Where you from? I'm from the Richmond VA area, about half of all local spots are better and wayyyy cheaper than mission. You just gotta try other places and there's always something better than mission, which makes sense because it's a chain. But for the same price, ZZQ in Scotts addition Richmond is by far the best bbq I've had on the east coast. The meat is insane, the sides are un-fucking-believable, they also always give you something extra for free, and it's the same price as mission. From the brisket to the ribs to the sausages, it's all insane. Classic sausages all the way to habanero fontina, they're all fire. All the sausages are made locally in collaboration with the pitmaster. On weekends they do prime rib sandwiches, perfectly medium rare, LOADED UP with meat and the best sauce you've ever had. They're so god damn good their website says they're open until 6 but they're almost always closed by 3 because they run out of food. It's honestly perfect bro. I used to love mission, but once my brother moved in nearby and we smelled it all the time, we had to try it. I've never had anything better. Everytime we go in they give us way more than we pay for. Also their cocktails are insane. I don't think there's a better bbq joint on the east coast.

He recommended a bbq joint in Dallas and I went there- I’m extremely particular about my bbq and couldn’t find a place I liked. But I agreed with him and now I have a bbq place
Food quality at restaurant chains varies from place to place. I've heard and have mixed reviews about certain chains. Full Moon Bbq in Dothan, AL is BANGIN but the Birmingham joint is sub par.

Go to Ed’s Barbecue and Country Cooking in Phenix City, Alabama. It's a tiny spot in the cut. They have several locations, but the one in Phenix City, AL, smacks.
Have you tried (The Smoke Pit) in Charlotte surrounding areas? First time I had it was in concord, yesterday and I was absolutely blown away with the burnt ends and the sweet potato casserole.

BBQ Joe's in High Point and Trinity NC. Get the brisket with a side of "Joe's sauce." I like their potato salad, sweet potato casserole, and their hush puppies.
I'm surprised people aren't telling him to eat at Smithfields chicken and barbecue. That was my go to chain BBQ restaurant when I lived there. Can't beat that value pack!

I've been to mission BBQ in Jacksonville Florida 3 different times and it has never been any more than mid-tier barbecue .
I've eaten at the same chain in different locations and it all varies from place to place. Depends on who they got working for em.
I love the 6-8 different BBQ sauce choices and the honey mustard. Sounds like a legit score to me just never get the slaw.

Mission BBQ is about the best that you can get outside of Texas, Memphis, KC and NC (minus the vinegar based sauce), that sauce is an acquired taste.
