It appears regent have fantastic service and they they cater to their clients. The Ritz Carlton food looked fantastic!
Johnetta, somebody said do not do Seaborn. if you desire specialty coffee, you can order it from your room;however, you must pick it up! ruclips.net/video/UcldveodkOA/видео.html
my dream wouild be to curise on the silver seas.
but you said something about not everyone gets the buller. and i thought wait. and calle dthem. according to them everyone gets the butler
i can dream. lol
@@kathleemcallister If I said that, I was mistaken for sure! We are booked on Silverseas in 2024 for the Panama Canal cruise, and everyone does have a butler.
who has beef bacon and beef salami?
I just love seeing us ✊🏾 traveling in luxury ❤ Many blessings to you both!!!!
Thank you! 🤗
Me too!
As do I 💪🏽
🙄
Almost a year without a cruise?! The land-based trip sounds pretty amazing, though.
It's always difficult to get accurate price comparisons between lines, so we appreciate you taking the time to do the math. Regent $1,950/night vs Ritz Carlton $2,450/night is definitely a big difference, especially considering that Ritz Carlton isn't all-inclusive.
Thanks for the thorough comparative review.
It really is a big difference! You can't beat Regent for inclusiveness, that's for sure.
I love when Daren asked why you would want a Butler? He stated that they like to be waited on. Good for them. My brother and his wife have stayed on land at an all exclusive resort and had a butler and they loved it. We have never had a butler, maybe some day. How lucky Daren and Johnetta are to be able to travel the world. Continued Safe Travel and thank you for you videos. i get to watch your travel videos and see the world thru your eyes. So happy for you both and so jealous as well, but in a good way.
I would never be able to afford those ships, but I love watching you guys' videos.
Thanks!!
Need to send one more note, when dining at compass rose the secret in getting fresh hot cook food is to order the food in increments. When you put the order in, it all gets prepared at one time, and sits and waits in the warmer until you need it. So when we eat at compass rose all our food is fresh excellent hot warm. And normally we book in upper cabins so we eat at the specialty restaurants a lot and their food is usually excellent warm and if it's not, I send it back and have it re-cooked. So I know how to enjoy Regent to the maximum. Also my wife and I usually take longer trips 30 days, 60 days or world cruises.
Good to know the compass rose trick. Never thought about doing that.
I love this couple! (I have sailed twice on Regent Seven Seas - in a penthouse suite. Butler service is the only way to go.)
We agree, obviously!!
We have our first Regent cruise booked. We are in the Pacific Northwest. The line said the business class air will only be for the long haul portion. So from Portland to jumping off point from North America to the European embarkation port - say Chicago, Dallas, NJ, etc., that leg would be coach. So we took the air credit and booked the whole thing on air miles business and first class.
Yes, if you travel through Regent, your are in their hands and will fix any hiccups. But we’re heading 2 weeks early for a land portion so the concern is minimal.
Good job on this comparison!
Interesting. On our European cruise, we traveled from Orlando to New Jersey, then onto Copenhagen all in business class using Regent Air. I did wonder how we were able to do this, but of course, I didn’t raise the matter to Regent!
Great video. Love seeing the two of you having fun and enjoying life
Glad you enjoyed it
OK, I watched the entire video and was waiting for your decisions. I was surprised. Years ago, I actually had a 15 minute phone conversation with the CEO of Ritz Yachts and he was a true gentlemen. We discussed some of the area's you brought up. At that time, they were not ready to be a cruise company yet. The People, Communication were not Ritz like. They have evolved. I will be on Oceania Riviera for a 10 day Mediterranean cruise in a Vista Suite (1300 sf) in November 2023. I will share my findings. Thank you for the overview, it was delightful.
Wow, that is a huge suite!! On the Ritz, you have to treat it more like a traveling hotel and less like a cruise. The service for us was great, but others have voiced different opinions. We still like Regent for the cruise ship experience, but Ritz’s food was a step beyond!
