Nice video, but How do i know what driver to install? I've tried updating it by looking up my driver for updates and downloading (manual way) the only thing it had on the list (i have an "NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1660") and it still doesn't work. I Also don't know how to install it how you did. I'm not exactly familiar with this kind of thing with computers. I've just tried it the manual way and it seemed to work however I still can't record is the gist of it I suppose. Now everything seems to lag, deleting files causes the file explorer to freeze with the (Not Responding) thing and the whited out window, mild stutters, etc.

Thanks just what I was looking for. I had the same message though after changing the streaming section option so I changed the recordning option box to MP4 and same as stream (like yours) and hey presto all sorted. Fabulous

I'm at 1:01 - I don't know if the solution here will work for me BUT, in this SINGULAR MINUTE, you've already given me more technical info than any of the other videos I've watched on the topic (i.e. reinstall Nvidia Drivers... my response: DAAAAA). When the RUclipsr seems to know what they're talking about, I'm already put at ease, even if the solution doesn't work, you are TEACHING! And for this I thank you! I had this on my Surface Book 2 - I updated the drivers with the microsoft update and that didn't help, so I went and installed the nvidia drivers (selected clean install option) this worked perfectly. Thankyou!

Did not work for me. Also the point is that we want to use the GPU for encoding, so why would we change to software? (even though software gives me the same error) I think OBS issue as hardware worked fine on v27 and earlier

I recently updated to OBS 29 and saw something very similar to this issue, but not with NVENC recording, with streaming. OBS would not allow my system to go live until I changed Output Encoder setting from NVidia NVENC H.264 to x264. My previous stream worked as it always had but overnight something changed. Recording still works with the encoder set to NVENC however. I'm currently using an NVidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GPU running on Windows 10.

Maybe check that you're using the latest OBS version. Then try to use DDU to uninstall and install the latest drivers for your gpu, hopefully that helps
