Hi, we're the couple at 1:12 at the other table. We thoroughly enjoyed reliving this great cruise by watching your videos. Hopefully, we'll meet again on another cruise. We're doing a 12 night cruise in August on Viking Ocean from Venice to Barcelona and then a 17 day cruise in Sept to Japan, Korea and Taipei with Princess. We'll be home a week between cruises. This was our first Regent cruise and will not be our last. Happy travels to you!!
As I was putting the video together, I remembered that you had commented earlier about sitting next to us! Let me know how the cruises go later this year. Been looking at other cruise lines to try, but having some comparison from a Regent cruiser would be nice!
When I first read you are cruising in August, I was hoping Regent as we will be on the Explorer (6th cruise on Regent) Greece/Turkey. Maybe another cruise. Did you guys happen to film a tea time on Regent. You film so well I would love to see your take on it.
I have commented on your outstanding videos previously. I love your style. Let me tell you why. I began reviewing luxury products and Sevices after I retired. I could not find reviews from a customer or guest standpoint that were true and honest on luxury. What I did find was travel agents or influencers. As you have, I found this need and wanted to fill it. I am known as Mr. NCL Haven. My focus in my writing and videos is to create realistic guest expectations. You have so thoughtfully done that for me with this Regents series. You have also done a great service to RSSC. Thank you and cruise well.
Overall very nice and informative videos. Looks like the ship was not crowded at all. I want to go on a Regent cruise but my wife thinks it might be too crowded for her. Sorry to hear the speciality restaurants were not that good. Was looking forward to trying out the Pacific Rim. Looking forward to your next video.
No, please don't get me wrong. Pacific Rim and Chartreuse were both very good, but I just found the food in Compass Rose to be better. This was my fourth Regent cruise, and never have I felt that the ships were too crowded. Having been on one Carnival and one Royal Caribbean, trust me the Regent ships are a a godsend. The one thing, and this is more due to the rudeness of other passengers, is that it is hard to find a lounger in a shaded area near the pool. So, I think you should talk your wife into it. She will enjoy Regent!
@@Shello58 Tell me about it! We are waiting to see how Regent re-routes that portion of our cruise. I think they have changed the no penalty cancellation period. We will probably still go, wherever they re-route.
No, not on Silverseas yet. We are looking at them for a Panama Canal cruise in 2025. Osmo Pocket2 is great. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with for version 3!
I don’t know if it was this episode but we agree with Daren. Our best meals were in the Compass Room. Sette Mari was second, Chartreuse third and Prime fourth.
Thank you for sharing your experience on Regent Splendor. We will be taking our first cruise with Regent in June when we sail from Jerusalem (Haifa) to Venice on the Explorer! We sailed with Crystal last summer in the Bahamas on Serenity and over Christmas in the Caribbean on Symphony. Had a wonderful experience on both cruises. Luckily we had no future cruises booked with Crystal.
Thanks for watching! We hope to try other luxury lines in the future, but will probably steer away from Crystal for a while. We have just booked a 7 night in March 2023 with the Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection. They start sailing this May, so we will have to wait for reviews.
Love the Infinity Pool. The food in the Compass room restaurant looks delicious. And "just in case you don't like it, throw it here" . Regent seems like a very good cruise option. Great timing on the Crystal Cruise cancellation prior to their financial announcements.
Glad you enjoyed it. Still going to venture out to other cruise lines; just have to be careful! Watched your videos on Seychelles and Maldives a few days ago. Which do you prefer?
@Travels with Daren and Johnetta I enjoyed Seychelles more because of the opportunity to interact more with locals, delicious local cuisine and beaches with more character. My hon preferred the luxury of the Maldives and the pristine white sand beaches. You must do both.
Really enjoyed your Regent vlogs, and agree with you Compass Rose serves the best food on Regent. Your August cruise will be amazing, so many great places to visit. Look forward to seeing the Volga. We live in Wales UK. Best wishes Guy and Sandra.
Thank you! I was waiting for your last day video. The whole cruise experience you filmed was very good. Great quality and not a lot of extraneous stuff, like a lot of videos on the tour buses and ferries. One thing though, I agree with your assessment of the specialty restaurants, and to be honest I wasn't all that crazy about the Compass Rose. The meals did not look all that appetizing. I'd suggest checking out Oceania, but that's my two cents. Still, can't wait for your videos in the Baltic. Thanks again, will be looking out for you!
