For real, as soon as I saw him at the debate I knew he was cooked (I say this as a lifetime democrat). I mean the way he’s looking at trump whenever he speaks alone was terrifying. @@mma0911 Yeah, I wasn't trying to say that he isn't stuttering more, just that the fact that he stutters isn't made up even though his cognitive decline is obvious.
No the media didn't lie. He was born with a stutter. It's litterally a speech disability that comes from a small defector in the brain. He was bullied in his childhood for it. But over his life he has been able to suppress it and minimize to the point where he doesn't stutter. However as he ages, gets older and more tired, supressing the stutter becomes harder. It has always been a speech debugger for him, having to spend energy to supress it, but as he gets old, it becomes more impossible. You can hear he already starts to mumble words more in the 2012 clip. It's impossible to completely understand for someone without the disability.
It's quite saddening how people just started making fun of him recently. Even in his old age he is trying his best to make sense that's rather sad and not something one should make fun of whether due to age or a health condition.

Yeah difference between 65 and 81 is startling. He still basically seemed like a middle-aged guy in 1st clip…maybe on back-end of it, but far from elderly. Fast forward, and he’s a shell of himself. Joe was freaking ROARING in 2008 and his voice sounded so different it was shocking! It's genuinely depressing seeing him in his current state. Bro needs to retire from politics for GOOD!
To have a sharp political mind is a gift that is given to hardly anyone these days, and to lose your ability to express your thoughts is heartbreaking. To finally get the job of your dreams, only when you're far too old to make the best use out of it, then to be told by your friends and colleagues that you have to step aside and leave has to be one of the most difficult things that can happen to a man like that. I wish it came earlier, I wish it happened under better terms. It shouldn't be, "Go away, you old fart. We don't want you here." It should be, "Joe, you've had one of the most remarkable political careers in America. You've lived a life of service, you've done your duty to this country, and right now, the last step in insuring the future of your country is to step aside and let the future take over." It has to happen. It has to be this way, but it doesn't come out of malice. It comes out of absolute necessity, because the threat that faces this country is too large to make mistakes over. Joe Biden was a good president. He did his job, he did his duty, but the future is imperiled and we can't afford to take chances.
So true, he’s been chasing this his entire career, the pinnacle of American politics, becoming the President. And it’s just too late, he’s too old. Really a tragedy.
People don't seem to realise that there are 16 years between 2008 and 2024. As far as im concerned, Joe was still pretty lucid when he became president. He just didn't know when to step down
The 2020 to 2024 impresses more than the one from 2008 to 2004. 2008 to 2024 are decades apart, they are naturally going to be different. In 2020 he looks old, stumbles a little, but I still see him as competent and has strength on his voice, it makes me think, yeah, I can get old, but I will still be competent. 2024 shatters all those illusions.
@@GabrielsLogic You said “He is a decent man” though, reminds me of the “You’re a decent man Arthur Morgan” thing. So yes, it does have something to do with it.
Off topic, but as a Brit two things struck me about the language used: in the UK, "Middle class" is always used as a slur - "Ugh! That's such a middle class thing to say...", "They only care about the middle classes..." and hardly anyone ever admits to being part of it - there is even a trend for very comfortably off middle class people to drop their t's or h's and pretend to be less well off; almost everyone comes "from a working class background" and is apparently the first person in their family to go to University. The phrase "prolier than thou" is attached to such people. In the States, I've noticed that it tends to be used in a positive sense, to basically most people, on average/middle incomes. In the UK class is much more bound up in background and supposed attitudes and tastes. The second thing, perhaps trivial, is that he says "not one penny," rather than "not one cent," and I hadn't realised "penny" - UK currency of course - is referenced in American parlance.
Yeah, in the US people who are poor will often consider themselves middle-class and people who very well-off will do the same because being the everyman--not to poor and not too rich--is usually preferable and people don't want to consider themselves an outlier. Also our single-cent coins are called pennies, so they're often referenced in expression. Our coins are pennies, nickles, dimes, and quarters.
Yes, the United States is not class conscious. It's the same in Australia, this nebulous notion of the 'middle class' covers everyone from apartment renters to millionaires at this point. I think the UK is different because they never got rid of the aristocracy.
I thought 2020 Biden wasn't that fit for president. Looking at this, 2020 biden is miles better compared to Biden now. I don't really give a crap about politics, but I hope he can live his last few years in peace.

I’ve said since 2020 let the man go retire and be with his friends and family. You can tell his thoughts are rapid firing. But his mouth can’t keep up and is getting jumbled.
Because the job’s so mentally taxing. The moment I heard how he was talking in 2020, I thought, “Joe, you missed the boat for presidency.” My grandfather was older than him at the time, and didn’t talk like that. It wasn’t his age that made him ill-fit for the job. It was the beginnings of mental decline I could already see.

For those saying this is a "he's too old" issue... It's not. My mother is 77, that is just 4 years younger than Biden. She never has to re-calculate and backtrack her wording, she's just as quickwitted as she was when she was 45-50, she can keep up the pace with my regular walks while chatting without taking a break nor needing to catch her breath (I'm 35)... This is not "just" an age issue. Biden aged BADLY. It happens to some people. He also survived 2 brain aneurysms when he was 45. They didn't evolve into fullblown strokes, but even then, that's not "free". There's a high likelyhood complications like those will eventually catch up to you in your old age. IDK if he'll live 4 more years or not, but he FOR SURE won't be cognitively adept to live without almost constant caretaking for 4 more years, which, for the PRESIDENCY... It's kind of the same thing. And besides... LOOK WHAT WE'RE DISCUSSING HERE: "You think this guy will fucking DIE in 4 years?"... Screw policy, we're not even sure he'll be drawing breath! He needs to step down and let someone else take the lead. This isn't about him as much as taking the car keys from grandpa isn't about grandpa. It's about the pedestrians (aka: the rest of the country, in this case).
Him stepping down would effectively make it a guaranteed win for Trump, it's just not possible for that to realistically happen. I also don't think you can compare him your mother, unless she had an incredibly high stress job that was essentially her life, I get what you're trying to say but it's just not a proper comparison. At such a high age people just deteriorate, it's how it is. While ideally he would step down and have someone take the place, it's not a realistic solution, and it isn't happening. With all that said, even a moldy piece of bread is better than Trump as president. People rag on Biden for talking badly, but that's about it, his office makes good decisions and overall his presidency is not bad, unlike Trump's. If you see the news, you will notice Trump is someone who should be in jail, but because of his status and the corruption in the government, he gets off scot free. He should not be running either, yet nobody is talking about that.

But over his life he has been able to suppress it and minimize to the point where he doesn't stutter. However as he ages, gets older and more tired, supressing the stutter becomes harder. It has always been a speech debugger for him, having to spend energy to supress it, but as he gets old, it becomes more impossible.

Just in case… our one-cent coin is a “penny”, but then we say “two pennies”, not “pence”.
Never thought of middle-class as perjorative, interesting!

Tldr, can you rephrase in a couple of sentences please?
@@Overhemd I can.
I feel so bad for Joe being strung up to dry like this on such a public stage. Horrific really.
man has aged like 10-15 years just from 2020 to 2024... being the us president sure shaves years off an individual