Thanks for your review. I’m going on the Ritz Carlton Evrima on a Mediterranean cruise next week and i’m so excited! we got a 2 floor loft suite so that’s fun!
Very nice! Did you watch the whole series? If not, just make your dinner reservations right after you board, and do not miss Talaat Nam for lunch.
Thanks for the information! Yep we have got excursions fully booked and we have a private guide from the Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection before we get on the ship that will be guiding us around Barcelona and showing us cool places and landmarks!
We are staying in the Hotel Arts before we get on the ship and the St Regis in Rome when we leave.😊
I enjoyed your series on Evrima and the final wrap up. Your Evrima experience very much mirrored mine. This was our first cruise and one of the things that really struck me was how you could walk around Evrima and some large areas not see any people. It was very relaxed, uncrowded, and we never had any issues getting reservations or waiting on a table. I really like your videos; they are really informative.
Glad you enjoyed both the cruise and the videos. I had heard a lot of negative or neutral reviews prior, so I was pleasantly surprised!
I had great experiences with both Explorer and Splendor. My February 2023 Splendor had the best service I’ve ever had on any ship. I’m back on Explorer next February cruising Asian ports and on the Grandeur March 2025 crossing the Atlantic. I enjoy all the restaurants except the Prime 7, although the service was excellent.
Our Splendor dining experiences were good, but not great. And like you, Prime 7 was our least favorite. The food on Voyager and Explorer was much better!
Thanks for the detailed comparison. This will help put the Ritz product into perspective with other brands we've sailed on. We've sailed Oceania, Seabourn, Regent, HAL and Celebrity over the years. Regent for now will remain our preference, but we're planning to give Silversea, SeaDream and some other up market lines a try. If you sail Oceania, I would definitely recommend a cabin category that includes butler service and the layout that you prefer. We've sailed in the Oceania Suite and the size & layout would meet your preference and the butler service has been great. On the food side, they have the same restaurant concepts as Regent, but we found Regent's food better. I think in the premium cruise line category Oceania has probably the best food out there, but I wouldn't compare it to smaller luxury line cuisine. Safe travels and keep the videos rolling out.
Wow, we need to get out more! You have a much broader cruise perspective than us!
We are going to try Silverseas in December 2024 for a Panama Canal cruise. That should be fun. We want to try Seabourn and Oceania in the future, but so far, their itineraries have not worked for us.
Thanks for checking us out!
@@DJTravels Daren we look to you and your wife for inspiration for our travels. Looking forward to your reports on the Orient Express and Silversea. If you have questions on Oceania or Seabourn let me know and I'll share my insight & experiences.
@@gregbrogdon3445please consider posting your travels as content in the future
Thanks for the wrap up and your insights. Best comment: we are going to enjoy whatever we can for as long as we can. DITTO. Thank you for taking us along. We will be on Splendor in October. I will be most anxious for your Orient Express leg in September! Kimberly
Absolutely! As Red and Andy (Shawshank Redemption) said "Get busy living, or get busy dying".
Very informative. My husband and I have started cruising the last four years. Still learning but your video brought new light to new cruise lines. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! A few months ago we took a 23 day sailing from Miami to Venice Italy on Oceania Riviera and we absolutely loved the food, the service, and the price. In May we were back on the same ship to sail from Barcelona to Southampton in a suite with a butler! Our first time with that level of service. Wow! Although we didn't dock in Lisbon as scheduled due to a port worker's strike. We'll be on Oceania's new Vista ship in January 2025 from Los Angeles to Miami (Panama Canal), and we'd love to see you on board as well. Let us know if you're interested.
Thanks! I will look into the Panama canal trip. We ARE planning that for 2025 (not sure which ship or line), so I will let you know!
@@DJTravels Sounds good. We're looking forward to your experience on the Orient Express. We've been curious about the Rocky Mountaineer (Canada). It's on our bucket list.
