- For the MBTA Commuter Rail's South Coast Rail project, some creativity was needed for this #BuildingABetterT job. A new 80 foot railroad bridge was built off-site and rolled on tracks to the spot. Working over the Assonet River, the old span was demolished and new one set over 11 days.

Thats one solid bridge that will be there for centuries to come. Great work and great video of all the the fantastic work
AWESOME!!!!
Cool
The process is a modified one from installing new road bridges over small-width creeks and rivers/gullies - the modification is that it is brought in by rail - not road. It's even the same type of bridge - I've seen them used in MDOT/SHA projects in Maryland. Civil engineers do this sort of thing routinely - so do military engineers. It's a slick piece of work - but routine.
