I just made some dough I had to slightly change it though cause I didn’t have corn flour so I used whits flour . I had a half dozen stale graham crackers so I added them but I think it turned out good . When I was a young teenager there was a old guy that fished for carp with his secret recipe for dough balls . He always caught fish , wish I knew his recipe . He was in a low military pension so he ate all the carp . He used to make a lot of fish cakes. He drank beer by the muscenetcong creek in Bloomsbury n j and caught carp . What a life
Most of all my videos are not set in stone. I always tell people just use it as a reference and be creative with anything extra you add. My dad was the same way, he always had his secrets and took some home for the neighbors to eat. Thanks for watching!
1 cup water 1 cup sugar (bring to boil) 1 cup flour 1 cup of corn meal. 2 tsp vanilla extract. mix like crazy, and knead into flour/corn meal. pop in the fridge until use. Also, if your using chicken liver, for catfish, some of the blood will make 'blood balls', by just mixing it in...
Thank you Brian for a very informative and straightforward video, you did an excellent job! Many years ago ( 50 + ) someone gave me a recipe for dough balls for carp, but instead of molasses the recipe called for strawberry jello. I had never fished for carp before but they loved this stuff, and reeling them in was a blast!!! Thanks again Brian, I'll be trying it this weekend. Stay safe.
Nice video. I used the same products. I also used cinnamon and garlic powder. It worked great, caught a 20plus catfish on my coach pier!!!Scooped it out with a clothes hamper.
After using your Dough Ball Bait recipe, I caught my first carp of 2022. Success at last after weeks of blank sessions. A question for you Brian, I want to keep leftover bait for several days in a fridge, will doing this change the effectiveness of the bait, Great videos, thanks.
Awesome! Glad you caught! Honestly I would just make fresh to use on the hook. I would keep the old in the fridge and use it to chum a little bit before fishing to attract them in. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! I've been using a similar bait, but it's a red color. The company stopped making it. I just started search things that I thought were in it, and found your video... Kinda new to carp fishing, probably caught less than 150lbs Worth. Today caught lil one, under 11lbs
thanks for the video. Just started carp fishing this year, and craving info. Question, you said you went away from dough balls for more sophisticated methods. Assume that you mean method feeders/boilies? Is your catch rate significantly higher? Chumming in California? I wrote to the DFW and asked why chumming is apparently legal in some regions, and not others (mine). No response.
You can vary the break time on it. Water temp plays a big role in it also. Before I cast out I will throw a little near the edge to see how long the break down time is. Keep in mind the carp will suck in the dough even if it broke down and the hook will still go in. Thanks for watching.
I don't think it will hold the shape after it is in the water. Boilies have a lot of ingredients and binders to hold everything together under water. Thanks for watching!
Wow good old cornmeal. I grew up using this stuff. We'd always add either vanilla extract, jello, or peanut butter to ours. I was surprised to hear youre a multi species angler. Do you ever target catfish, musky, or pike?
+Bare Rocks Entertainment Thanks for watching. Yes I target everything! I still go for catfish and pike. I never went for musky but a few lakes nearby have them. I still like to just go out for some bluegills and perch once in a while as well.
Thanks for watching. I noticed a lot of things that used to work the big reason they do not now is too many preservatives in them that were not there before. Maybe try a different brand and look at any add ins that are in the ingredients.
Ive tried this and didnt catch nothing there were carp everywhere in the water i could see them swimming and jumping but it looked like the were feeding more on the top of the water so could i change to get the bait on top water cause it was at the bottom and they didnt see it?
I'm in s.w. Florida and trying to catch these damn pacu & other aquarium fish that have been dumped in our lake w/ Betty crocker pizza crust dough balls! lol wish me luck! ;-)
i never cared about carp fishing but once i found out how use full carp was for catching big blue cats, well now i see the use fullness of carp. nothing works better for a 50 pound catfish like a big fat juicy carp head. thanks for the video its helpful
BigolJoe i do use baby carp in the summer for alligator gar if i can get it to stay out thier am shure a flat head would take it but the gar kill all my live bait
jack clockwood Need a heavy enough weight to keep it from being able to run around, and gotta fish it right under the catfish's nose so to speak, instead of fishing it out in a channel waiting for patrolling fish. Fish big brush and rockpiles and make sure you got enough lead down there so that carp cant move it. which is alot cause even baby carp are strong swimmers. Good fishin bud. =) Ps. Im in TX so I know all about that gar struggle lol! Good luck out there!
More modern angler? I don't think you can get more modern than dough ball. Some of the rigs and baits people use for carp now are hilarious. Yes, they catch carp, but all things being equal, I haven't seen any of them that attract and hook carp nearly as well as good dough ball. Though I don't think the dough ball you're going to make with those ingredients will be a very good attractor. You have nothing in the dough ball that will reach way out and draw the fish in. With good dough ball, you don't need an attractor, and you certainly don't need to chum. There are a million recipes, but the tried and true ones always have an ingredient that dissolves off the surface of the dough ball, and spreads out quickly, while leaving the body of the dough ball intact.
James Ritchie I read your comments really impressive on this video. Do you have any effective carp bait recipe, if so, please help me in this regard. I shall be very grateful to you. I am searching an effective carp bait recipe since long but could not be succeeded.

If you are brown sugar Goods a better color more sweeter and some oats ground up give it a better pace

Yea I use strawberry or cherry jello
Hey man ur recipe the bait holds up overnight atleast and I just stored it In the fridge took some fishing with me yesterday and the carp love it
Nice video. I used the same products. I also used cinnamon and garlic powder. It worked great, caught a 20plus catfish on my coach pier!!!Scooped it out with a clothes hamper.
Thanks for watching! Cinnamon works really well. Never thought of a clothes hamper, that is a good idea
Great stuff man! Blast from the past for sure! I used to do the same with packets of jello back in the day. Great video as always fella!