Your video was fantastic. I have contemplated trying Ritz-Carlton but after listening to your video I will stay with Regent. My wife likes all the different activities on board, I'd like the all inclusive nature that Regent offers. We also both like the Butler and we feel the food is excellent compared to Silversea or Oceana. I am so glad you've convince me to never look at the Ritz Carlton. Thank you very much.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Johnetta & Daren, i'm one of those who like to kee you guys safe during your vacation time and I been working at sea 34yrs and in Cruise ships including Seabourn 26yrs. I'm very talkative person and usually during cruise like i was Safety Manager in Orient Line MS Marco Polo we have guest who stay up to 3 to 6 months and i like to talk with guest and get your feedback all the time, and many old guest they usually start asking a lot when they hear that i been working at sea since 1985. Also i do like your comparision between Regent and Ritz, but there is something what this time different as Ritz like to bring they "Hotel" brand at sea and there is a lot hick ups what is not working as they work in hotels, but i know they will gettting better and i do hope they keep new ships small category as there is people who like calm and sometimes not so active holiday life and when i was in Marco Polo (ship was build 1965) people like to sit and just talk, eat and nap.
Looking forward your next episode when MS Ilma come's out for Ritz (Btw MS ILMA (Rizt new ship) is in FINNISH language and means AIR) and Talaat Nam is Thai language and means Floating market (i'm FINNISH born and life in Thailand non tourist area 27yrs already)😇
Thank you for watching our videos. We enjoy meeting and talking with crew members from around the world as we travel.
We did a 14-night cruise on Regent's Splendor. I agree with your assessment, on the food. The food good but not great, due to about a third of the meals were not served warm enough when we got them. We had a superior suite (category "F"), which we liked a lot.
Yes, that is unfortunate. Funny thing that the food on Voyager was much better, but the ship lacked a lot of amenities.
Excellent video comparison, been looking at Ritz cruise and this was helpful.
Be sure to view the full playlist to get a better feel!
Beef rendang is Indonesian dish
Thanks! I had no idea what the origin was, but it was good!!
Thank you for that lovely detailed comparison. I found it particularly interesting as I have a son who currently works on Seven Seas and is looking to move to the Alvira. I am aware that the guest experiences and crew experiences differ, but it gives a general guide as to the differences between the two cruise lines. I love your videos and wish you both a beautiful, safe travel experience, wherever you may land. Many blessings from South Africa ✈⛴💞
Interesting. Our cabin stewardess also moved from Regent to Ritz Carlton Evrima. She found the workload and conditions much better on the Ritz.
Also, if you have watched the videos, we do get introductions from at least two SA crew members; Champ and Meghan!
@@DJTravels My son is in Guest Services currently. I'm wondering if the concierge positions enjoy the same satisfaction
I did see that. Ritz Carlton seem to enjoy South Africans 😁
I am new subscriber! I found your channel while looking for the new Ritz Carlton ship. I enjoyed your videos so much that I went back and watch all of your content. Now I can't wait for your next adventure. Thanks for sharing. I know doing these videos are a lot of work.
Thanks for subbing, and welcome aboard!
Thanks for sharing guys. Interesting points watching this. We are not experienced cruisers (2 cruises in 10 years). Looking forward to a future Ritz Carlton Cruise. I am not sure if the Regent Hotels and Regent Cruises are linked, but for hotels we have a slight preference for Regents over Ritz.
As an Engineer, I love the idea of calculating price per square feet and also factoring in the total cost💯
Thanks for watching! I did not even know that there were Regent hotels?
The price per sq ft was really the only reasonable way to normalize the data (nerd talk for the engineers)!
We had 4 butlers at various hotels. I wasn't impressed but it made it easier for booking their 4 star restaurants.
Our butlers on Regent were pretty good. We could have used them for more things, like packing and unpacking, but that seemed like overkill.
Love your videos! You guys must put Explora Journeys on your list. It’s the new small, luxury cruise line owned by MSC. The food is now being touted as the best at sea! All inclusive except for excursions and 1 of the specialty restaurants. One ship in the line right now and a second one coming later this year.
Thanks for the tip! I have seen a few ads for the line, but not yet seen a YT review. I will check it out!
