Was just watching the video from last year about the Japanese Bench Grip and seeing this video right after, there's a noticeable difference in Bryce's size. He's lookin 乇乂丅尺卂 丅卄工匚匚 lately
Started powerlifting last yr. Have a couple yrs of experience with lifting on an off in life. Watched hundreds of lifting videos of main lifts. This is new news to me lol. Something so simple and probably over looked by soo many people. Thanks so much for this :)
ooooooooooooo this helped a lot thank you. My coach and I were having trouble getting me to understand how to "wedge" and push my hips back. But by just preventing forward knee travel that's a lot easier for my ADHD ass brain to understand than just "wedge" yourself into the bar.
awesome vid... i just wanna say thanks for your content... ive been watching your vids for a few months now as well as using your 8 week training plan; with only a few minor tweaks of my own to suit my capabilities etc.... your vids have helped me progress so much with my squats especially! ...thanks!
Thank you! These are some super useful tips. A friend of mine spotted me and told me I have forward knee travel and my starting position shifts a bit to a squat pattern, but just a bit. I will try to apply this. Thanks again!
Alan Thrall also has a great video on how to set up for the deadlift correctly in conventional style. This echos several of the key points, both videos are well worth the watch when learning how to properly set yourself up before pulling.
Good video, personally I like to be dynamic off the floor. I roll the bar away and then back. Been struggling to figure out when to push off. Thought it had to do with hip height but now I realize it’s all about shin angle. Thanks a ton!
I guess I automatically do this now that I think about it, never put too much thought into it since by the time it leaves the ground it’s always gonna be in the same location for the most part.
Hi Bryce ! Could you tak about how to fix squats with hips shooting back then up ? I injured myself (back) and was only able to do front squats for two months. Now that im back into back squats that problem appeared. Never had that before but now my hips shoot back then goes up.
I don’t think there’s a definitive answer to the order of things, or whether or not a release and re-brace is right for you. It’s going to be a “try them both and see what works” kind of thing.
Send in some videos for our form check Friday and/or tune in and submit to our Friday livestream. It’s hard to answer these questions without seeing the lifts!
This is super useful, thank you so much! I was wondering, though, is it normal to feel your lower back during deadlifts? I do conventional, haven’t tried sumo yet. It’s not painful, but after deadlifting my lower back muscles always feel tight. I was wondering because no one ever talks about that area unless it’s related to pain 😅 is it normal or is it a form issue/hips too tight? Thank you!
Any good hamstring stretches? Can't reach bottom of Deadlift/hole in Low bar squat without being in serious discomfort and having knee cave inwards to alleviate
Might be something that seems obvious to you, might not be what you needed to hear, but there were a lot of people asking a specific question, so I answered. Just tryna help people my dude.
What's your best way to determine how wide you place your feet sumo? I feel like I always want to go wider but I feel best when I've got my ankles and knees stacked
Ishak Lika eventually the double over hand grip will fail, regardless of your grip strength. That’s why you will need to use the hook grip, mixed, or straps - to keep progressing on deads without your grip limiting you.
@@patbateman4202 thanks you very much but like I see a lot of people especially in powerlifting and strongman championships they go to there Pr with the double hand grib even if that's their maximum
@@ishaklika5352 Or its a grip event for strongman, where only double overhand is allowed. But all powerlifters going for a heavy deadlift use either hookgrip or mixed grip.
You’re somewhat mistaken about strongmen sitting back into position causing them to lose some tension. It actually helps them get a little more tension prior to the lift (folks often think they are trying to squat the weight up when they do this too, but they are not). It’s one of the reason many top strongmen roll the bar into them. The other reason is that it helps them get enough air in for the lift due to their huge midsections.
When I try pulling the slack out (especially on heavy sets) my low back will instantly round or my shoulders can't get in line with the bar (slightly forward)
Hahaha yes, we’re definitely playing to the RUclips formula/algorithm here, just trying to get a bit more exposure, while finding a balance of good info and hopefully having a wide reach!
Love the video. Don't love the title. I know you guys gotta do what you gotta do to get people to watch the video, but it definitely dilutes the quality.
@@its_james_fitness I'd watch any videos they posted since I'm subscribed and know they produce quality content. But, if I was recommended a video with this title from a channel I don't know (especially with how short the video is), I'd just assume it's junk click bait and scroll by.
That's a good point. We're really just experimenting right now to better understand how youtube promotes videos. Ideally we find a balance of a title that brings people in without it sounding like generic click bait.
Bold of you to assume my deads are heavy enough to have slack.
He's so presumptuous!
That cue to stop forward knee travel as you pull the slack out and pull yourself into position is a game changer!
That might be the best explanation for pulling the slack out that I've ever heard.
Thanks for addressing both sumo and conventional styles.
I know that was a criticism of some of our past videos, so we wanted to make sure we got into that!

Definatly felt better angling my legs for approaching the bar. :)
Oh my god this was what i really needed keep going buddy.
Doing your program! On week 2!

sumo instruction from this man is always great !
Awesome tip with the knees. I'll give it a try next time I deadlift.
Very helpful man thx

Should I bend the bar (pull the slack), brace, lift OR bend the bar, release slack, brace, lift??
Check out J.P Cauchi's video on this. ruclips.net/video/s2QBEjUpoE4/видео.html
Thank you finallyyyy I understand

john paul cauchi made a good video recently about pulling out the slack, worth checking out
Yeah. Definitely!
wow did u make this video for me
I need that hat. Do I I get that hat? I want it. It’s not on the website. Please help, I’m panicking.

Video’s right on time! Tomorrow’s my DL-day 💪
my back is at a 90 degree angle when i lift because of my long legs/short arms, any tips for this? what stance would be the best for me?
Same here...pulling Sumo works for me better, cause my torso is then more upright and there is lower stress on the lower back... 👍🏼

Yeah, that’s not an issue! The low back is full of muscles just like the rest of the body, and they can/should be trained and strengthened as well.

ANNIALLATOR deadlift/squat more
So should I do THIS or not?
Did you learn nothing?! Do THIS, not THAT or else THIS could happen to YOU

Can you guys plz demonstrate with heavy weights cuz that's when our forms get all wacky

Generally, getting people into a ‘stacked’ position like you mentioned is optimal for most

Nice video for beginers, but what about your tattoo vlogs. I miss them :O
We’ll be bringing them back!
Better make an video instead of getting trolled in the livestreams at how far chins have to be from the bar, smart move!
Nice I’m guilty of sitting back to far,I almost lazy boy recline into a. Deadlift,
I definitely know what you’re talking about! Hopefully this helps!
That guy in the background looked like he was squatting some serious weight.
Was Bryce in that movie Kingsmen?
great
how tall is Bryce?
About 5'10
i kind of pulled the slack out of the bar instictively but it is good to have a clear explanation from you :)
Nice
Ankle Angel 5 times fast.
Fuck you im gonna have to practice till I get it now
