Considering it’s a pick 7 years from now and Klay’s defense is lackluster now, I love this pickup.
klay's defense at his worst if far better than hield's best. how many teams has hield been on these past few years. moody is better at 21 than the 32 year old hield.
@@rayh3391 Totally disagree. Everyone wanted Hield the last 3-4 years. His defense is lacking but not much less than current Klay. But would you rather have a guy that takes 10-15 shots a game or one who previously took twice as much for only a few more points. Klay’s best days are long gone and he still is in denial, thinking he’s almost as good as Steph….. he’s not. Let those extra shot attempts go to people who can score. Not just a guy thinking he’s going to make that game winner every game, just like every kid and then he misses.
@@Lancet711I don't think they gain anything defensively from Hield(maybe I could be wrong) but I do think from a playmaking standpoint, they upgraded from last year's version of Klay with Hield and Melton. I love Klay, but the dropoff was too noticeable. The sad part is, it's not even Klay's fault. Injuries happen, even tho we rather them not happen.

What Melton, Hield and Anderson do better than Klay is not take frustrating contested shots and can finish at the rim.

Hield is solid signing. Bringing Lauri to the team would be awesome but not at the cost of losing current roster players. If they can't bring him in then just bring in a veteran big man.

This is a great offseason move, I like this signing. I campaigned for Buddy Hield 2 years ago. LeBron James wanted him 4 years ago with the Lakers. I've been telling people over the past 5 years that people have fallen asleep on this guy, he's been right with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. This was definitely a Grade A trade.

We have to be lawyers and accountants beforehand to understand trades, contracts, etc. with the new CBA. We also have to pay attention to when contracts expire. For whatever reason, this signing encourages me a bit from my Klay(and Chris Paul) depression.
I gotta admit despite Klay leaving hurts a little especially looking at how much contract, passed on a 2 year 48 mill for a 3 year 50 mill means he doesn’t want to be here anymore and Dubs won’t contend at all. Klay was the one player that shot us out of the playoffs. Didnt do anything in the play in with zero points. I’m glad the Dubs countered with a signing and 3 trades. The draft day trade, Kyle Anderson, Buddy Hield and it costed just 2 second rounders, 1 on draft day, 1 for Hield then traded back into second for possibly your future center.
I'll take hield,slo mo and Melton over klay. It adds plenty of depth and matches the shooting very closely with hield

Slo mo adds some taller help the warriors lack so badly, Melton is a decent roll player and hield matches klay shooting. This was a nice move.

The problem with the Buddy Heal deal is lack of defense. When the Warriors were on top they had a top defense. Without the ablity to stop your opponent the warriors are going nowhere.
They have more flexibility. Imagine if they have Lavine and Lauri
Klay also had a poor defense post injury. The problem is he cant shoot consistently. Hield can shoot though so that makes up for it

This is an A deal, no doubt! Warriors now have GP2, Moody, Podz, Melton, and Hield; who all play the off guard position. So, I wonder if we are packaging a couple of them into a Lauri Markkanen deal (I think it’ll be GP2 and Moody personally + 3 1st round picks) definitely 2 guards will be included into the deal though. We can’t afford to give up a big, Warriors are light in the frontcourt positions.
IF we by chance land Lauri...the starting 5 of Steph, Buddy, JK, Dray, Lauri and a Bench of Podz, Deandre, Moody, Kyle, TJD lowkey has a chance on a ring

Losing old klay and chris paul are actually a good thing for the warriors and in place of buddy heild, melton and anderson is a win2x situation for the franchise moving forward. If they find a way to trade for markennen without losing so much, it certainly an ideal off season for warriors and their fans..

My main worry with what you say is that Moody will be in the package for Lauri(who didn't play well against us in the last game we played against Utah). This is not a basketball worry necessarily. I just love watching Moody. He inspires me. I don't mention Steph, because I don't want to screw up pure genius/mastery.

Let's stop with narratives, and go with what I believe might have happened, based on watching the games. Klay was starting to approach his old defense, but regressed a bit towards the very end. Was this due to fatigue(he was used a lot.), his previous injuries, or ? Age alone, based on what I saw in the playoffs, could explain this. Now, this observation was from actually watching the games.
Adding hield slo mo and hield is better return then klay in his current state. Adds way more depth and matches klays shooting. Klay had no defense anyway

This trade won't impact it but we currently have about a 5% chance to land Laurie anyways (and that 5% chance assumes the fact that we are the favorites to land him)
I've heard the warriors are the favorite to land him. So I don't know. i'm assuming it's probably higher than five percent...

It continues to amaze me how pundits like you guys here (and i like you) so quickly assume things before the play out even when they obviously aren't played out....and then also how you show four straight years of stats on a guy in this case Hield, bet you don't put the all important minutes played next to them, which in this case with a borderline starter would be helpful.
clearly Hield's stats went down last year. The minutes played and coach and him situation would have helped get to the bottom of that more.
I never really liked Hield that much, but that's only because earlier on he was being talked about as a high paid player. Since then reality has sunk in, but that's good both for cost and that him realizing he was overrated may get the best out of him...which i think is a smarter great shooter who understands when to not be a gunner better, accept it's not his night as the team goes elsewhere for the most part until his next shift and the chance that he finds his stroke again.
Unless he can do more, and let's be honest, name of dudes game is 3s.

I don't think you were consciously trying to make his latest season look bad, i just don't think you're thorough in the way you think about it.....of course we need that nuance there, to not give it....just a missed opp, i hope i'm helping, lol, peace, take care, i'm rooting for you, give a bit more detailed stats nothing fancy simply as in this case minutes played, get to the nuance of the issue, don't leave it right there talking about it but not having minutes played.
This makes:
1. Newcomers to the game misled. To them it's not minutes, they don't know about rotations, they see those stats dip, don't understand coaches, new teams, situations, etc.
2. Just seems...why? I'm left incredulous that you wouldn't put that key stat.

@@rayh3391 I love Klay but in the last 5 years he has played a little over 2 he takes a lot of shots and when he is hot and hitting he's really good the problem is when he is not hitting he hurts the team he lets it get in his head and makes bad mental mistakes so right now Buddy is probably a little better if Klay was even close to his old self teams would have been lining up and giving him big bucks the warriors treated him very well but he is having a hard time accepting who he is right now but we will see i hope he tears it up in Dallas
