Is there a easy way to apply some sound dampening sheets to the back part of the roof without taking the whole headliner out? I have a sunroof so it would be easier to at least get the back of the roof. Sounds like a tin roof when you get a pounding rain.
Are you going to do a video about all the sound deadening material you installed? I want to strategically place material to make the cabin nicer. Thanks!
I was not thinking about making a video. Maybe I can in the future. I don't think there is a strategy to installing these. Just cover up to 80% of any surface you are working on. You can see my subwoofer install video and door speaker install video to have a look at the sound deadening material in those areas.
@@Rav4Gen5 How much added weight do you think you have added to the RAV4 with all the sound deadening panels? Did you use a audio meter to determine the loudest areas? Thanks!
@@zennoodle I probably added 25 lbs. (1 and a half boxes). Totally worth it. I never did a sound meter test but I have driven an LE without deadening and it's horrible.
@@Rav4Gen5 25 pounds is definitely not bad for piece of mind. Just have to find time and take apart the car and pull the carpet, etc etc haha. Thanks for the inspiration though!
How much does the deadener on the roof help? I have done all 5 doors, and the trunk. I am debating dropping the headliner just to put deadener up there.
@@thetechlibrarian It helps with road noise. Hard to say by how much. However, when you supress road noise, you are hearing more the wind noise. There is always noise.
Appreciate your videos! How much of an improvement have you noticed in road/wind noise by installing the sound deadening? Say, if stock is a 10/10 noise rating then what would your current setup be rated?
Not a lot but only because the roof rack (Prinsu) threw away all the effort of wind noise reduction. My future plan now is to make a removable Prinsu Roof Rack. Don't drop the headliner just to install sound deadening. Too much work for that little gain.
Amazing videos brother! Hands down, the Best channel on YT for Rav4 owners. Thank you for all you do. Looking forward to more
Appreciate it!!
I'm a little late but I'm going through my Rav4 with Soundskins and that 4 pin connector is for the JBL Subwoofer.
This ^ was about to write a comment saying the same thing.
That killmat job is fantastic
Amazing content! Even if I'm not capable of doing these thing it is still fun and interesting to learn what makes our 5th gen rav4 works
Thanks for the feedback. Definitely interesting stuff.

I will say I think the range of the remote is impacted. Feel like it does not reach from far. It gets annoying.
Man where would one go to have this done

I would not do it unless you have some other business up there. Too much of a pain.

Hi mate, great video! I watched some videos about the RAV4 roof rack leaking, did you found any issue of it?
My vehicle never had leak issues but I know several Rav4 owners have. I believe I know why and I'll be posting a video about it.
The lack of sound deadning is shocking ..
I had to insulate my Camry 2020 because of the shitty
Steel gauge

My trd leaks water from the right top side, I think it’s from the rack rail cause it drips right from the passenger roof handle
Yes it is. I'll cover that issue in a video but right now, you go to a dealer to fix it.