Great video! Heading out on the Mariner July 1 Athens to Rome we’re excited we’ve only cruised celebrity before
Have fun! First Regent cruise we took in 2008 was on the Mariner to Alaska. Sold us on Regent for many years to come!
Very nice comparison video. The one big advantage of having a butler that I can see is the speciality dining reservations, cause if you try to book yourself you will get the sorry we are booked solid esp if trying to book for a special occasion.
Agreed! Our butler on Voyager really took care of us on my birthday in 2022
Fantastic video I’m so happy to see the positive reviews with the Ritz Carlton and by the way when is your next Ritz Carlton video going to be displayed on RUclips I’m highly anticipating a review from your San Juan to San Juan voyage
Oh sorry, we had some other trips come up, and we cancelled that cruise. We are going to Africa (non cruise) in September and October, and then a Panama Canal cruise on Silverseas in December.
❤ awesome review! Can’t wait to follow you on your next adventure. Thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
Beef Rendang - is more South East Asian - specifically Malaysian and Indonesian cuisines. We grew up eating beef rendang
It was very good, but I have never had it before. So, I don't know how authentic their rendition was.
Thank you for sailing the Seas videos. Learn alot. ✨ 🕊️ 🌅 ⛵
Thanks!!
Safe travels you guys!
Very interesting about the differences in food quality. That might be a deciding factor for me.
If food is more important than shipboard activities, then I would definitely lean toward Ritz!
@@DJTravels I was surprised that RC worked out to be more per night than RSS. The rates were very reasonable when they first launched but I see that they’ve gone up. I rarely go to cruise ship programs or shows so happy to hear that they leave to you alone. Lol
@@PiaAdora Please bear in mind that my calculations were based on two Regent cruises and one Ritz cruise. Your mileage my vary!
We have cruised on Regent many times including back to back over Christmas and New Years.
Yes, Regent is very nice! We are going to do Silverseas over Christmas and New Years 2024-2025.
Enjoy your videos very much. Discovered you on CC. Seabourn is still our favorite over all smaller ship cruise lines...highly recommended. BTW; Beef Rengdang is one of Inodnesia's national dishes and is regarded by many to be amongst the worlds greatest dishes. Cheers!
Welcome aboard! Haven’t tried Seabourne…….yet. Doing Silverseas Panama Canal over the holidays later this year. Yeah, that beef rengdang was excellent, but I have no frame of reference for how it should taste. Ha ha!
We have been on 3 cruises, 2 royal and 1 disney. I love the royal cruises and the entertainment was really good. I'm use to seeing broadway shows in nyc and royal did a great job. I want to go on celebrity 😩. Dying to get on the edge or apex ships.
Yeah, we have tried to get on the Edge and Beyond ships, but the itineraries just haven't worked out for us.
D&J, when will you go on the Viking Ships? No casinos and no children on board.😊
Maybe in 2025-2026. We have our travel already scheduled through the end of 2024.
Great videos. You said you were on Mariner- did you do a video of that cruise?
I didn't. That was way back in 2008! I knew nothing about videos or RUclips at that time!!
We love Regent cruises.
You may want to check out Oceania .They offer a lot on small ships for a much more reasonable price. You opinion would be nice. The R ships are still nice.
Yes, I have only heard good things about Oceania! We only do one, maybe two cruises a year, so who knows when we will get to Oceania.
great review
I've enjoyed your videos very much and I have a couple of questions regarding the inclusive wines and champagne - who had the best in this category? Also, will you be cruising with Ponant in the future? I've heard they have very good food and drinks. Lastly, do you have to tips on an all-inclusive cruise?
Thanks for watching! On both cruises, wine, champagne, beer, most hard liquor and cocktails are all included. Some of the more expensive liquors (Pappy Van Winkle whiskey, Louis XIV Cognac, etc.) are offered at a premium.
We are looking at Ponant for a short Great Lakes cruise, but nothing planned yet.
I don't really have any further advice, just find the one that suits your travel style. You really can't go wrong with the luxury brands.
