Install of a Rubicon Express 3.5" SuperFlex Lift Kit on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ.
Part numbers:
Superflex 3.5" kit for XJ: 16300.801
Twin Tube Shock Kit: 16300.820
Adjustable Front Track Bar: 16311.602
Extended Front Stainless Steel Brake Lines: 12707.202
Transfer Case Lowering Kit: 16301.4481
Replacement Steering Stabilizer: 16301.900
Working on a truck with no rust... Looks pleasant. (It's on my bucket list :)
i'm a toyota guy .. buy you gotta respect the xj
Love watching these old videos and people wrestling with items. The steering stabilizer and it's tapered fit... Looked like a WWE match gone wrong...
right you can just unbolt it from the back and put the new one on without taking the castle nut off and hammering it out.
This looks EXACTLY like my ‘98. Right down to the rims and sagging suspension.
This is such a huge difference from another video showing a 3" lift...but only 1/2 inch difference in kit. This is the height I want for my 2000 xj, thanks for the great video!!
Paul Estes - K5VOP From what I hear RE tends to lift higher than advertised
Getting this kit tomorrow along with a sye and Tom woods drive shaft. Just trying to source a good track bar. The Rubicon express one is known to last only a few months so I need something quality
That RE track bar has been on that jeep for 4 years of daily driving and wheeling and is still fine.
@@Quadratec leaf springs gone brown yet? Noticed the paint job wasnt the greatest on mine I'm going to be a little annoyed if I have brown springs in 2 years
Well done...looking forward to more XJ vids
Timothy the tires are 235/75r15 GY Wrangler Radials. They are a great all around tire and can be purchased at Wal-Mart very reasonably. I went with 235s on my 3" lift but my XJ had 16" rims so the tires were quite a bit more money. :(
cool video. I don't think I'd be able to put it back together without getting rid of any and all rust first though lol.
I just finished installing this kit on my 91 Cherokee. I went to take it for a test drive and now the Jeep won’t start. Man I love Jeeps!
You should show a very common issue of getting the front bolt out of the leaf springs ! can you say torch time !☺ Also you did not address longer bump stops on rear . If they are still there .
My 90 xj's stock leaf's is past wore out, they are actually inverted now lol. With any load on my Jeep the stock sized tires rubs badly in the rear. Needing this lift lol.
+TheAmericanUhate That's where we were before the lift. They were really bad!
this kit and others that replace the leaf Springs should come with new bolts for the shackles. sadly, most of these kits don't include these bolts.
Very true. It's just a lot of headache trips to lowes every time lol
Any vibration caused by frony drive shaft pinion angle. Did a 3 inch lift and 1 inch transfer case drop angle is still off. Ill need adjustable upper control arms to set angle.
What you don't see In this video is how to do the hard things. Like the shock mounts and how they need to be drilled out.
We did have to drill out the upper rear shock mounts, and we replaced them with Bar pin eliminators.
***** which bpe did you use? also what tire size would you recomend?
+THE501to859
an
I did the exact same lift and track bar. I am getting bump steer. Did you guys get that too? Also, I see that you used the stock bolt and nut on the lower mount of the track bar, why?
Really nice job.
Can u please do a video on the same left but on a 98 zj 4.0 thank you us zj guy will love it
good job man ..
what you dont see is the hard things, like the shock mounts and how they needed to be drilled out
Other manufacturers make a pretty easy fix for this problem.
Flag pin eliminator kits are cheap.
Just order that before replacing shocks.
Where was this video 2 weeks ago?? Just installed mine (same kit) ran into some issues. Hopefully local shop can fix. Good video though!
What ended up being the problem? I'm doing this kit but with a better track bar and proper sye instead of the t case drop that defeats the point of the lift
How was the shackle angle after the lift?
Did you guys ever end up having to do a sye on this truck? 3.5 inches seems rather high for just a t-case drop.
Nathan Martin Yes we did do an SYE.
Quadratec what is a SYE?
SYE or slip yoke eliminator eliminates the slip yoke from your transfer case output.
It normally will connect to your driveshaft and transfers power from the
transfer case to your driveshaft.
Just bought this kit, front brake lines, track bar and noticed you guys also recommended leaf shims. Any brand or size shims for the 3.5 super ride kit I just bought from you guys?
I believe we ended up with the 6 degree shims for this one: www.quadratec.com/products/16311_512X_A_PG.htm
Not sure if this had been asked yet but I have the same year and RWD ... the website says for d35. But I'm pretty sure I have a Chrysler 8.25 ...Did you use the same U bolts that's provided in the kit? Or do I need to order RE1225 with this kit? Or does it make a difference...
