I have used a similar recipe that also had garlic powder included. Both are excellent. Properly deep fried carp also make good fare.

Welcome! I have only used pure vanilla extract. I feel that the small amount of alcohol in the pure vanilla is a plus.

How well does it stay on a hook?
It stays on the hook great. If you are fishing on a really hot day you may want to keep it chilled in a cooler so it doesn't get too soft.
