    Over 80,000 fans witnessed first hand the genius that is Lionel Messi. You can see the burden lifted off his back when Messi scored. What a great pass from Di Maria to pick Messi out. I was very impressed by the two youngsters Enzo Fernandez and Julian Alvarez.

      @Bebeto_7 You're so off, you're going to fall of the earth, which is flat. Messi is rated no. 1 player in Europe, so the best player in the world. Ronaldo, I couldn't find ANY rating for. He had more goals than Messi, but so effing what. He was hogging goals and disadvantaging his team. Don't forget, Man U has been reletated WITH Ronaldo, Barca has been relegated WITHOUT Messi. Messi has the most MOTMs of anyone. He is contributing to almost all goals. No one wants Ronaldo, at least 4 top clubs plus MLS want Messi.

      @gouthameow Год назад +13

      @@joaovitorcamargo7165 actually Mexico started with a 5 defenders line which isn't how they usually started. So it was hard to create chances there and Mexico's strategy to create pressure for Argentina really worked, there was mispasses by Argentina and I guess Mexico was trying to capitalise on mistakes or counters and it seemed like Mexico didn't even want to try to win even if they aren't safe like Poland which made Argentina even more pressurized because draw isn't good for Argentina.
      And Argentina couldn't build up a proper goal until then, Messi's long shot really saved the game for them. After the goal, Mexico changed the defensive conservative approach and that's when both teams actually played some interesting football because Mexico started trailing and they were forced to change their defensive tactic.

      He is going to start. That is argentina for u, if u score u start in the next game but if u make a costly error you’ll be benched . They’ve been doing this for as long as i can remember and thats one of the reasons why they always struggle to win. They haven’t had a consistent 11 since the 2014 world cup where they actually managed to reach the finals by fighting till the end, however the issue was..that “solid” 11 wasn’t really “solid . Now that they can build a strong solid 11 , good players like romero get benched for one costly mistake, which may be a good enough reason to bench someone but all you’re doing is ruining his confidence even more than it was after having made that mistake.

    Mexico had a simple game plan, finish the game 0-0 and beat SA and qualify. They wanted to do whatever was necessary, maintain a deep line, a compact shape, and play very physically. They looked like they wanted to injure the Argentinians! For about 63 minutes this was successful, but if you give Messi even half a yard of space, he will punish you, and *that’s* what made the difference. Now they can no longer resort to the same plan, they have to start to score, and the game opens up for Argentina.

      @@JR-Weh That's a problem fans have, honestly I used to have the same thing. Imagine if Romero didn't play against Saudi and Argentina lost, people would say, had Romero played this wouldn't have happened. Maybe you're right, maybe Alvarez would have picked up Messi's run, or maybe he's have caused a penalty much earlier in the game. Difficult to say. I don't know what these pundits are on about. If Mexico had nicked one of their setpieces and successfully packed the bus, they would have been saying masterclass.
      It's just how these things go, there is no master strategy or master selection, you just do you best to manage as many situations in the game, but you can't manage all of them. It's not like Messi was left in acres of space as they say, watch the goal, he was instantly closed down, but Messi's touch set it up perfectly to be hit very quickly. Literally a quarter of yard of space.

Messi and Di Maria had to drop deep all the way back into their own half just to get a touch of the ball. They cannot be dangerous from their own half. Argentina's midfielders, particularly De Paul couldn't even string 3 passes together to set the forwards up. There wasn't much the forwards could do but for Messi's brilliance.

    The game was absolutely not low quality up until the goal. It’s one of the most physical and intense games I’ve ever watched. The first half was a continual battle in the midfield where we saw almost zero chances on either goal because the ball was never actually collected. The work rate from both teams was ridiculous. The second half you started to see more chances because the Mexico players got tired, you can’t keep up that level of intensity and pressure forever. Messi’s goal was literally the first time at any point in the game that a player got the ball in space in a dangerous position. And he punished the very first defensive error by Mexico. I just feel like scaloni needs to make the right line up especially with that midfield cause I swear they were lucky ....scaloni is really allowing them to suffer Lauturo Martinez should also not be playing... Alvarez maybe 🤷🏾‍♂️