Another great video. I recently found your channel and am so glad I did. I so enjoy all your travels and hope you continue to share them. Stay safe and happy!!!
Welcome aboard!
Thank you for your review. I really enjoyed your videos. Have you ever been on Viking ships
Not yet!
I’ve seen a lot of really not so great reviews on the Ritz Carlton Luxury cruises on their 600 ft yacht. Concierge service that doesn’t show up for customers, broken Jacuzzi, more than one of the cruises that was reviewed, Food and dining that was not five star, no staff on the decks, champagne and drinks floating in containers with no ice because staff have tended to them in hrs as they are out in the sun. I mean this was the same in several reviews on line here on U Tube. They have a lot of damage control to do.
As I said in response to your post on another video, our experience was not the same. Our concierge greeted us upon arrival, the food was the best we have had on multiple cruises, and the service was mostly five star. Perhaps the reviews you are reading or seeing had a different experience or their standard are different. I feel ours are pretty high!
Love your travels... thanks for sharing😊
Thanks!!
I never even heard of the regent seas. 😢
Expensive, but pretty nice.
I’d love you to try Oceania!
We may sometime in the future. Itineraries have just not aligned with our travel plans yet.
I have heard…..Oceania’s food is the best at sea but the older ships are a bit worn as far as furniture and flooring. I have not been on Oceania.
Great video! Have you tried Seabourn? How did that compare?
Not yet! The dates and itineraries have not lined up with our travels plans yet. Possibly in 2025!
I'm on RSSC Splendor in November (Transatlantic from Barcelona to Miami). Have you ever sailed Silversea? Doing an Iceland cruise on the Silver Moon. Love your videos!
Not yet! Looking at a Panama Canal on Silversea in 2025. You will enjoy Splendor!!
Iceland is cold. I think they have been to Alaska……..but generally warm holidays are preferred. Right?
Great videos; thanks for sharing. How was the wifi on your Ritz trip?
Wifi is actually not bad. But they have restrictions on the type of data you can download. Emails and web pages work fine, but you have to pay extra to be able to stream videos. Can't remember the price.
Love your reportsv
Thanks!!
Hello, ive seen many videos about Regent and id like to ask about the age range on both ships. Does Regent mainly cater to 55 & over? As far as entertainment, activities, etc?
Yes. However, there are a wide range of excursions for more active younger people.
how would you compare regent to seaborn or viking?
Never been on Seabourn or Viking. We will be on Silverseas in December.
Love you guys. Have you ever been on Oceania??
No, not yet! Itineraries have not worked out for us so far.
Nice😃
Thanks 😄
Any plans to sail on the new regent 7 seas grandeur?
No plans as of yet. But who knows???
when you're cruising do they keep your passport the passenger ships personnel?
In the Caribbean, no. But in Europe, when you go between EU nations and Great Britain, yes. So it is really inconsistent.
Ritz Carlton, or Seaborn good?
We have not been on Seabourn, but I have only heard good things!
@@DJTravels Please go seaborn and compare it to Regent !
Seaborn!
Ritz Carlton is more luxury than RSSC because the size of the ships... Ritz is more of yachts... RSSC has bigger ships.
Depends on your perspective. Regent's service is better, but Ritz's food was much better.
@@DJTravels My mom been on Seven Seas Explorer twice for Alaska cruise. Id like to try them but don't know if I can (Convicted Felon) Ritz Carlton on the other hand i nearly fell out my chair when i saw the price.
Our first Regent cruise was on the Seven Seas Mariner to Alaska back in 2008. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Next year, we plan to drive the new RV up to Alaska.
@@DJTravels Id like to do Alaska I never been but also would like to do Round trip Hawaii.
I love this information but if you have only been on the Ritz Carlton ship….this is not fair yet.
No, we have been on the Ritz Carlton ship once, but we have sailed on Regent 5 or 6 times. See our playlists for the three most recent Regent cruises. We were also on Regent 3 other times, but that was before we even knew what RUclips was!!
Listen again.