You will need the RE1225 u-bolts if you have the 8.25
What size transfer case drop did you use?
The Tcase lowering kit he posted says it is a 1" kit. I am wondering if that is sufficient or if shims or anything else is needed to prevent vibration. I guess it is vehicle specific but it'd be nice to have an idea so I don't have to order parts after the jeep is in parts in the garage because what they show here isn't sufficient. Mine is a 2000 XJ Sport so I guess I'll talk to the Quadratec service guys.
@@prephampaulk5vop320 it was a 1" t-case lowering kit. It did work for the most part, there was still a bit of vibration, so I ended up doing a SYE kit, and used a XJ front driveshaft for the rear, that took care of all the vibration.
The center pin from the RE leaf springs has a bigger head then stock, did you drill out the hole in the axle? Stock center pin has a ½” head. Thx for help
Yes we did drill the hole in the spring perch, as well as the shims we used.
cual es el costo del kit para lebantar la suspencion de una jeep esport ckerokee del 1998
I have a 98 xj want to put a lift kit on in the future, don't to go to get to crazy guess just looking for more of an aggressive look. As of right now I do need lower control arms I want tubalur control arms as to stock. do you have any control arms that would work on stock suspension and also can use when I am ready to lift it?
+Aaron Armelin You can use any adjustable control arm, when you pull out the old ones, do them one at a time, and match the length on the ground, you might need to extend them when you do a lift. Here is the rubicon express adjustable control arm kit: www.quadratec.com/products/16312_103_07.htm
In the instructions for the lift, it says to remove the rear sway bar. Was that done to this Jeep also? Thanks
Yes, the rear sway bar was removed and not replaced.
What's going on at 4:47? Does the Rubicon Express lift come with a steering stabilizer or is that a separate part? Why did you replace it?
It does not come with one, but yes we replaced it with this one: www.quadratec.com/products/16301_900.htm?Rubicon_XJ_Lift we replaced it because it was the factory piece.
Cool, thanks. Seems like a good upgrade while doing the lift. Thanks for the link!
i got a 2000 xj with 3.5 lift and my rear driveshaft came out what angle should I set my pinion to keep it in?
+Larry Epperly That is a tough question to answer here. There are a lot of factors. Did you do a transfer case drop kit when you did the lift? We do have an article from Tom Woods that helps explain proper driveline angles. www.quadratec.com/jeep_knowledgebase/article-3.htm
Which one is better, Jeep XJ 2001 V6 Vs. JGC WJ 2001 - 2004 V6 ?
Brands_Avenue _Ismailia the problem is 2001 Jeep Xj’s never came with a v6. 😂
I've got a '96 cherokee xj with rear wheel drive. Will I need to do a t-case drop or is it only for 4WD? *****
Kaipo Fitisemanu Have you already installed a lift kit? Are you experiencing driveline vibration? Based on the longer length of your 2wd drive shaft you might not need a transfer case drop (which is actually spacers that lower the transmission skid plate below the transmission)
I'm not experiencing any wobble or grinding. I have the stock auspension still and I am just trying to understand all the components of my jeep before buying a lift kit. This seems like the best one I've come across so far so ill probably be getting this one
Kaipo Fitisemanu We've never dealt with a lift this big on a 2wd, so we are just not sure if you would actually need it. That is a pretty inexpensive part of the kit, might be worth getting and hanging onto it to see if you need it. We do accept returns of unused products for 30 days.

Grancherokee..lore do..96
How much is this kit?
If I were to purchase this today would it be on back order?
Looks like we have all the components in stock at the moment. If you'd like you can always call us, or use the Chat on our website to make sure it's in stock.
What size tires are on that aftet the lift?
I'd guess 31"x10.50. That about the biggest you can fit on 3.5" lifts, without rubbing or cutting fenders
trackbar, t-case drop and front brakelines are not included in the base kit?
+Alex K. They are add ons to the base kit.
Does lifting a Jeep this high effect the gas mileage when on the road?
Yeah, when I did mine I lost about 3 mpg, but that's including really thick treaded tires
i think the larger tires lower gas mileage, not the lift it self. but most everyone that put a lift on also put on larger tires
Big part is tires. But at 3.5 you shouldn't destroy your mileage no
If they were in stock 😢
What year is this?
+keepithookin 21 2001
What size tires in this video?
Those are 29" tires.
225-245/70-15s I think is the equivalent of measurement,. I have the same tires on mine.
