    In a word: nope!! Ukraine likely has ATACMS already or otherwise will almost surely get them soon, and international law is on their side. They will target those bridges very soon, within weeks if not days. And they will succeed. The bridges are a strategic target as they're the most-direct path for logistics and supply to the Kherson area
    Strategic error (arrogance) by Russia: building separate road & train bridges :: if one is hit, all traffic of that type is immediately ceased, whereas if traffic was split and only one bridge was hit, people & cargo still have a transit option

      The region around Mariupol needs to be taken as a missile launch site! Ukraine missile have the targeting accuracy to hit the right spot yet the structure needs to be hit with Armour piercing munitions! The best chance to directly take out the bridge is to get a load of munitions to explode under water beside the bridge supports, at multiple bases! Either drifting mines paired on cables or Seal like direct fastening the charges! This is a tough task! An alternate easier task is to hit the rail lines across the rail bridge as Russian trains cross them! Hopefully the derailed bridges can create the HIGH IMPACT explosives can not!

    • @TremereTT
      @TremereTT 2 года назад +6

      I think they could take out the bridge by simply sabotaging a train to derail or explode right on the moving parts of the bridge.
      Targeting and destroying such a bridge with an air-raid will not be sufficient.
      I think the car bridge could be best destroyed by parking two HGVs full of fertilzer soaked in diesel fuelright on the moving part of the bridge blowing tem up and simultaniously.
      We would not want the Bridge to be repairable.

      @Chester, I agree that any site in Russia directly contributing to the war, such as airbases, railroad staging yards, any storage deport, etc. should be on the target list. It's amazing that NATO quietly accepted that it's okay to blow up UA, but RU gets a free pass. I am hoping this changes as UA gets closer to the border. But for now, TACMS is not in UA because of this very silly rule. I am hoping that UA has developed an accurate long-range missile with help and this will change.

A skeleton crew on board just manning the guns and the ship would speed up then ram one of the bridge's large supports . I notice everyone is focused on the span. The bridge is as you stated, 11 miles long. To accomplish the goal of russia resupplying AL that needs to be done is create gaps in RR tracks and roadway. It doesn't even have to be long term repair damage. Just enough to require russia to spread its defenses along a longer line making the span more vulnerable. The Objectives is to stop the supply. That's an easier task to accomplish.
    Ukrainians are brilliant tactical battle planners. The bridge will cease to function before too much longer.
    A single attack with a train loaded with munitions crossing would be fatal as well. Be it a rocket or a bomb planted on said train.
    But coming down, it is.

      Because the Ukrainians are such brilliant tactical planners, they keep on wasting troops at points where it doesn´t matter, instead of places where they are needed. Recently they took a village in the south of Donbas, while their defense lines in the east come under increasing pressure and the much hailed Kherson offensive died in its tracks and is about to turn into a retreat.
      You do know that anti-air and anti-missile systems have a certain range and thus don´t need to be clumped up in high numbers, don´t you? Furthermore, even the ATACMS that the US might deliver are not able to hit moving targets like trains. Getting a bomb into a military supply train that originated from deep within Russian territory is even harder. You seem to fudge the likelyhood of events in your favour to keep your dreams alive.
      But even in the event that Kiev could pull off a meaningful attack on the Kerch bridge, Moscow has already vowed massive retaliation. It wouldn´t be pretty.
