I just moved in to Japan this past week to study for 6 months and brought my in-line skates in hopes of finding somewhere to use them. I'll definitely be joining you guys some day. RUclips recommendation really helped with this one.
Somewhere in Asia, there is a city that cannot be found on any map called Tokyo-to, but everyone just calls it Tokyo. The two hottest things on the streets of Tokyo-to are the punks wearing magnetically-driven in-line skates powered by newly developed netrium batteries, and Jet Set Radio, a pirate radio station manned by the DJ Professor K, that plays nothing but non-stop, hardcore music. Those street punks have been named 'Rudies' by the people of Tokyo-to. They roam the streets and cover the city with their own, personal graffiti, claiming that it is their way of expressing themselves to the world. However, ever since the Metropolitan Government and the financial conglomerate, the Rokkaku Group, combined their efforts to form the 21st Century Project, the streets of Tokyo-to have never been the same again. Police crackdowns on the Rudies have become more severe, and Captain Onishima is more anxious than ever to put them behind bars. The streets of Tokyo-to are ready to explode...
Wow, it's truly surprising for me to find this chanel. I was considering to move in to Tokyo one day, but I worried that I might not be able to experience urban skating anymore as Tokyo is famous for crowded city and its strict regulation. But seeing this, I have a hope that I still can experience urban skating there if I finally move in to Tokyo. Hope Tokyo City Run will always continue to maintain their activity! All the best for the community!
thanks for watching and yes, you'll definitely be able to skate in Tokyo although there may be some restrictions, it's going to be great! hope you like it :)
I want to do this so bad. Been urban skating in Denmark for the past 5 years or so, after visiting Japan this year I think it's would be an amazing place to skate around
Crazy to see this. I redownloaded Facebook about a year ago looking for people to skate with in my city and I found a group of people who were around twice my age. All this time later I still skate with them every week and have done so much with these people and I SWEAR a group like mine was the only of its kind but across the world someone is living the same life as me. I’m just amazed. Sending good vibes 😅
I left a comment on another video literally like 10 minutes ago but after watching a few more I can’t stress enough if you ever come to the US you have a group of friendly experienced skaters, and then me 😅, to skate with. Also I love your video formats! I actually JUST got a insta 360 and I have filmed a few short clips but waiting for my next group skate to throw something on the internet.
Hey, I found this video and I’m so glad about it. I’ve been in Japan for one and half year and am so dying to do skating. Thanks for sharing the skate set up for details. Hope I can join you guys.
I live in Antalya and it's one of the best cities to skate. Around 40-45 km of runway for only running/cycling and skating. Also it's next to the sea all the time. But Tokyo looks so good for skating too. The urban feeling really makes me want to go there. The transition of the vibes is so good. One place you are next to small houses with trees and lands next to it, and you are at the Tokyo Tower. My only concern was Tokyo would be crowded but suprisingly it's not that crowded during day time. (as i see in the video). The runway here is separated to walkers and sports so people are not a big issue. Altough skating at the runway for a long time really bores me out. I want to see tall buildings and interesting structures! Big runways! Tokyo looks so cool! Also the skates you guys are using are very cool. I use an old Seba FR2. It's around 6 years old and i recently changed the frame. I use street invaders for my tires. I want to graduate and go to Japan for work. Btw are there skating groups? Where people gather up and skate? I just found your channel and it's very underrated. I wish you good days :)))
Thank you for a lovely comment! I would love to visit Antalya, the scenery looks amazing! It is not as busy at this time of the day because it's Sunday morning and also we choose less crowded places. There are many skating groups. The one that I got to most often is Tokyo City Run. There are also groups that host one time skate sessions as well. I think the easiest place to find would be Facebooks pages. Thank you for the support, really appreciate it :)

Hi! I was actually planning a trip to japan next year and was reading the rules for rollerblading. Isn’t it banned on the streets, I might be mistaken please correct me!
I just move to jp and as a hockey player I think inline rollerblading might be the best type of transportation to get around here. (I have never rollerblade b4) also there is 4 and 3 wheels, what should I get? Any recommendations for rollerblade as well?
oh cool! yes using rollerblading as transportation is fun but just be careful not to get caught ahaha. I'd recommend 3 wheels and the big ones too, like the 125 mms coz you can go faster. But if you haven't tried it before, going for the 4 wheel might be better. You should ask other people too!
Hai Ren, I'm glad I found your video, I new to skates but after I tried couple of setup I found 4 by 90 is great for maneuver on a busy city skates, but I was wondering why Tokyo seems very empty in your video. its like a perfect place for skater. will definitely watch more of your vids.
Thank you so much! 90x4s sounds super fun, I want them as well haha. I guess it's not as busy because it's still early in the morning on a Sunday. Will def upload more!
OK, you are the first person I’ve seen that also has an Orange shell skate that faded . My seba FR orange skates turned an uneven dull yellow, I complained to the manufacturer & they sent me a new pair that’s doing the same thing. I wanted to dye them, but when I experimented with Rit Dyemore synthetic dye, it didn’t penetrate the plastic at all & I was worried about melting them, so I am stuck with 2 yellow, splotchy looking skates, but the cuff is still orange… go figure… 😕
Ohh I see, I didn't even think of dyeing the skates, thats a cool idea. I'm anyways going to throw away the boots since it's getting old.. I'll keep the wheels and the frames tho.
Can I join you on my roller skates first week in march? I’m on quads but skating 21 years and decent big outdoor wheels, so hoping I can keep up with you! Also I wonder if there are any good places for me to explore on roller skates? Will the parks / cycle routes allow roller skating? Can I go to ramps/skateparks on quads?
I don't live in Japan but the Facebook page should have the updated information! I also have another video called 'Can you skate in Tokyo?' which might help in terms of places to skate. The police might stop you if you are skating the streets so keep that in mind. Skateboard only skateparks don't allow inline skates so probably no quads as well. But Murasaki Parks which are on the outskirts of Tokyo allows inlines and there are quad skaters as well. Hope that helps :)
That's so nice ! I was arrested by police , at 10 pm on my longboard in small city in Kanagawa. I thought inline skates or skateboard are completely forbidden in Japan (outside of skatepark) ... Apparently not