I just started yes I'm gonna use it as a starter kit..and trout especially
Good luck! Thanks for watching
Hi i am your brother from kuwait it’s very nice and eazy bait thanks and i’ll try it
Hope you enjoy

Thanks for watching! Glad it helped and good luck fishing!
Maybe I'll get my first carp now. Thanks mate
Good luck out there! Thanks for watching.
Cant wait to try this next weekend with my 6 year old son thank you
+shi no How did you end up doing?
+Brian Wingard he love it it worked out great
+shi no Excellent! If you ever have any questions please let me know. Have a fun time fishing!
To make this recipe more compact I was thinking of adding wheaties. Would you recommend adding them when you add the dry to the molasses’s?
im curious what the advanced version of it would be?
Me too
Bait works awesome but if you add equal flour and corn meal it holds way better on the hook
I enjoy watching these videos
+leon Langford Thanks for watching, glad you enjoy them.
thx brian .. enjoyed your videos ..keep em coming
+Lukas Medvecky Thanks for watching!

Great video great bait for kids to make too
+Robert White Yes fun for the whole family and easy to do
How fast does that break down? How often would you reel your line back in to check and re bait? We typically use just corn
You can vary the break time on it. Water temp plays a big role in it also. Before I cast out I will throw a little near the edge to see how long the break down time is. Keep in mind the carp will suck in the dough even if it broke down and the hook will still go in. Thanks for watching.
Hi. I would like the more advanced recipe you mentioned in the movie. I live in Australia and we have a lot of carp band no catfish.
If you ball this up ahead of time and let dry, can this be used as a boilie itself?
I don't think it will hold the shape after it is in the water. Boilies have a lot of ingredients and binders to hold everything together under water. Thanks for watching!
What’s a good way to rig the ball I was just gonna use a small circle hook with a split shot
Thanks for watching. I would say that would work just fine.
Wow good old cornmeal. I grew up using this stuff. We'd always add either vanilla extract, jello, or peanut butter to ours.
I was surprised to hear youre a multi species angler. Do you ever target catfish, musky, or pike?

Will it work with just the manseca only without the cornmeal .?
Thanks for watching! the cornmeal will help it to break down some.
When I was a kid I used to just make a paste bait out of white bread and vanilla extract. Still catch cats on it but carp won’t touch it anymore.
Thanks for watching. I noticed a lot of things that used to work the big reason they do not now is too many preservatives in them that were not there before. Maybe try a different brand and look at any add ins that are in the ingredients.
How do you make it for trout? The same way or do you use a different favor instead of molasses?
Do you have to use a bobber
Could this be used as pack bait for high current areas
Thanks for watching. Yes and if you add more flour as a binder it will slow the break time down.
@@BrianWingard thank you can't wait to see more recipes
I like using canned corn for bait but I think I should give dough a try.
If u freeze & thaw it will it still be possible malleable?
Thanks for watching. I never had to freeze any yet. I usually use it all but I think it would be better fresh.
Thanks for the info. Can't wait to get back out there
How long does it last in the fridge and without fridge? Thanks!
Thanks for watching. Since there are no preservatives only a day or two I would imagine. I never had to because I use all of it when I go out.
Do you have any cottonseed meal recipes
Thanks for watching. I do not think I have any recipes for that.
Do u have to boil it ? What if just water but no boiling ?
You want to boil it as this will release amino acids.
You think it would work if I boil strawberry jello instead of what u used?????
Ive tried this and didnt catch nothing there were carp everywhere in the water i could see them swimming and jumping but it looked like the were feeding more on the top of the water so could i change to get the bait on top water cause it was at the bottom and they didnt see it?
Have CCMOORE bait range for labeo rohita fish? If they have so please let me know. Thanks
How do you make dough balls for fishing
Thanks for watching. This recipe is used for fishing.
I'm in s.w. Florida and trying to catch these damn pacu & other aquarium fish that have been dumped in our lake w/ Betty crocker pizza crust dough balls! lol wish me luck! ;-)
Thankx! What I need is a line they will bite but not break, they've broken my line at least 4 times in 1 month... lol
My dad would wrap in a old t shirt wet shirt and wrap doughball before going to fishing spot
Hey guys can some one help me out on how to make dough bait I saw the video but I don't have the liquid molasses what else can you use to make it
corn syrup
could you use honey instead of malassis just thinking
I would imagine honey would work well. It may not be as thick but should attract the carp. Thanks for watching!
i never cared about carp fishing but once i found out how use full carp was for catching big blue cats, well now i see the use fullness of carp. nothing works better for a 50 pound catfish like a big fat juicy carp head. thanks for the video its helpful
+jack clockwood If you like fishing for flatheads try a baby carp (maybe 6-8inches) live. Damn good flathead bait
How well do you think it works from 1 to 10 ?
+fishing addict Every bait has its time in place. I like to offer a lot of variety so the anglers watching can choose their own style of fishing.
@@BrianWingard I subscribed based on this answer alone (besides the content of course) because of the proper spelling of the word "their"!
is that dates molasses ? if not , does dates molasses work ?
can you keep it over night and use it the next day ?
How can I make carp dough with bloodworms
does it matter what brand of mollases you use all i have is grandmas mollases
What´s the difference between cornmeal and corn flour? Google translate gimme the same result. Is one of them Corn starch?
Can you use Regular flour
+shi no Probably would do better with corn flour or even soy flour
that is flour just Mexican
