- On today's photography vlog, I was wrong. Like, really wrong. But, it led to some great photography anyways!
I left on this vlog early in the morning. I wanted to shoot some photography down on the coast of Greece in the port of Heraklion. When I got there, I was sure that the light was going to be lame. It was cloudy on the horizon, which usually leads to pretty average photographs.
But, as the morning drew on, the light got really nice, and the photography turned from average to epic. If every vlog day here in Greece can go like this, I'll be stoked.
After the sunrise photography, I headed home to relax and then in the afternoon @Alajode and I went out to get some ice cream and explore a bit of Heraklion. I really do like it here. I think the Greece photography vlog series is going to be a lot of fun!

we have a cheat day too. we call ours F%$k it Friday, as we generally eat pizza and lots of it. When the kids are around we call it pizza Friday.

Actually, our town is the most central city on the island. The south side is only 45 min by car and the cities left and right are 1-1.5h away. Best historical places are on your side! Best beaches are on the south and west side. Gosh, this comment will be buried among so many others and I have so much to suggest!
Here is a basic idea of what you could see depending on what exactly you are looking for:
HISTORICAL: Knossos, Phaestus, Monastery of Prevelis, maybe cave of Zeus and Frangokastello?
TROPICAL: Elafonisi, Balos, Prevelis, maybe Seitan Limani and Kalypso?
SIGHTSEEING: any other city than where you are right now. If you ever visit Rethymnon and its old city, remenber that Agios Nikolaos looks more of the same but smaller/condenced, and Chania more of the same but bigger, more cosmopolitan.
WANDERING: Samaria (biggest gorge in Europe) and Imbros (half the length but was actually in the older days the only path to the south, old pathways are still to see)

Another great video...our on a roll...Georgia now this! WTF!!! Awesome. I just had it with my screw on, Tiffen and Hoya filters...the color casting, seems to be the only thing my eye goes to. Thinking hard about NiSi and Lee. Btw what camera are you using for your slow motion ("b-roll")?

How about Perseus (slayer of Medusa)? Yesterday, shortly after sunrise there was a break between the fog and the clouds and suddenly there was color everywhere in the sky. I'm so glad I'd stayed a bit longer. Who was it that said most people arrive too late and leave too early?

Nice video as always Brendan! But why is the image stabilisation turned off by longer exposure shots?
IS is motor-driven and it "hums" creating a minor vibration if the camera is still. It seems backwards, but if the camera is steady, it does more harm than good. Lots of the new lenses have a function that the IS on triggers when the camera shutter is pressed, so it's not as important anymore.

Is there a way to stop the motion blur of the boats while also doing long exposure? Can you blend a short exposure to freeze the boat with a long exposure to calm the water into one image? Is that even possible?
Certainly possible, but cumbersome if the movement of the boats is too strong as you have to mask it out carefully. Otherwise it might appear as a bad retouching.
Nice vlog as always but can you do a review of your tripod? I am thinking about getting the winston and need help... Manfrotto 055 carbon or 3 legged thing winston?

In Greece quads are called "pigs". In odyssey the witch Circe turned Odysseus's crew into pigs. Avenge his crew and call the quad "Circe". :P
hello i have a simple request. Is it possible to add the nd filters which you use on the picture you show wtih the details time 7:05. you see f/16, 15 sec, iso 100 and the 50mm but not the nd filters. iam trying to learn to use the nd filters for myself but its kind of tricky =)
Well, I think it's a fun practice for you guys to try to figure it out.
Analyze the image:
- How bright does it look outside?
- How does that correlate to the image's shutter speed (how would I make that shutter speed if it was that dark / bright).
It's a good habit to get in. Looking at other people's photos and trying to "figure them out".
And, yes, I will try to add the filters into the info for a while ;)

Bike Name Suggestion: "Saphira" - is the fictional dragon of the boy "Eragon", the hero of a 4-books written by Christopher Paolini (Google: Eragon series" or the "Inheritance Cycle". The first book, Eragon, was converted into a movie. Caution: If you watched this movie, you probably will become anxious to read the rest of the story, There is another dragon in Eragon called "Glaeder", not as accomplished as Saphira.. From this name I could suggest a derivative name "Glider". Thus, Saphira, Glaeder, or Glider all sounds good.

OK...love your videos...but it can't be a quad bike. Bike as in bi or two means two wheels. Quad as in 4 or 4 wheels. Sorry... but that's like calling a monopod a tripod. :)
