Girl, I could totally see your anxiety level in your body language when your husband was applying the sealer 🤣 The way he was skipping around even gave me some anxiety 🤷🏻♀️! Great how-to video. Extremely informative....and I didn’t even skip through the ‘safety’ section 👍🏼
"Ok.... STOP. How bout you record...." LOL!!! I laughed so hard I scared the dogs. This is the best! Great info and what real life is like with spouses. Will watch you forever now. 💕
Your detailed process shows why your pieces are stellar Amy. I find the hardest thing to do when teaching a technique is to not take over the job! We're used to "doing" not "observing". Your husband did great! The table is very handsome. I'm still learning from you and I appreciate the skills you share.🌷🌷
This is great. You walked through your thoughts with each step. I adore how your teaching your viewers in the same way your teaching your husband. It feels personal. Thanks so much! 👍
You are a very good teacher and you are very kind to help those of us who are new to painting furniture. You and your husband seem very sweet together and I personally love to see that. My husband and I love to spend time together too. Thank you for your tutorial on painting furniture. I loved this video.
I just love this beginner tutorial! Your husband is a good student! You were so funny, trying not to jump in and just do it. But you did great! Keep these videos coming. I learned so so much. Thank you!! 😊
Very informative, and I'm so glad for you that you're getting to do this together. You made it fun for your viewers along with the learning. Go Amy! Go Joe! 😀😍
That turned out to be GEORGEOUS!!😀❤ I like that you explain things to all of us on which paints to use and what each paint or product does !! Thank you !🤗❤
Oh my goodness, I’m dying watching this video. I’m laughing so much. You have the patience of a saint. I could tell you wanted to just do it yourself. Beautiful finish at the end of the day.
Thank you! Loved all the details about painting and deciding the best finish choices for the most likely buyer. The teacher & student team work helped (as you know) to drive home the proper techniques.
This video was extremely helpful. Your husband is such a trooper to be a newbie and be filmed as well. It made it obvious there was more to it than slopping a little paint on a piece. The safety part is something I've wondered about and I'm glad you talked about that. Thanks for doing this video, I'd love to see more. I haven't started doing any furniture yet, but I have several pieces that are my personal pieces I'd like to make over. Thanks!
you are so Good at this... you REALLY should consider teaching classes locally.. SERIOUSLY. But keep showing us on U TUBE Please.. It turned out very nice. More husband helping. he is a good sport.
Great Job. My hubby helps me sometimes too. We have flipped ALOT of homes but now that we are retired we settled on flipping furniture and we’re having fun. I’m teaching him painting techniques and he is teaching me construction /restoration skills. Never a dull moment 🤗
This was great! I just did my coffee table a few weeks ago. Same type of table. Wish I would have seen this then. Lol. The legs were a pain. I ended up using a roller for the legs, which made them come out better than when I started.
Hi Amy beautiful job ,yes this was really helpful, going over it really sh i we'd details on w hat to and what not to do and it was nice to see how much fun you guys have together too ,th a his for sharing all the best Mary in Australia 🌻
I really enjoyed this video. You are including your husband which I think is a wonderful thing for you all to discover a hobby that you can share. Also, I think it’s very helpful for beginners to see exactly what’s involved start to finish. Thank you.
You are doing an amazing job with going through all the details for the beginners. Your husband is a fine man! He listens to you & doesn’t interfere in your talking, you are very nice couple. Just as a curiosity how much do you think you can sell this beautiful piece ?if you don’t mind me asking , Thank you so much for your time , the table came up beautiful 🙏🎶💃
Thank you! You are very kind😊 We are going to put it up for $100. I don’t think we will get that much because Of the short height But it was a great beginner piece.
🤣This video was entertaining as well as informative. I haven’t ever done a piece of furniture, but I have applied top coat to wood signs. I was wondering if it might be helpful for him to have been more level with the tabletop to use the glare of the light to see how he was applying the topcoat?
I am learning to flip furniture and learned the bad way sanding veneer. I probably pressed too hard and my table top now is showing the particle board 🙁. I had to change directions and instead of leaving the natural look I am applying chalk paint. Is like you said is try and error. Thank you for you so detailed tutorial.
For top coats: use a foam sponge and pour some top coat on a paper plate and lightly dip the sponge. Perfect even coats every time. $1 for a pack of 6 sponges at the dollar tree.
There is NO way I would attempt to teach my husband. My philosophy is “GET IT RIGHT OR DON’T DO IT”. His motto is “No biggy, it’s fine the way it is”. You have some strength, girl. Lol
When can you use the silk paint and not Zinger Bin? How do you decide what type of top coat? What are the differences? Can you do a video on the different products and examples of why you use what and what the results look like vs other options please!
Lol...ur face!! Its so funny men just dont have the finesse like a woman sometimes..😅 ur lil husband is a trooper its good that he gets to see how much goes into ur projects to make it all come togeter n look good to sell
This video was SO helpful!! This coffee table is almost identical to the one that I’m working on. And I’m doing the exact same thing! Painting the base and staining the top. Now I have a much clearer picture of what it will look like! I’m using Rustoleum chalk paint in Country Blue. Right now it’s wayyyy too hot to work on it. (I live in the Sonoran Desert). So excited to pick back up on it! 😁👍🏻😁👍🏻😁
Thank you! He is pretty easy-going😊 I was so nervous when he was applying the sealer. I couldn’t believe how much it showed when I watch the video over. It made me laugh! I was hovering over him 🤦♀️😂
This was great but so very hilarious. I’d be the same way with my husband. I’m definitely not a patient teacher. I Laughed really hard at your faces you were making. I could literally read your mind!! 😂😂😂 But great job hubby!! Kudos to you!!!
I’ve been doing it for a long time and he was the same way. Not really interested. I started working through the weekends too so he realized if he wanted to spend time together, he should grab a paintbrush. I’m so glad he did because turns out he’s really enjoying it😊❤️
Being someone with a lung condition I was very pleased that you warned everyone about the dangers associated with sanding. Please be aware though that White Lightning contains very dangerous chemicals. It should be only used with the ultimate care taken. Preferably outside whilst wearing a mask and goggles. You cannot in fact buy it here in the UK as it is considered far too toxic. Take care - loved your video 😘
Omg this really helped!!! I'm a 1st timer bought my 1st end table for 20 buck and super excited! Also quick question why do most people sand only the top furniture and the rest
Chalk paint was designed to be used with less prep work. So instead of sanding you can just put your chalk paint right on top. Whenever somebody staining some thing it’s best to sand off the old finish first. But if you’re just painting something, you Usually prime it and paint it.
He was a rescue so we’re not sure. They said he’s a Chihuahua mix but I think he’s way too big. He might be some kind of terrier mix? Either way he's the biggest sweetheart ❤️
@@FlipItFurniture Thank you! I appreciate your reply, I appreciate you giving your adorable pup-pups a loving home, and I appreciate you sharing your furniture flips with us!😁❤👍👍👍
Great video! You two did well together! One question, though, did you seal the bottom & legs with Gatorhide, too? I just saw the top done, and was wondering about the bottom. Thanks.
Hi! Thank you. I did not seal the bottom because the paint that I used is all-in-one, so it has a sealer in it. I used the gator hide on the top for the extra protection since it’s a high-traffic area.
I have a question I have a dining table with exactly the same top design and color But I want to flip it to white Is it possible to keep the top design in whit ??
I have a teak table. It has two leaves that hide under the table. The top of my table ( not the leaves) that have water bubble damage across the main part of the table. The table without including the leaves is rectangle. The table has a thin veneer and that is what bubbled. Could I not just add wood filler to the top, let dry and lightly san then paint? I Don’t what else to do with it🤓
Here’s a video on the steps I take when there is bubbling from water damage. I will say, though, I don’t advise taking a razor to your table. I wouldn’t want you to damage it, but maybe you can get an idea from this video. I hope it helps😊ruclips.net/video/R7nv7H4bRew/видео.html
Beautiful table. I lol watching your husband not apply it as you explained 😂
Thank you! 😂🤦♀️😂

