I like your channel and your content. I’m a subscriber. This vid could’ve been better if you had an actual dirty suede shoe/boot and showed you cleaning it and the result.

Thanks for the sub! And good advice -- maybe I'll update the vid when one of my suede boots gets dirty

Wish you would have actually cleaned a dirty boot.

Awesome video 👍 but I think the cleaning technique can be improved, I would say that general-purpose leather cleaner and leather oil are an important step because suede and nubuck are leather and they will dry out. I would think the suede eraser is more of a quick fix, whereas the cleaner/oil will give a deep clean and make the shoe last longer, so probably do it every few months. Im thinking the lexol cleaner/oil at walmart would work just fine for $7.

Great point! I've found this method to do the trick for me, but I've never really gotten my suede super dirty. I'll look more into lexol--thanks for the tip! And thank you so much for watching--- I really appreciate it!

@@BootSpy actually I just got some lexol yesterday and I think it's too pastie to use on luxury suede but it might be fine on cheaper suede shoes, I would recommend the aerosol mink oil, I think Angelus or Saphir look the best

Can I use this method for nubuck boots?

I was hoping that I could use my leather cleaners on my suede boots, but they all say “not recommended for suede or nubuck “. Boohoo!

Ugh. I have tried EVERYTHING to clean my Chippewa rough-out boots. Hundreds of videos on youtube etc all assume that the boot has just minor dirt that you can brush or erase out. Hah! What a joke. If you've been, say, driving in your boots and rubbing them against the transmission housing in your car for hundreds of hours you can kiss all these toy approaches goodbyt.
In fact, I'm not even interested in 'cleaning' these boots... I'm looking for suggestions on dubbin or grease to totally cover the boots. Forget the nap and that nice blonde coloring -- that's dead for all time. How/what do I use to coat these boots with something to at least get the whole boot the same color?

Clean as best as possible using vinegar and an eraser then get some beeswax or if you prefer one of the wax touch ups for waxed flesh boots, Nick's or White's sells them, and then apply lightly over surface of entire boot moving in one direction, then brush down knap and leave overnight in a warm not hot place. Your roughouts are now waxed flesh. Repeat as required.

@@thedemonnemo Really appreciate your suggestion. Problem is: I checked both Nick's and White's and couldn't find a product specifically id'd for waxed flesh boots. Can you be more specific or just provide a link? I know.... I know... it's not fair to ask for additional work, but I promise to speak well of you in public gatherings and the like. Besides... I'm wearing those rough-out boots right now, and they're looking at me accusingly and wondering why I only wear them at home and never take them out. I don't have the heart to tell 'em. Thanks in advance!

You should not wear suede shoes in situations you know they will get dirty. It is too high maintenance that is your first mistake. Wear regular leather boots if your shoes get dirty that often

It should help a lot. If you also get suede cleaner spray, that will definitely do the trick!

I wouldn't say that using suede protector was optional. Not using it is an exercise in masochism. Unless you have a fetish for cleaning shoes.
