    One of the best machines for lace and tuck. Being able to make your own punch cards from plain paper is an awesome feature. I love mine! The push button KH-710 is another one.

      Mine is the KH585. Similar to the 710 but more "vintage" in feel. Sadly no fairisle setting, but apart from that, my favourite machine!

    Thank you for a great review and tutorial! Do you know if there's a ribber compatible with this machine? Thanks

    Hello, I have a KH-680 Brother knitting machine. It has all the parts and tools and is still in the original box. It has never been used and is in mint condition. I'm just wondering if you can tell me a little bit about it?

    I picked up one of these machines at my local Goodwill two years ago. It's been sitting at the end of my bed because I'm a chicken and did not want to be defeated in my quest. thank you for the video.

    Please I don’t understand how to activate the punchcards.
    Is it the same method for all the numbers

    Loving your videos Charlie, very informative. I hope you could get your hands on a Passap Selecta, it's such an odd machine and I'd love to see someone do a really detailed look into it

      Ha! I should be so lucky. It's basically a Duo single bed, with a Duo lock but a Deco card reader built in. It should also be said that it is not actually a very good machine, in that it does everything a Japanese metal bed machine does at only 4 times the weight and twice the size ..

      @@singlentendre what interests me about it is the ribbon patterning system, and how the machine translates that into the needles, I think if electronics hadn't come along when they had, it may well have been the future of patterning

    Great presentation Charlie. I am currently reviving my KH 800. Though the pattern mechanism advances, it does not return to the first row despite placing the glider on the vertical line. Does this mean I have to open the machine to check inside? Thank you.

    I have the opportunity to buy one of these....but I think I will pass. 😂
    It's a novelty, not a need.

      You can download the pattern book and the punch cards, which you will have to make and punch yourself, from machineknittingetc.com

      Supposedly the kr 580, 586, 587, 710 and 810 are compatible with the KH-800. They are all pretty uncommon so I’ve never had the chance to confirm they actually work.

    Hi, I recently bought KH710 (used) and I am struggling to get going with it. I am very new to machine knit; haven’t actually knitted yet. I changed the sponge bar now I am not sure if my carriage is broken or just set up incorrectly, the button called plain keeps popping out. I wonder if I could send it to someone for repairs. Could you recommend a good service?

    when i pull out a retaining bar the needles don't pop up, is it normal for this machine? on many others i noticed that the needles went up when not pressed down by it.

    • @singlentendre
      @singlentendre  2 года назад +1

      Very much depends on the machine. It tends to be punchcard and electronic machines where the needles pop up

      @@singlentendre I'm sorry, I meant to say that on this kh-800 for some reason they stay in place like there is no spring underneath them, but on toyota ks-905 needles went up without retaining bar. This kh-800 is my first Brother machine, so I remembered that on your channel you had a video about it. Great video, but alas not a repair/cleaning one so I couldn't confirm if your machine behaved the same way.

    • @singlentendre
      @singlentendre  2 года назад +2

      So I've checked, and no the needles don't pop up when you take the sponge bar out, because of the needle selection mechanism.
