// My Story
I am currently a software developer who once modeled and thought I wanted to pursue a career in the fashion industry. While I was modeling in Hong Kong, I eventually felt the desire to further my education. I decided to depart the modeling world and move back to Canada, knowing that could be the end of my modeling opportunities. I attended Ryerson University for GCM (Graphic Communications Management), as I thought I might still work in the fashion industry in another capacity. It was in my last year of university, I was introduced to a very basic coding course. I instantly fell in love. From there I knew I wanted to pursue software development but didn't have a clue where to start. I didn't want to go back to university as I just completed a four-year degree. I decided to enroll in a 10-week intensive coding Bootcamp. From there I started working at a small startup learning and growing my technical and soft skills. I then transitioned to a larger company where I am a software developer and technical consultant today.

i think tech people should be jumping with joy because of possibilities. Others should be shaking in their boots eg artists. What I also see is the possibilities of being an entrepreneur. People who are able to augment AI the best will have an unfair advantage, so much so that even companies like Amazon might want to stem the reliance of AI. If it takes one guy to do 1000s of jobs, how many people would be able to compete and surpass corporations.
Should I jump ship to the manual labor trades industry? I heard welders pay very well.

I am a over 50 IT guy worked mostly in Telecom. You definitely cannot ever say well I have made it because so many times the technology changes and your years of experience quickly become irrelevant. You have to be willing to change and learn constantly. Honestly thats what makes it such a great field to be in
What is the best thing to learn right now I am about to finish a one year bootcamp and I am feeling I should start making openai projects and sell them online in some way while I am at it

Considering IT is a field in which one has to learn constantly, in your opinion, is IT an ageist field?

Congrats!! That is really exciting, so happy to hear you are enjoying it. Building the future!!
@@TiffInTech Yeah! It’s great! I’m from Denmark! And to get back to the video, I don’t think AI will ever take over the human’s jobs completely due to the fact that someone needed to code the AI in the first place + Maintenance will always have to be done to a computer at some point.

You are spot on 30 years now as a software engineer. And the only way to keep on top is keep learning it never stops and you and ai is an assistant to earn.
Starting of this video is just amazing. The dialogue between Jinny and Tiff is captivating.
The most in demand skills, always were and will always be: LISTENING, LEARNING, INTELLECTUAL CURIOSITY, ADAPTIVE, PROACTIVE, COMMON SENSE, DELAYED GRATIFICATION. Nothing matters without those, or matter little. I employ 309 people and from what I have seen, those are by far the most important. No matter your hard skills at whatever you do, missing the above will eventually cap your ability to get high level jobs.
@Juan Ocampo Well no, these are soft skills, probably the most important ones out of dozens. The hard skills are knowing how and being capable of actually doing a particular task.
So basically, AI will replace 90% of the workforce

I'm in my last year of high school and I have to start thinking about building my future, you helped me so much clearing my mind thank you!
12:14 Similar to what you mentioned about companies transitioning to Cloud, brands are transitioning to Social Media for marketing. I have even seen TV ads that mimic vlogs and tiktoks in their format: vertical screen with someone talking to a camera. The same way media now is read on the internet, I think Digital Marketing will be a thing because brands will prefer to promote their products on social media rather than on TV.
Such great content Tiff, thank you for sharing.
Found your post interesting to watch. I can't wait to see your new videos soon. Good Luck with the upcoming update. This RUclips channel is really very informative and effective.