I loved the look on your face when your husband was brushing on the 1st top coat! Too funny 😂. Beautiful job on this table!
Thank you!
That did give me a little anxiety😂😂

I love that your husband wants to be apart of what you’re doing! I always try to get my husband to and he wants nothing to do with it 😒

I also found if you put to much pressure on a sander you end up putting dents in the wood .
Fun times 😀 I love that rug! I’m searching for something similar. Do you remember where you got it! TIA

For the beginner furniture flipper the cheaper brands will work or even hand sanding works, but it takes a lot more time.
I agree 100% I used the cheaper sand paper and Sander for years. I found Dixie Belle prices to be pretty low for a High quality paint.
If you are doing a top coat over painting do you ever add some paint to the top coat to make sure it doesn't yellow?
Oh girl, I watched this a day late. Yesterday I messed up on the clear coat of my beautiful piece I painted :(
Oh no!
On the bright side, I bet you learned a lot ❤️
I learned so much from my own trial and error.
Can you kindly give the link where the brushs can be purchased, please?!
I have a question I have a dining table with exactly the same top design and color
But I want to flip it to white
Is it possible to keep the top design in whit ??
Did you clean the top before applying the voodoo stain?
We sanded the top and then wiped it clean with a cloth.
How much "fun" does your husband really have?? He seemed to be getting schooled pretty good 😆
😂❤️
please tell us what kind of mask you use thanks carole
What is the brand and kind of brush that you used to paint with the Dixie belle paint?
