"A Charlie Brown Christmas"--what a classic! Kind of sad to hear that it, along with the other Charlie Brown specials, won't be airing on network TV this year.
I remember watching that show a lot as a kid but beyond Mel calling Vera a ding bat and flo telling him to kiss her grits, I can't say I really remember any of the plots
Mike Troncin In the 2nd episode, Alice went on a date with one of Mel's friends from college, a pro football player. By the end of the date, he tells Alice he is gay. Did not know they touched on such things in the 70's.
I kinda lost a bit of the Christmas spirit when they stopped airing those Norelco Christmas commercials where Santa Claus rides the electric razor over the snowy hills. To me, it just isn't Christmas without them.
I had forgotten about those Norelco "gotcha" commercials. They used to bother me when I was a kid. Just before this video got to the gotcha part I remembered what was coming and looked away.
It was nice to see an original airing of All In The Family here, complete with the bumpers and end credits! I was going to point out the "1 month after Star Wars Holiday Special" after seeing the Newsbreak at the end, but it's already been taken care of. (that special also had an infamous Newsbreak with Marlene Sanders and even was on the SWHS Rifftrax!)
Amazing that after all this time, JCPenney STILL has the exact same logo! Nice to see when nearly everyone has changed theirs a good five times at least at this point...
They actually did change their logo in 2011, but reverted back to their original logo two years later: adage.com/article/cmo-strategy/j-c-penney-scuttles-logo-introduced-ceo/244660/
2:41--I'd kind of forgotten about that Country Blend Cat Chow. After seeing that commercial here, I recall that my family occasionally fed it to our cat back then.
+berto1111 Nice catch! I also think the man who plays the Santa is actor Bill Irwin ( /www.aveleyman.com/ActorCredit.aspx?ActorID=5362 ). The voice sounds familiar but I'm not 100% certain it's him. The guy with the bag on his head in the Alka Seltzer commercial, I believe he is Dr. Beeper from Caddyshack.
that CBS Special Presentation bumper never gets old..BlueSky Studios shouldve done a riff on it using their logo for "The Peanuts Movie" wonder what was it that pre-empted 'Alice' in order for the show to return at an hour later than usual lol
The next Sunday was Christmas Eve. Alice was pre-empted by The Nutcracker (probably the 1964 TV special with Eddie Albert as host). imdb.com/title/tt0221445/
Hey, 80sCommercialVault, would you happen to have a collection of commercials from malls? I love how they say that dog food is "meat FLAVORED" & "cuts LIKE meat," implying that it's artificially flavored filler.
I was eight years old when these aired. Every time I think I miss the 80s I watch these videos and realize that I miss the 70s just as much.
I LOVE THAT CBS SPECIAL PRESENTATION OPENING!
I was a kid in the 70s and I remember these commercials very well
The best Christmas I remember as a kid was 1978. I got my Starbird toy I had been wanting. I wish I still had it. Great memories!
Mine too! I remember getting an electric train set that year.
Ah the 70s! 40 years ago. Was almost 16 and sometimes feels like it was yesterday.!

I was 12 when these aired. Wish I could go back to this time in my life!
After watching this. I went and watched the "Alice" pilot online. What a great show.

Yeah that was pretty early for that subject... Wasn't it like ten years til Roseanne kissed Hemingway? I remember that being a big thing
I love "Alice"! I actually never watched it during its original run, but nowadays I enjoy it on Antenna TV.
Hickory Farms was sample heaven! I remember trying to teach the cat how to Chow Chow Chow & hoping in vain that our sinks would clog.

I miss cameras and buying film and getting it developed.
fscap811 really....people nowadays have thousands of photos on their phones and never get them developed, these times really suck if you ask me 😕😕
JAMIE NEWMAN they still make ‘em. One with a built in battery.
Not me. It was a pain in the ass. I'm all for instant gratification 😆
You can still buy 35m film. Clark and York develop them.

I don't understand what was so infamous about it.
"All in the Family" is currently airing on Get TV, but without the original end credits sequence.

80sCommercialVault Wow, that's pretty cool! Thankyou for always informing on these cultural details with links and everything!
Aren't they gone
JC Penney is still around.
Can’t bother to do research aka a simple google search? Don’t comment on stuff with potentially misleading information.
I was 5 when these were aired 😁

Isn't that the coffee lady from Airplane! in the Hickory Farms ad? ("Jim never vomits at home.")
She is!

Wow! I didn't know rotary razors came out that early! Cool!
Electric rotary shavers were invented in 1939
I remember when the gas prices went up to 85 cents a gallon after opec raised prices.
Wow, what a Christmas gift - a 50 cent McDonald's coupon. It's the thought that counts though, lol.
But the coupon was worth more that's the joy of receiving a McDonald's coupon.

1 month after the Star Wars Holiday Special.
I was a sophomore in high school when these originally aired.
09:26 - I don't always lift, but when I do, that's NOT where I want my spotter...
If only I could be like 25 and live in every decade... almost
Having to scoop water out of a clogged bathtub with a pot would really suck.
These commercials came out a month after I was born.
Brooks was here.
Why isn't Melissa McCarthy remaking that Cat Chow ad?! She would nail it!
😂
I was a sophomore in high school at this time.
6:06 - what's on her nose?! :D
It's her third nose
seffola Hee :D
+Annusya Pipi
I believe a bindi, though she put it on her nose for some reason (maybe playfulness?).
Vebinz I thought it could be a bindi, but I didn't know they were at all popular in the late '70s! LOL, it's weird :D
James Garner was hot!
Does anyone know the name of the music for Gallo Wine?
Hey, 80sCommercialVault, would you happen to have a collection of commercials from malls?
I love how they say that dog food is "meat FLAVORED" & "cuts LIKE meat," implying that it's artificially flavored filler.
I wish episodes of Kaz could at least be found on RUclips. I'm crazy about Ron Leibman.
The cat chow lady always annoyed me.
