I love how well she is able to lead the orchestra accompanying her through the Vivaldi. I think that is one of the biggest differences that allowed her to stand out and finish first among all the other amazingly talented musicians in this competition. Congratulations!
+Christopher Oram Congratulations to ALL the wonderful young musicians who entered this competition, the cream of the worlds best young violinists. A credit to themselves and their families.
+Christopher Oram Yes agree, good summing up. Let us hope that Yesong Sophie Lee continues to progress to a fully fledged virtuoso violinist in the future. She is only young and many things can change as young people grow up to become adults.
Maturity beyond her age, way beyond. One of the best Summers regardless of who plays it. Really stirs up a big summer tempesta in the third movement. The orchestra too, mature beyond their ages.
Gran interpretación y muy interesante en la obra de O.Colomina la interacción con el publico; se requiere de mucha madurez técnico - musical para tocar este tipo de música, es impresionante.
+no1knowledge Agree that Sophie was well worth her win and what is MORE important is that the highly qualified judges thought so too. All the contestants who were chosen for this competition were amazing young Violinist's who are a credit to themselves and to their supportive families.
_-Eggnog-_ _-Swaggamuffins-_ He is a wonderful young violinist no doubt ( as were many others ) but although he is a friend just accept the judges verdict.
@ht gar '' Bosch's Shpigl'' Absolute rubbish and I would guess rarely or never played since and as one person commented on the here '' is utterly just disgusting to the ear''
Classical music must have something about it, stood the test of time and many young musicians still learning in Musical colleges to play this sort of music. What I cannot understand is that when modern composers try to recreate music of this style and period, in most cases quite poor results !! Here below is a typical underwhelming ( IMHO ) new composition, where the composer ( also an organizer of the 2016 Menuhin Competition ) got his own composition used as one of the two pieces of music on which the final placing's in the final of the junior Violin section would be judged, eg ''Shpigl by Òscar Colomina I Bosch, which includes improvisation.'' Feel sorry for these kids having to play this particular music in a final. 'Shpigl'' runs for the first 8 minutes !! After that sanity prevails and Yesong Sophie Lee of USA ( the winner of the competition ) plays Vivaldi's ''Summer'' from his masterpiece ''The Four Seasons'' The composer of 'Shpigl'' eg Òscar Colomina Bosch, has many qualifications and appointments to Orchestras and colleges all over the world, for me though his composition here leaves a LOT to be desired.
Quite awful and I placed comments on here at around the time of this competition to say so !! This yeares competition, an EQUALLY awful modern piece in the first part of the final !!
I don't think so. Musicians know how well they can play and know if they are soloist or orchestra players. I would give my right hand to play in the orchestra, oops!
The proper music starts at 9.20 with A. Vivaldi Le Quattro Stagioni, Summer. Before that is the awful and forgettable composition by Oscar Colonina I Bosch called by the strange name of ''ShpigI ........mirror in Yiddish. The composer is professor of orchestration at the Royal Academy of Music and teacher at The Yehudi Menuhin School, so he used the opportunity of this competition to highlight his own ''Talents'' in the final ?
김민수 being attractive doesn’t mean shit in a violin competition. And unbalanced and underdeveloped? She still has so many more years for development, she’s 12 for fuck sake give her a break
I like the chubby cello guy who indulges in his own world.
Junchuan Wang lol
Next Apocalyptica member! )
I like that the orchestra behind her is full of young, talented people as well.
Her tone is 10/10

That one cellist is really feeling the music. :)
I really like Sophie's solid sound and the way she expresses the music so well.
Cello guy is really passionate i like it
Superb child! And wonderful to hear an orchestra made just of young, talented musicians.
Vivaldi begins at 9:18
Thank you. I dislike that "performance art". Just give me Beethoven and I'll be fine.
''Vivaldi begins at 9:18'' Thank god for that !!
IM SUPPOSED TO BE PRACTISING AND WAS MEANT TO START LIKE AN HOUR AGO BUT INSTEAD IM HERE DESTORYING MY SELF ESTEEM.

OMG 12. A-maz-ing. Spell binding performance of Bosch's Shpigl. Really good communication with the other musicians (Vivaldi piece)
@ht gar '' Bosch's Shpigl'' Absolute rubbish and I would guess rarely or never played since and as one person commented on the here '' is utterly just disgusting to the ear''
18:52 : A small but supreme showing of chamber musicianship.
yes. great to see someone who understands and notices things like that.
are you a fellow fan as well?

congratulations Yesong Sophie Lee! 🎻🎼♡amazing all rounds!
Self esteem is at a record breaking low.
a piece of trash Wahahahahaha
a great presence on stage!!!! what a solist!!!
Her music is like so broad and nice
My sympathy to the other competitors. How do you compete with this? She would probably have won the senior division.
timothybolshaw ahaha Hahahaha that’s exactly what I met her at a signing event she did!!!!!!
ecactly

She is amazing! Beautiful sound.
17:26 3rd movement
nigielee Incredible....
Third is the best in my opinion
I also liked Na Kyung Kang a lot.
Na Kyung plays really well. She was the recent winner of the (Youth) Tchaikovsky Competition in Astana.
@@mengshuz8994 sure but yesong sophie lee is wayyyy better now. she;s performing with alllll the major orchestras.

I'm wondering how they get such a great sound on the recording- any one know where the mic is? I'm wondering if she has a mic clipped to the violin?
nopeee its just a really giood mic
I’d assume it’s a mic hanging above them, so the camera wouldn’t catch it.
@15:09 The 2nd movement's just so divine T^T
Born a Star,
yes.. she really is
So spooky if someone plays that behind you.
Neuvěřitelný výkon v tak útlém věku.
souhlasit
how is nobody commenting on that beginning? very odd
That was performance art or she was just tuning her violin I can't tell.
Quite awful and I placed comments on here at around the time of this competition to say so !! This yeares competition, an EQUALLY awful modern piece in the first part of the final !!

alan2021233 hahahahahahaha xD

I don't think some of you guys understand the Shpigl composition's meaning.

Oh, that's some hard words. But I found it quite amusing and engaging.
that composer was on crack I’m conviced
18:19 she had a slip in intonation.. I guess not enough ling ling and 39 hours of practice. @2setviolin
i hope you're fucking joking.
I'm falling asleep
yeah but her commissioned work. OMG
Incredible skill level
Surely she could have found something more complicated .. the first piece is child's play
1st piece is mandatory for all finalists and not optional.
are you stupid
its required to play she didn't choose it you idiot
special talent and outstanding skill but unbalanced developed and not.much attractive. not suit for that age. unnatural.
