- Tributes are pouring in for celebrity chef Michael Chiarello who died at the age of 61 after being treated for an allergic reaction. Chiarello was known for his Italian-influenced California cuisine and as a staple on the Food Network. NBC’s Anne Thompson shares a look back at Chiarello’s life.

I'm in shock. He was a great chef. I watch him every chance I get.
I’m shocked as well, as well as everyone else, I know. It came out of nowhere.
I’m so sad! He was one of the first chefs on Food Network that utterly amazed me and taught me so much. He always seemed like such a gentle soul. I hope he is at peace and his family will find comfort 🤍🫶🏻
RIP Michael Chiarello. I loved watching him on the food network. He made me want to visit Napa Valley.

Having many life threatening allergies, and being a personal chef, i know there are so many threats to my health to be aware of. I'm so very sorry for his loss. He was an inspiration to me. Allergy reaction is and has always been a real thing, chef tends to like to try exotic and new ingredients such as wild stuffs which can be risky to not know whether your body has allergy to it. Alternatively you have to prepare for the unexpected, always bring anti histamine
Ok I am slow. I had no idea he was dead! Oh my god. I can't believe Michael left us! I used to watch him on the food network on the weekends growing up. This is so sad. He was such a good chef and I loved his show. R.I.P chef Michael. You will be missed and remembered.

I too have started to have intolerance or maybe allergy to some thing out in our foods. Check the ingredients in a bag of flour. Or a loaf of bread or a bag of chips and on and on. Ultra processed foods are killing us.
Rest in peace, master Chef. Michael Chiarello has been working with food very long time. He knows, what he's allergic to and he certainly knows not to use those ingredients. He did not die to allergic reaction. RIP
He maybe didn’t know whatever cause the allergy. I thought if he was allergic why he didn’t have an epi pen? What do you think he died from? I read somewhere his face started swelling they given Benadryl at home and rush to the hospital and stopped breathing in the car to the hospital. I had a golden puppy he was 6 months he put his face on the ground and were wasps, his face swelled instantly and I had to take his collar, I gave him Benadryl well the vet did. Those reactions are instantly. Poor man
I'm afraid, he died of the same reason, 17 million people have suddenly died in the last 2 years. The reason must remain hidden from the public.

That's the first thing that came to my mind as well.
Do we know what he ate that he was allergic to? I have an allergy to mollusks and bivalves and I have to be sooo careful. I've had a reaction to one bite of clam chowder, and one bite of an
abalone sandwich. I was lucky. I passed out on both those occasions about 8 hours later. That was some 60 years ago. Being careful is very important.
