Very nice binocs, Love the fact they are East German. I have a pair of German army issue they are quality for sure being 40+ years old and still crystal clear .
From what I saw you have the only video on YT regarding these glasses.. and for that I thank you. Just received a set and had many questions you answered, Greetings from Alaska, and again, thank you.
It is indeed the IR detector. Behind the window there is a lens with a special coating that is intended to show IR light sources. But before it needs to be "charged" by the sunlight (UV-rays). Then the lens is rotated by the knob next to the window into the tube (as shown in the video). But as the coating contains an element that weakens over time, these devices, which are mostly more than 30 years old, won´t work anymore today.
Hi!, i just bought the reticle iluminator but i have not tried it because the plug is not the actual european one. How do you tested it? Did you got an adaptor? I discover a spare bulb in the plug. That is very smart!. Greetings from Denmark!
Greetings! I got the iluminator with an aftermarket batterie pack from Duncker (see link below). It´s not very cheap and I´m sure that you can make such a device on your own but I´m no electronic expert and I don´t have the time to do it either. The spare bulb is cool but I was a bit disappointed because I had hoped that you can install one of those LED bulbs that you can buy for vintage flashlights. There´s certainly a way to install a LED anyway but the same applies as above. I will certainly make this video about the iluminator soon and I even found a nice location for it. www.ebay.de/itm/Beleuchtung-Set-DF-7x40-Strichplattenbeleuchtung-komplett-inkl-Batteriepack/173623236661?hash=item286cc05835:g:g9QAAOSwOv1b3wvV
Hi! I admire your videos! You seem to be able to capture the full FOV with the camera, in focus, and very stable while moving about. Can you give me any pointers on how to make these videos? Do you have the camera chest-mounted? Thanks!
It´s actually very simple: I use a Canon Ixus Camera which is fitted to a night vision device headmount. This way I have the camera display direct in front of my eyes and both hands free.
I have this same exact pair of binos. They have a seven digit serial number beginning with 333 and are in brand new condition much like yours. Any idea if what they are actually worth and who would be interested in collecting them ? Super sharp looking !!
Hi Black forest Recon, What is the function of the small plate with the red dot on the right side of the eyepiece? Many thanks and congrats for the quality of your videos.
Mint condition early model with straight eye cups and thin body armor...Iam jealous!seriously.Did you acquire them recently and if so how much and from where?
Definitely one of my favorite videos from your channel. I am still looking for this particular Zeiss model. What is your opinion of the Notarem 10x40B? Best regards / MfG.
Thanks! The early version of the DF 7x40 is increasingly hard to find even on german ebay these days. But you find a lot of the newer versions in good condition. I don´t know the Notarem 10x40B since I mostly collect military binos - so I can´t say anything about it. Greetings
Would you recommend to get one if this models? Is there any remarkable difference in quality from older models compared with new ones (as the dekarems/jenoptems)?. I personally like the DF and i have found several items at good price. Thanks !!
Since I don´t own one of these newer versions yet I can´t actually say anything about the difference. But I suspect that the difference in terms of optics should not be significant.
