      My optometrist office quoted me $427 for a pair of single vision glasses in the least expensive frames they had. The only upgrades I asked for were anti-reflective coating and polycarbonate lenses.
      I came home and ordered two pair from Zenni with better frames. My total, including shipping was $47.75. That included $4.95 shipping and a $5 off coupon. The glasses were $23.90 per pair. I could have bought 17 pair for $406.30, added $4.95 for shipping ($411.25 total) and had $15.75 left over from the $427.

    $100 for plastic? that's nothing lol my 2nd pair of prescription glasses were $600 (they even came with a free case!) and they weren't even anything "fancy" like transition lenses. i was so glad when i found zenni because i knew i was getting hosed for my prescription lenses. i think people feel trapped because they don't realize you can use your prescription anywhere, it's not like a drug prescription, they're just angles of glass or whatever so you could even give a company someone else's prescription and they don't care, you still get your glasses.

    My entire experience with PG has been the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I have been in upper management and very aware of the importance of customer satisfaction, unfortunately, PG does not share that philosophy. I would guess the main concern a customer has about purchasing eyeglasses online is "what if there is a problem", will there be a hassle in getting an exchange/refund? I ordered a pair of glasses for my husband ( total was $94), and after doing so realized I had not selected his "saved" prescription, but my own. This was on a Friday night. I immediately called the following day (Saturday) and was told the order was being processed in the lab (which I did not believe). After explaining my issue to the representative she did say they would issue a "one time 100% store exchange". Great, I thought, as I did not wish to have a refund. I ended up selecting a better fitting frame for my husband, which was less expensive.
    Because the representative stated there was a 100% store exchange, I proceeded to select a pair of prescription sunglasses as well. The revised order came out to $104 (more than the original order). In my next conversation with the representative, I specifically asked if the credit could be used for "additional items", which she replied "yes". After giving her my replacement glasses info as well as the other product info., she then tells me the 100% store exchange can only be used for one pair of glasses and if I selected a replacement pair that was less, I would forfeit the remaining credit???? WHAT??? I challenged her on the policy as it made no sense. since I did not want a refund but only to use my full credit. Rather than explain the purpose of the policy, she continued to repeat, "I'm sorry, but this is our policy" She could have cared less that about customer satisfaction, so I asked to speak with a supervisor, at which point she indicated she was the supervisor (obviously not a properly trained one, because after reviewing the return policy of PG, nowhere does it state only one pair of glasses could be used in an exchange situation. In fact, it says the exact opposite (100% Store Exchange).
    I have written a letter to someone in a higher position and we'll have to wait to see what happens. I advise anyone who wishes to purchase eyeglasses online, stay far away from PG. I ended up using EyeBuyDirect for a pair of glasses for my daughter and received excellent customer service.

    My 1st pair was from Walmart because my old pair broke. (I was thinking I could get my glasses in 2hrs) Not! Progressive glasses take a few weeks. Those cost me $600 and I found the cheapest frames. They scratched very easily also using their cleaning cloths.
    My current pair is from 39dollarglasses & I love them. These cost me $289
    I just ordered another pair as a back up or maybe use my current pair as a back up pair from Eyebuydirect & I got those for $95! Out the door w/ a 30% discount code! That's the cheapest "Munroe" style Transition, Progressive glasses I've ever bought! I'm hoping they are good.. 🤟

    Enjoyed watching your video, it was very informative. I bought a pair of glasses from Eyebuy Direct and I wasn't happy with the glasses nor the lenses that I picked out. I wanted to like them so much, but the lenses I purchased didn't transition like they were suppose to, they did transition but not as sark as they should have transitioned. They should have transitioned into sunglasses when I went outdoors, instead they only transitioned to a shade darker than what they originally were. My brother took pictures of me outside in the sun -my eyes were very visible through the lenses- and the lenses went 1 shade to a very light tint. Needless to say I will not buy another pair from Eyebuy Direct.

    There is a lack of competition in this area, this leads to high pricing. I have no quarrel with that line of thought. Just my personal opinion based on my own experience.

    Hey! Thanks for making this video. I bought some Zennis (two pairs) and they both give me a weird fish bowl effect, which I read is common at first. Just feels like the floor is so far away and everything kind of tilts. Did you ever have this experience with new glasses bought online? Just bought a pair from Eyebuydirect to see if maybe their lenses won’t give me distortion. Let me know your experience if you can, thanks! Rachel

    • @Craylor
      @Craylor  6 лет назад +2

      Hey Rachel,
      If this is your first pair of glasses or your first pair with a new prescription, you may just have to get used to it. If this is a prescription you're used to already, it looks like you may have entered the pupillary distance wrong, or maybe you entered your prescription wrong. If you are sure you entered it right, you may want to get new measurements made with your optometrist. I'm not really sure, but that shouldn't happen! Reach out to their support and they should take care of it.
      I hope that helps!

