If NATO was drawn into this conflict, without a doubt, the USA would smack a bunker buster bomb on that bridge in a heart beat, putting an end to commerce to Crimea.
American certainly have capable weapon to destroy the bridge. But they will not provide to Ukraine. Reason? Do not want to escalate the conflict with Russia. This is what USA claimed
It would be awesome to have some kamikaze drone submarines, a few air force bombers and a few long range HIMARS all hit the bridges at the same time, right after letting some HARM missiles loose to take out all the air defence radar systems first. Poor rooskies are going to cry for years over the loss of those bridges! Cant wait...it is inevitable.
l would suggest buying an old surplus Frigate or Destroyer , disguising it as a Russian one with a few clever alterations , cram it with tonnes and tonnes of TNT into the bow with detonator on a timer , then sailing up the channel towards the bridge in the dark flying a Russian flag ! A skeleton crew on board just manning the guns and the ship would speed up then ram one of the bridge's large supports . Then after the crew escape the timer detonates the explosive !! l know a lot of countries who would willingly donate an ultra modern brand new Destroyer for this !! The Ukrainian's would accept gladly ! You don't look a Gift Horse in the mouth - as the saying goes !
I notice everyone is focused on the span. The bridge is as you stated, 11 miles long. To accomplish the goal of russia resupplying AL that needs to be done is create gaps in RR tracks and roadway. It doesn't even have to be long term repair damage. Just enough to require russia to spread its defenses along a longer line making the span more vulnerable. The Objectives is to stop the supply. That's an easier task to accomplish. Ukrainians are brilliant tactical battle planners. The bridge will cease to function before too much longer. A single attack with a train loaded with munitions crossing would be fatal as well. Be it a rocket or a bomb planted on said train. But coming down, it is. Glory to the Heros of the Azovstal Battalion! Never Forget the Olenvivka Massacre! Glory to the Defenders of Ukraine 🇺🇦! Glory to Beautiful Ukraine 🇺🇦! Glory to the Heros of Ukraine 🇺🇦!
Because the Ukrainians are such brilliant tactical planners, they keep on wasting troops at points where it doesn´t matter, instead of places where they are needed. Recently they took a village in the south of Donbas, while their defense lines in the east come under increasing pressure and the much hailed Kherson offensive died in its tracks and is about to turn into a retreat. You do know that anti-air and anti-missile systems have a certain range and thus don´t need to be clumped up in high numbers, don´t you? Furthermore, even the ATACMS that the US might deliver are not able to hit moving targets like trains. Getting a bomb into a military supply train that originated from deep within Russian territory is even harder. You seem to fudge the likelyhood of events in your favour to keep your dreams alive. But even in the event that Kiev could pull off a meaningful attack on the Kerch bridge, Moscow has already vowed massive retaliation. It wouldn´t be pretty.

Only problem is this is farther east than any of the airbases, possibly out of range of HIMARS. They would need to take back Kherson in order for it to be back in range

All this would not have happened if nato had had the same response as they gave in 2022 I personally never took much notice of this in 2014. how ever was this because it was not big news? I think by blowing up the railway system of the bridge would send a message to the Orcs living in occupied Crimea. Many would probably leave to the mainland and spread the word
You are right. We are about to see genuine terror on the face Russian solders and citizens.
The problem is the Crimean population is overwhelmingly ethnic Russian 1.5 million Russian vs 350000 Ukranians. Its historically Russian anyway so they simply took back what rightfully was theirs . Ukraine only had in from 1953 to 2014.

Well...
This did age well, didn't it?
NATO admitted they made a mistake. They did not react strongly enough in 2014 to the annexation of Crimea. They say this resulted in a war in the middle of Europe. Demilitarization of Crimea is now a top priority and NATO will support Ukraine fully for as long as it takes.
But could be the first Nug of Kiev....... !
Not reacting strong enough in 2014 was basically the same mistake the west made when Hitler occupied Austria and Sudetenland.

americans are making missiles specifically for this bridge….ukraine have to take out bridge in 1 try that’s why they haven’t try with himars…
Well , 1 try...yes
Turns out no Russia can’t. lol

@@rogerhudson2814 It's gonna happen !! Only a matter of time !!
l would suggest buying an old surplus Frigate or Destroyer , disguising it as a Russian one with a few clever alterations , cram it with tonnes and tonnes of TNT into the bow with detonator on a timer , then sailing up the channel towards the bridge in the dark flying a Russian flag !

UKRAINE, TAKE OUT THE KERCH BRIDGE ALREADY!!

Useless hiding the bridge with smoke screens or blinding enemy radar with reflective material on barges when anything used to target these bridges will use military GPS.
GPS because laser and radar guided is obscured. Anything big enough to have range, payload and navigation is protected against easily. 200 miles is out of himars range and drones and satellites are less able to guide if they can't see or are jammed.
