      The Century Vintage. I wish they brought it back! (also wish the silly me wouldn't have sold his years ago)

      @@6WireBender Back in 2021 I bought a NOS Century (the original, not the Century Vintage) from a shop clearing their warehouse, but with this constant moving places I went through I never really played it properly. Apart from being a 102 dB sensitivity beast... The feel I still have is it's so defined, the high end it was nearly hi-fi. That's what they «fixed» in the Century Vintage, right?

      Nice! I'm actually really impressed with the V type Neo. I really like the top end, and tightness. Def lacking some of the midrange fullness, and a bit of the low end thump of the Cream, but compared to the regular V type it definitely sounds different, and seems to have a more open/clear top end.

      @@riangarianga I think it was a very complete speaker that covered a lot of ground. When I sold it I switched to regular V30 which I love as well but I absolutely should have kept the Century Vintage too, sob.

    I've been waiting for this test for such a long time, and then I missed the notification, haha. I'll give it another listen tomorrow with fresher ears, but so far I'm liking how both of them sound in this test, perhaps the ultimate trial would be listening to them in a mix.

    I love the Neo V; the original V-Type is my favorite speaker, and to my ear the Neo is about as identical to the original as can be.

      We're going to be putting out more videos on the Vtype. It's never been my favourite but there are so many people that love it I want to do more stuff on it..... mostly for myself ;) Thanks for watching.

      @@ZillaCabs can totally see that! I always thought of the V-Type as a V30 with the mid-spike shaved off, which is why lots of people love the V30 right?
      (I also mostly use open back 1x12” combos, seem to play nicest with the more neutral speakers)

  • @shotgunrebels
    @shotgunrebels 3 месяца назад +1

    I put one of each in my 2x12 cab to lighten it up. They seem to compliment each other.

    Both killer speakers!! I loved the older, discontinued G12 Century Vintage Neo, and to my ears, the Neo Creamback sounds more similar here, but the Neo V-Type has a killer bark to it! I think either one would be a total upgrade from old beat up stock speakers from vintage amps that are tuned up for modern players with pedalboards, the V-Type being the smoother of the 2.

    Glad to see a video with the Neo V-Type - there don't seem to be many available. Surprisingly, the two Neo speakers were closer than I thought they would be. I couldn't really hear a difference on clean and edge-of-breakup. On lead and crunch, they still sounded pretty similar but it was clear the Neo V-Type was a bit darker and the Neo Creamback was a bit brighter. I think I liked the Neo Creamback better for the crunch and lead tones, since the bit of extra brightness made it punchier without making it sound too harsh.

    My favorite lightweight speaker is the Neo Creamback, but it's honestly the only one I've tried. I replaced an M65 Creamback and put a Neo in to my Marshall combo, and I dare say I prefer the Neo a bit. I do appreciate the weight savings. Every pound is meaningful in a heavy tube combo amp.

    • @ZillaCabs

      They are both nice speakers, and yeah they can be a god send for helping save the weight down.

    To be honest both are great speakers. Friend of mine has 2x12 with the Neo cream in 16 Ohm. They sound good. Maybe a bit less top end and some more give would be even better option. I love the Neo V type even more. I think the whole Cream series are sounding good. For Celestion type sound I prefer Neo V type over all other Neo speakers.
    I love Neo 250 Copperback but it is not the same field at all. It’s different beast.

    V Type. Great loudspeaker at decent price. Tried Greenback in my Tone King Gremlin. It destroyed the Blackface tone totally. Back to V type. Sounded sooo much better 🤩🤩
    V Type is a really balanced loudspeaker.

    Almost identical through some Adam Audio T7V's, except the creamback has a tad more mids & perhaps a shade more treble.... but the difference are tiny.

    I’m hearing a little more low end from the V and a little more mid range from the cream. Still very difficult to tell the difference with my eyes closed.

      It depends how people record them, mics, which amps they use, how they dial settings in. Speakers are just one part of the chain.

    Neo V-Type has more squawk with heavy gain. Not good or bad, just different.

  • @CraigFlowersMusic
    @CraigFlowersMusic 4 месяца назад +5

    The creamback wins, for me, because of the nice midrange crunch where the V is scooped. But that's just when compared to another neo; I think it's the least appealing of the Creamback lineup. Here though, I hear a nasal quality being unmasked by the scoopiness of the V, so it's not so much the cream wins, more like the V loses.

    It would be nice to have a direct A-B comparison with a looped part instead of the shredded. This wasn’t helpful at all.

    • @ZillaCabs
      @ZillaCabs  3 дня назад

      I honestly don't care if you don't find this video helpful. There's multiple styles A/B, multiple gain levels, chords and lead lines.... in three minutes. It's cost you nothing, you'll be hard pushed to find a better quality video on the subject and I actually doubt anyone else has bothered do this comparison on RUclips. After that, all you can do is be negative then you're not the target audience and this video clearly wasn't aimed at you.

      @ZillaCabs  3 дня назад

      @@10CentHead So you want us to feel bad about your negative comment? No, it's more of a signal to other people. There are quite a few people on here who find the negative comments funny because they understand how useful the videos are. It's just a thing about youtube, we had two people hit thumbs down for a video giving a cab away to someone. Some people want to make other people feel bad, and really that's kind of funny if you think about it. Sad for them, but for us kind of funny. You've obviously going through some issues and I hope they work out, but we're adults, not children, we're not going to learn anything from each other so let's walk away from this. Good luck with your videos.
