I have to say, I watched the playthrough of that game, had freaking wendigo dreams for two weeks, only game that had that effect on me, and I love the horror stuff
I read up on the story of the Doner party. Definitely got Windigo vibes from that story, so starvation psychosis being the origin of the myth is highly credible.
No the wendigo is indeed capable of mimicking voices in the actual lore, they also say its borderline almost impossible to avoid one once spotted but thats still debatable.
For us Rock Cree here the Pelican Narrows , Saskatchewan region, the Weetikoos/ Wendigoos were originally humans but came possessed by forest demons through either being cursed by those who abused their spiritual abilities or vision quests gone wrong. They were emaciated, tattered lips and fingers, piercing eyes and emitted high pitched screams with an insatiable craving for human flesh. They became extinct in our area in the early 1900's( reports vary ) for the collective belief in them ended when Christianity became the main consciousness ( if that's the right way to put it). The late powerful shaman Othapachikew ( Half German and Cree) took down alot of them during his time.
Imitating human voice. So like when I heard my mother call my name 10 miles deep in the woods. No one else was with me except for my son. I took him wheeling in my truck. We were stopped on a ledge eating lunch. Then I heard what sounded like my mother…speaking to me in Russian. Calling my name. Weirdest thing I have ever experienced. Freaked me out. I packed up and left the woods.
If I recall from graduate research 20 plus years, Wendigo psychosis tended to correspond with winter months, suggesting dietary and vitamin deficiency which in turn exhibited traits similar to the myth. So, the question became, which came first, the psychosis or the myth?
It's not a myth, Wiindigoag is the belief that greed and lust can corrupt your spirit and the association of cannibalism was only a recient addition to the belief as it was most likely a common occurrence during the last two mini ice ages, and was a common thing for colonizers to do during the winter as well.

Wendigo : Canada night winter forest psychosis men greedy werewolf deformed body human teeth claw cannibal eat human flesh
Wendigo : 🇨🇦 Canada night winter forest psychosis greedy shapeshifting human skull deer body thin claw cannibal eat human flesh
Imitating a human’s voice, I thought that was an original trait for the show Supernatural and not in actual legends.

I wonder if there are diffrent wendigos, like wrath, pride, lust, envy, greed, sloth

The tales you tell and creatures you describe would all make for amazing movies. Why is the modern film industry not taking this as inspiration?!
Try the horror movie "Antlers"
The ritual
I love how short yet informative the vodeo was, good job 👍

Can you please start doing videos about Ancient Rome? You explain very well and it would help me a lot. Thank you!

Various artists have diferent versions of the creature
Yeah most of them however usually have the head of a Deer skull and a skinny decaying body smelling of rotten flesh. T
How about night guest and the big one?