    • @JayeK47
      @JayeK47 4 года назад +5

      It's most likely the frames but not a defect per se. They probably have too much pantoscopic tilt for your prescription. That's the angle of the lens in relation to the eye - or if you prefer, the angle of the front of the frame in relation to the arms. If there is too much pantoscopic tilt in the frames, then when you look straight ahead you're effectively looking through a different prescription. This is useful in glasses for farsightedness and presbyopia, where you're looking down most of the time like at a desk or newspaper but not so much for nearsightedness. In the old round wire frames, pantoscopic tilt is nearly infinitely adjustable, with bar wire metal frames, it can be adjusted a little bit and not at all in plastic frames. If you wear bifocals, the pantoscopic tilt can be set for the ADD prescription portion and calculations done to correct the prescription for the distance vision portion. Normal glasses will have about 7-8 degrees of pantoscopic tilt but it can be up to double that in certain frames.

    The metal reinforcement in the temple is not necessarily a deal breaker. If the frames are made of TR-90 they really don't need the metal reinforcement. That's not just my opinion. Ray-Ban sells nylon (i.e., TR-90) frames without the metal in the temple for over $100.
    For decades acetate has been considered the best non-metal material for frames. TR-90 is changing that. It matches or surpasses acetate in every way imaginable, especially cost since TR-90 is injection molded and does not need to be machined like acetate.

    • @Craylor
      @Craylor  2 года назад

      Good to know! I don't doubt that there's strong enough plastic out there to eliminate the need for metal stabilizers. However, in the case of these websites, the plastic/build quality is often so cheap that I find the metal necessary. I'm sure that differs from premium brands like Ray-Ban

    I HATE ZENNI! I’ve been a customer for three years, ordering at least two pairs of prescription glasses a year-just for fun.
    They have a great selection and amazing prices. They used to have great
    customer service and stood behind their products. That all changed this year.
    *January 2019- I ordered a new pair of prescription glasses. This time the
    prescription in the right lens was incorrect. Sent it back and told it was Zenni’s mistake. They made a new pair of prescription
    glasses with the same frame. Three months later, I received my replacement, but
    the left nose guard was missing. U contacted Zenni and was told they would send me a new nose
    guard. I received it in May, but couldn't put it on the wire nose prop. The
    plastic was stuck together. Contacted Zenni AGAIN. After
    trying all of the customer service person's hints on what to do, even though I
    told him it the tiny plastic nub was stuck together; leaving no room for it to
    slip onto the wire, his solution was for Zenni to ship me
    replacement frames. Then I would only have to pop out the lens from the broken
    frame and pop them into the new frames. I don't feel comfortable POPPING out
    prescription lens. At this point, I am frustrated! I ask if I can send the
    glasses back for a credit, so I can buy another pair of glasses with different
    frames. I’m told that I will only get 50% credit, because the second pair of
    glasses was partially paid for with credit Zenni gave me from the first pair of glasses that was
    badly made???? I tried to talk to a supervisor, but no one wanted to help me. I
    gave up talking to a wall of indifference and decided to take off the remaining
    nose guard from the second pair of prescription glasses I received and wear
    them as back up glasses. PLUS, I’M NEVER ORDERING FROM ZENNI AGAIN. I don't
    know if they changed management at the beginning of 2019 or just stopped caring
    about customers. I promised them I would be telling everyone within the sound
    of my voice to never buy from Zenni from now one.
    Plus, I plan on using social media and GOOGLE to warn other people about their
    change of customer and quality service.. SHAME ON ZENNI FOR TREATING A VALUED
    CUSTOMER SO POORLY!

      @@gypsyqueen1339 I personally find that EBD's lenses are lower quality than Zenni optical. After wearing the Zenni optical ones that they sent me in this video full time, my prescription changed. I had a large credit at EBD so I ordered some blue light blocking glasses from there in a similar style. The prescription was spot on but the blue coating wasn't working for me. I sent them back and ordered the same exact ones I had from Zenni with the new prescription. I got 2 pairs of sunglasses from EBD though and I love them both, so I think it is just the blue light blocking coating from EBD that makes things off. With that being said, EBD has PHENOMENAL customer support. They have always bent over backwards to make sure I've been happy. I've never had to use Zenni's support, but you aren't the first person to say you weren't happy with your customer service experience there.
