I loved this rivalry. This is what really propelled Detroit to greatness. The previous years of being champions of the regular season and folding in the post season was Detroit’s problem. They were very talented but needed that killer instinct that the Avs had. I still hate the Avs… but not as much as I did. What amazing talent on both clubs. Can’t Wait
I was never a Avs or Wings fan but I’m so hyped for this it’s insane. This is the hockey I grew up watching. All these other sports don’t know a thing about rivalry. Players ready to kill each other. Coaches ready to kill each other. Two juggernaut teams with hall of famers up and down the lineup. 90s-early00s before the lockout was the best era of hockey.
I agree with everything you say. The sport will never be like this again, and it’s a damn shame. I was a huge Wings fan growing up in the 80s, 90s, and early 00s, but I fell out of love with the game after the lockout.
@@IntoTheWildFlyFishing Easily the best ever. All the Hall of Famers, the nastiness, the back n forth winning. No era was ever dominated by two teams so closely.
I’m not sure how things were in Detroit, but I’m pretty sure it was similar to Denver. Bars were packed for every Avs/Wings game. The rivalry definitely had an economic boost to Denver.
it's fun to relive this era. It was almost the end of REAL hockey. I still laugh at Claude the turtle (one of the cheapest players of all time), Vernon beating up Roy, Osgood with a win over Roy, Larionov busting open Forsberg, AVs blood all over the ice, AVs trainer whining and crying about anything possible, Adam Foote crying about a cut on his face, and the Wings winning more cups during that time and a few more after. Claude says he didn't try to hurt him. Are you kidding? Look at his entire career. Always a piece of sh!t. Great player in the playoffs but always a cheap player. Always.

Couldn't be more hyped for this.

Gotta love Vladdy's face at the end!
LGRW! I get chills just thinking about how amazing this rivalry was. Hopefully we can get relevant again and rekindle some of this fire!
Vlady!!!!!
This should be a 30 for 30.
Every time i see vladimir konstantinov I get chills-and I am not even a wings fan.
It must be an internal ESPN project. 30 for 30 was conceived as a platform for outside filmmakers to collaborate with ESPN.
Super STOKED to watch this documentary!
Best rivalry ever. I still hate the Aves. The third level of hell has a reservation for Claude Lemieux.
And now he's Seider's agent. Hopefully a bit of his nasty rubs off on Mo. We could use 15 years of a nasty, huge, physical defenseman.
Nope. Def not the best rivalry, ever. Not even top 5. But, a great one!