Working on a degree in Digital Media Technolgy, with a focus on web development. Not gonna lie, the fear that what I am learning is going to be obsolete in 5 - 10 years feels very real. This video makes me feel a bit better. Anyway, you have gained a sub.
@Henryk Z. Dumb comments ftw
@Henryk Z. I say that you should problably stop watching movies, AI will boost software development and help programmers to develop more complex softwares, IT WILL NOT take jobs from developers, it will only be different, you will need to be an engineer, not a random guy that likes to code, because jobs will be more focused on arquithecture and design patterns, AI will implement the easy boring code and give programmers time to focus on real software problems
@Henryk Z. love your take on this! 👍🏽
@Henryk Z. 2 years are just nothing. we have thousands of companies over the world and "AI" won't and can't be implemented by all of them. even if, it will take much longer than a few years. alone the computing power and people who can work reliable with the systems and afterwards identify and fix the errors the "AI" will make, will cost a bunch of money and time.
God i saw this today im doing IT COURSE as well this was a punch to the gut like its more like 1 year away MAKES me nervous
Great thoughts! Thank you for all your efforts put in creating this video!
Only question is how to find the necessary things to learn and learn them fast enough to use them properly

I m picking Cybersecurity because you said so😊 & plus I agree with it relevancy in future years. I'm a react front end developer btw. I love your videos & always looking forward to ur videos♥️.
@Daniel Emenike It's funny, we're in the exact same positions. I just started to go into cybersec this year and I'm actualy working as a frontend with React. I started this transition because I think frontend will be one of the first fields to be replaced by AI.
@@paulopma Wow, congrats bro on making the transition. Honestly, most of the tasks we do are repetitive and I also needed something more exciting than coding web front end pages. Our experience of react is actually a plus in the Cyber security field, since we already understand how the web works. Cheers mate

Same here! I'm currently working as a Tech Analyst in a really niche area of Finance for the past 4 years but I'm looking to switch into a different career and Data Science is top of my list right now.
GROWTH MINDSET.
Well..the whole video can be summarized in this word :)
I'll be starting my paid internship next week, and probably I'll be able to use the Tech skills I've learned since last summer. However, it doesn't mean I'll stop my learning journey. I'll continue to learn my data analytics skill.
Btw, your soft voice and presentation skill are a real advantage over other related RUclipsrs. Maybe, I'll watch more of your videos. Thanks for posting it!😇
Love it ❤ Well done! 🎉
Thank you! Cheers!
I feel Product management and Product design should be added to your list as technology evolves new products in various areas from A.I, Cloud, etc still needs this two skill sets to develop a good product out there as well as for each product most especially developed either in machine learning a product manager still needs to work with such product team to develop that and achieve a great market ecosystem just a thought though.

Thanks, Tiff...this meant a lot to me!
This is one of your best videos, Tiffany.
Wow, thank you! That means so much!
Hi Tiff: Just sub. to your channel. You are thinkig way down the road, and I like that. I am older person who is going into cybersecurity and software engineering. It is total mindset to learning and getting a job.l Tiff think of me as a guy that wants to work with your grandparents in the field of mental health. I want to use these two fields to pay for neuroscience stuff in the field of dementia. As this video shows, I am looking down the road from an aging perspective. Is the aging bias being blown out of the water. Yup. You can learn at any age. In my own journey Ms. T. it is important to look at cybersecurity from a business perspective or holistic view. You are spot on with the need for project management in software engineering and cybersecurity. Solid future insight. Keep up the good work. Your content is very practical.
currently trying to get my ccna and become a network engineer. Going to be very interesting in the coming years with it.
Thanks so much for share your knowledge. I love to know about new IT. 🙂
Hey tiff great vid and editing!
Can you make a detailed video on cybersecurity, how to get started, what certifications to have and salary trends..As cybercrimes increase every year , it is obvious this is going to be a in demand field.. But according to my research the entry level roles in this field weren't to clear and what as to engineers exactly do..If its penetration testing, attacking own systems to check for vulnerability,.code maintainance or network management.. would love a detailed vid on the same
This is one exciting field because the learning never stops. It gets very uncomfortable to be hit with the REFRESH button everytime we feel we have mastered the technolgy. If ever it is felt that there is no need to keep upgrading our skills, then it is time to quit IT. But damn, what a great time it is. So many things to learn & too little time!
You’re like an ant in a lot of ways. You’re a good little worker ant. Keep hitting refresh. Keep learning. Keep doing it to stay relevant and valuable to a company that provides a service. Keep doing it as we live through this exciting time of creating a monster.

