Your exertion popping those sockets gave me a chuckle. Thanks for the very thorough and thoughtful review.

The Cresent pass-thru sets need an extension. Good news if you have already bought a Cresent set the Gear Wrench pass-thru extension work perfectly with the Cresent set.

GREAT PRACTICAL REVIEW...you need to be sponsored because you covered things I really care about as a buyer-the not rounded off part, bad grip, etc. I didn´t buy another pass thru from Harbor because it was way too short. These are things that really need to be considered by engineers.

Thank you. Very clear picture and audio. I'm considering these to tighten down anchor bolts to install wall hangers for tv installations.

Yeah those pass through sockets will be just fine wrenching on them. The 3/8 square drive will snap off way easier than the spline breaking. Pretty sure the ratchet would slip and break before any chance of those sockets breaking. Keep in mind the ratcheting part of the pass through will be like the regular square ratchet part so failure will be by brand and price than anything. I don't know why people think they would be weaker than a regular square drive as a very common repair is twisted or snapped off drive on them. That tube shape is far stronger even if its thinner. GearWrench is the one that did that spline drive as Crescent and even Craftsman bought the rights to use it and Craftsman was selling them up until Sears went under and they lost the right.
There is a channel on YT that did a test of a pass through vs square drive ratchets and the pass through beat the square drive and the fail was it snapping off. Not even enough force to damage the teeth on the ratchet part. The pass through used a hex drive instead of the spline but like any person knows about Hex head is camming out and rounding over the corners which the pass through suffered but that was after the arm of the ratchet was bending and delivered 325 ft lbs which most square drives will never come close before they snap off as 250 ft lbs is common for them to snap off. The spline would not have started to cam out. Even though it did reach that the pass through was still working as a ratchet even though it was a bit rough as it went for another test and the ratchet part failed not far above the 325 ft lbs.

The walls are and can perhaps be thinner because the steel gets compressed instead of 'being pressed apart' by the wench? Thanks for the review, it was informative. It did already order the 3 in 1 wretched before watching your video. Oops...., curious how I will like the tool.

It is a case for display; not for storage....surely.