@@karensorbello5817 Oh yeah, it was very noisy. Don't remember that on other ships, but it has been a long time! As luck would have it, there were large noisy tables next to us in every specialty restaurant, with the exception of Pacific Rim. I actually bought some wireless lapel microphones after the trip to hopefully combat noisy restaurants in future videos.
@@DJTravels Hi, I looked at your video again, ( I miss cruising! and I like your videos. I agree with you re: meals in the specialty restaurants, they didn't look good compared to the Compass Rose. Also BTW, the airport in San Juan is the municipal airport. Funny story, when Iberia Air was flying the 747, they mistook that airport for the regular SJU international airport. Fortunately, they realized their mistake and aborted. But I would have not wanted to be the ATC when he looked up and saw a 747 on final approach to an airport commonly used to Cessnas! Probably had a bathroom break after that. Again, I really like your videos, just looked at the Key West one. Keep up the good work!
Johnetta just received her passport renewal on Friday, so we are good to go for the Baltic cruise. We were getting a little worried with the backup at the state department! We might (I stress "might") go on Oceania in the Med during August 2023. We are looking at several itineraries with different cruise lines. We need to build a vacation around a booking on August 16th on the Orient Express from Venice to Paris.
We were schedule to be on in March of 2020, cancelled due to COVID, and then we rebooked and upgraded in August of 2020. Decided to splurge and I think it was worth it!
Fairly dismayed with the lack of dress - and by that I mean I don't want to eat dinner with patrons in their T-shirts which is prevalent here. Food looks no more exceptional than what I've experienced on other ships, e.g. Princess. Most disconcerting was when one of the wait staff, cleaned the table and then cleaned the seats with the same cloth!! For this amount of money, Regent should not think they're that much better than other multi-star ships out there!
You could very well be right when it comes to the food. I have never been on Princess (or any of the "premium" class lines), so I have no frame of reference. Other commenters have suggest that we try Oceania, as they have the best food at sea. With regards to the dress, only on the last night was the evening dress code relaxed. Even then, I don't remember anyone wearing a t shirt, but I could be wrong. Oh well, to each his own!
@@DJTravels We sailed on Oceania and no, their food is not in an outstanding class! We tried every single one of their touted restaurants and each was worse than the previous. Many 'way over salted! Even dinner with friends who were in the Owner's Suite...was absolutely nothing to declare it even 'good' and they were attended to with outstanding attention. Breakfast on Oceania was far better on the outside deck than in the dining room. I can't say the breakfast on Princess is that much better than Regent as I don't see the entire service but what I do see, seems to be overpriced as Regent puts much precedence on their all-inclusive, pricey tours when you dock. We've enjoyed many independent excursions when we've found locals who have taken around their homeland, showed us places never on the map and introduced us to friends and family which made the experience so worthwhile! I would humbly suggest Seabourn is more worthy than Regent.
@@DJTravels I agree with you that when you find a suitable itinerary then you more thoroughly enjoy the cruise. We've enjoyed sailing to Hawaii from the west coast a couple of times as well as many ports in the Mediterranean. It's been some time since we traveled with Seabourn but the service was absolutely outstanding. The food was exceptional and on one cruise we encountered a massive storm which resulted in us missing a port which Seabourn immediately reimbursed every passenger onboard $250 each. Great customer service. Hard to find a good cup of coffee on these ships regardless the status you enjoy - Oceania's was like mud! At least on Princess you have the option of paying for a decent cup. Seabourn was generally acceptable.
At the Coffee Connection on Regent, the baristas make very good specialty coffees and espressos, and each restaurant also has a real espresso machine from which they can make the same. The general pour coffees are just mediocre. The automated machines found both on deck 11 and in the Coffee Connection make very good espresso also (never used those for lattes). And I am a coffee snob. I actually have a super-automated Phillips Xelsis at home!

Yes J and D, a Viking cruise will surely suit you both. If someone is cruising 2-3 times a year, all of them can’t be RSSC trips. 🤩🥺

Thank you for your kind review! I will be posting a new series from Regent Voyager as soon as I get a decent internet connection.
1:57 The Man was polite - but inside he was like "I'm gonna keep eating while it's hot". I think this is my new "who I wanna be when I grow up".
Had to go back and look at that one. But yeah, I don't play when it comes to food.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the vlog series. Looks like a great cruise to be one. Look forward to your next adventure.