Hi I am a Senior Graphic Designer with 5+ Years of Experience, currently working as an Art Director at a company, I am eager to start Cyber Security and also want to pursue Masters in it because I am done Bachelors in Computer Science this June,2022. What do you suggest me should I go for Cyber Security or stay in Designing and get into UI UX design maybe? If I should go into Cyber Security, can you suggest me where to start from?
Thanks for the insights its really helpful
Yes! Agreed, subscribed.
Another VERY IMPORTANT skill for the future:
Acting skills, public speaking and having great confidence in front of the camera. And @Tiff in Tech has got it!
Oh I think videography is good to have too :).
Fantastic material! Indeed, there is miscommunication between cybersecurity market and big tech companies creating consumer products. Last week, I attended the RSA conference here in San Francisco (~3,000 attendees, 600 exhibitors). I asked many business representatives at their stands about openings, and they all reacted the same way: "Yes, we desperately need more pairs of hands! Do you know anyone who is available and might start now?"
Yes, most of cybersecurity companies are not household names like Google or Apple that you can impress your relatives with at Christmas party. And yet, they have stable business models, are anti-fragile and resilient to recession, and produce services that are clearly at the benefit of us all. And if you are a seasoned tech professional, your competencies are easily transferable to cybersecurity.
hmm, so you think that if I am on the Data Analysis path, it is good choice to me ? honestly when the AI topics exploded I was thinking that jobs like data analyst will be the one of the first which could be substituted by AI in IT.

When do you get the change to learn and practice new skills with a full time job and youtube? I cant seem to find 2-3 hours with a full time hybrid job and there are many things and areas that i wanna learn but this results with being in front of pc all day every day. Love to hear your advice.
Hi Jack! It is not easy, Im not going to lie. For me, I need to enroll in structured classes to hold me accountable. Also, recognizing that there are seasons when it just doesnt work to learn a ton of new things and that is okay! I also try and intertwine learning into my job. Seeing what technologies I can learn at work that would benefit the company too.
Hi Tiffany,
Please can you clarify when you say software development. Does it include web development? Also, I heard that AI can perform some data analytics. Is this true? If its true, can there be a threat to data analysts? I have never, never been so confused on what to do. This AI thing is causing too much confusions and panic. This is a very confusing time for those who wanna get in tech.
Thank you for opening up and sharing your thoughts! Yes, web development would be under software development. I know this is not a perfect answer but honestly do not let AI stop you from learning whatever area you are passionate about. That knowledge you gain you can continue to build on. Remember that AI doesnt just affect tech. It affects all industries. Being in tech and having these skills gives us the ability to build and grow along side it.

What would be the best career now through 2030 and beyond for remote work that also pays well. I am wanting to travel and work while we still can.
I've named off over 100 skills I've done, but because I didn't know one single thing off the top of my head without being allowed 30 seconds to look it up real quick, I failed the interview. It was "what is a repository". I answered a place to store your code for version control... wrong. It was "an abstraction layer between the data access layer and the business logic layer of an application".
Makes complete sense, we are seeing it already, today's program manager cannot be just a people manager, even if they need to talk to his team he needs to know programming, but this shift needs to be initiated by the companies also, they need to invest little more in training their engineers to learn these, and shift to these mindset.

Don't worry Tiff. AI may replace your programming abilities but it can't replace your beauty. Haha, continuous learning is the way to go. I'm learning python and using Chatgpt to help me code and debug. I'm not sure if it's hindering me or furthering my progress for learning how to code because I feel like I am copying and pasting at times. I can eventually read and understand the code but I don't think I would have come up or wrote it that way. Is this the same as other devs finding code snippets on forums and using it?
Thanks for sharing! Honestly, even without chatpgt, people have been using sites like Stackoverflow and taking that code for years! As long as you understand it as you are using code from it. The reality is AI helping people code isnt going anywhere so it sounds like you are on the right path by embracing it.
The way I see it is AI will not replace skilled developers, but skilled developers will leverage the AI tech and the need to hire junior developers will decrease in the future.
