Our palates really are so compatible given our ancestry, so it's not surprising that Brits love Southern food. And British food is so underrated! Why Yorkshire pudding didn't make it across the pond is a mystery rooted in evil. Toad in the hole is sooo good! Love from Blue Ridge, Georgia
Sometimes, if I want a cream pie to “sit-up” for a special occasion, I will soften an envelope of unflavored gelatin, then add to the hot mixture. When chilled, it will be nice and firm, without changing the flavor. LOVE Butterscotch pie! Your recipe has inspired me to make one. A story: I was babysitting a “grand cat,” and guests were coming for dinner. I’d baked a luscious lemon meringue pie, and it was a masterpiece… tall peaks of lightly browned merengue, and the made from scratch lemon filling perfect. I made a quick trip to pick up an item at the grocery store, and left the pie cooling on a rack. When I returned, Dylan the cat was up on the counter, licking his paws. He had licked off half the merengue…. We had ice cream for dessert.
My Dad, bless his soul, was the baker when I was growing up and he made a really good butterscotch pie. I sure miss those goodies almost as much as I miss him.

Thank you for sharing your family recipe. I use my mamaw's chocolate cream pie recipe. I have never thought about swapping the sugar for brown sugar and omitting the cocoa. I plan to try making a butterscotch pie this way soon. My ancestors migrated from Virginia into NC and then came down to settle in Louisiana. It amazes me how much alike my family is to yours. The things we say and food we cook are so similar. I often think we must be distantly related.
This channel has got cornbread on my mind. I'm watching this video while I got a batch in the oven. I saw Matt switch up the plates for the bigger slice! 😂
Love cream pie's. I made a Chocolate Cream Pie for two of my grandchildren that stayed with us during the summer. They had never had one before and after tasting one, they requested it twice in one week. Tipper after seeing how Matt, Katie and Corie were enjoying your's I think I am going to be making a Butterscotch pie soon.
My dad always said that he only liked three kinds of pie, hot warm and cold. It looks delicious and I will write down the recipe. Thank you for sharing.
My grandmother always added her eggs before the milk . When the milk was added then she would cook it . The eggs cooked slowly with the rest of the custard and the eggs cooked very smoothly. You're making me so hungry ❤️
Thanks Tipper. I love butterscotch pie and it's so easy to make. The hardest part for me is getting the crust right so I usually buy a frozen crust. My grandma taught me to beat the filling after it cooks. She used an egg beater. Boy those things take forever and wears you out by the time you're done when you're a little girl. Much Love ❤
Thank you for this channel and your cooking expertise. Long story short my grandmother was from the south near the Appalachian and moved to indiana in early 40’s, she made fantastic meals and cream pies. Unfortunately she passed before I had interest in cooking and she never used written recipes. My mom doesn’t cook or like to cook much and was no help either. That being said my mind was blown when i discovered you cook the same foods my grandmother did and I am so happy and thankful. I am a home cook for 30 years but I could never get the “southern” food taste and textures I was looking for. Thank you for unlocking the mysteries and sharing your stories.

My mother-in-law use to bake a couple for my husband to take to the Fire Department. They loved her Butterscotch pie. I never asked her for her recipe, she is long gone now, so this is meaningful to me.

At Christmas my Brother and I got to pick a pie for Mom to make. My brother always picked Raisin and I always picked Butterscotch. Not the boxed, it tastes totally different. Your pie looks wonderful.
I've not had butterscotch pie since Moby Dick was a sardine. Mama used to make it and it was divine. I'm like you, Tipper, I focus on the taste and texture of my food, not the appearance. I just tell folks just shut up and shovel, because eyeballs gots no tastebuds. My mother on the other had was an artist and a good cook. When she made a cream pie, the calf slobbers stood up about 2 inches and the peaks stood up and turned over. It looked like a cooking magazine cover. Great clip, Tipper.
I have made a homemade butterscotch pie for my husband. I got the recipe from his mother which came from his dad’s mother. Oh, lord! It’s a rich pie! But delicious!!

I plan to try making a butterscotch pie this way soon. My ancestors migrated from Virginia into NC and then came down to settle in Louisiana. It amazes me how much alike my family is to yours. The things we say and food we cook are so similar. I often think we must be distantly related.
I believe the word you are looking for Tipper is Brunch. As always it looks so delicious.
That pie looks delicious!
I have to try this - I love butterscotch, too. I also love that your family is so affectionate - I miss stealing a quick hug from my Dad
Butter anything is my favorite. Butterscotch reminds me of my Nanny (grandmother) and my childhood days
Good memories 😀
I am Canadian and I have never eaten butterscotch pie but now I think I will. I always loved those Mactosh caramels so this must be fantastic. 🤗
One of my fav too! My dad who didn't have a sweet tooth loved butterscotch. Yum. Good job
Too funny...Matt standing behind you licking his lips with fork in hand! I love butterscotch pie!
😀
So glad you enjoy our videos! Thank you 😊
OMGoodness - I haven't thought about Butterscotch Pie in years! Of course, now that you've posted this, I can't STOP thinking about it! 😂😂😂 Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! My mom's cream pies were the greatest, and her butterscotch one was among them. I haven't had a cream pie in ages.
I absolutely love the story of your wonderful pie and the connection between the generations of women in your family! Thank you so much for sharing that lovely memory with us! Can't wait to make this pie for my family! 💜💜💜
In school we give the kids breakfast for lunch, french toast sticks or pancake and sausage on a stick. It the type of food that's good anytime. Also the pie looked so good ,I wanted to reach through my screen and take a piece. Thank you for sharing.
My mother-in-law use to bake a couple for my husband to take to the Fire Department. They loved her Butterscotch pie. I never asked her for her recipe, she is long gone now, so this is meaningful to me.
My mother made lots of pies. She loved baking. She nor I have had a double boiler and we have managed without one. Your pie looks delicious. :)
My mother in law use to make two each of chocolate, lemon and coconut cream pies at Christmas. They were wonderful!
My mother made butterscotch pie made with filling from the Raleigh man. He sold Raleigh products out of his truck. Living out in the country we always looked forward to his visit. And we loved butterscotch pies.
I love love butterscotch. I love coblers mom and dad used to make from scratch
I love how at the end of your video's you always say you hope that we would drop back by.....heck I'd move in if I could !!!!! Looks yummy, I'm gonna have to make this. ❤️
😀
At Christmas my Brother and I got to pick a pie for Mom to make. My brother always picked Raisin and I always picked Butterscotch. Not the boxed, it tastes totally different. Your pie looks wonderful.
My great grandma use to make Butterscotch Pies when we went to visit. Never found her recipe but I need to try yours now!
Had a lovely lunch and then sat down to watch this episode. Now hungry again. Brilliant episode as usual. 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
I love sharing your memories and recipes! It makes me remembers the signature foods from my grandmas, aunties, etc 💛
No meringue for me….calf slobbers 🤣
I've not had butterscotch pie since Moby Dick was a sardine. Mama used to make it and it was divine. I'm like you, Tipper, I focus on the taste and texture of my food, not the appearance. I just tell folks just shut up and shovel, because eyeballs gots no tastebuds. My mother on the other had was an artist and a good cook. When she made a cream pie, the calf slobbers stood up about 2 inches and the peaks stood up and turned over. It looked like a cooking magazine cover. Great clip, Tipper.
We just call it breakfast supper. Your pie looks delicious!
I have made a homemade butterscotch pie for my husband. I got the recipe from his mother which came from his dad’s mother. Oh, lord! It’s a rich pie! But delicious!!
