Alec Ashby His explanation was too complicated for some I guess. He said he knew cleavland wasn't his long term destination. It came out of no where for him to leave because otherwise if he showed signs, it would be a distraction for the team and wouldn't allow him to give his all to his team during that run. He mentions he is 25 which is a crucial aspect to consider as he has grown as much as possible being number 2. Being number 1 would allow him to reach his full potiental. Magic man no, kyrie quite obviously avoids the question that he was asked. when asked what his reasoning was to leave the cavaliers, instead of giving the reason, he went on about how he was “patient in his approach” which is utter bullshit in my opinion.
No he wasn’t. He was glad LBJ was coming back because he was going help him get to the next level as a player, potentially win a championship, and get that big pay day one day. Kyrie did all of the above and more. They both used each other as an advantage.
Ya, because he didn't just experience 3 straight Finals & Championship. Because he is really the player that lead and carried for stretches. Your playing with a once a lifetime player, and your a great player in your own right, but not on his level. Sorry, but there was a guy named Dwayne Wade, in Mia, & was there well before LeBron came, most importantly he was already a Champion. He also had the resume of a proven Superstar, and well respected as the leader by everyone. Yet when he arrived, one of the first things Wade said publicly "This is your team, I'll do whatever I'm needed to do as long as were winning im happy". He welcomed LeBron to carry some of the weight from his shoulders because he knew what it takes to WIN and instead of being offended by him, he embraced him. Kyrie, at the end of the day, you have to be the man on a team, leader of it, and lead your team to places they could NEVER GET to without you.... Than complain, hate ECT, but until than play your role and you will be better in the end.
@@jayruss6698 kyrie is too immature for that . His ego would never allow him to play 2nd fiddle yet that's what he ends up doing with a guy who was drafted a year after he went to boston

Eryk Buczek he won't get swept. He didn't go to a weak team and on top of that, he was helping with the sweeps; so I don't see him getting the broom at all
Rome NZ youre probably right, although i think the cavs got better while the celtics may prove to be somewhat worse (possible chemistry problems between kyrie/hayward and lack of bench)
If you think he ducked the questions, it's probably because you weren't really listening to what he's saying. Y'all want to hear him talk about some locker room incident between him and LeBron that drove him out of Cleveland rather than hear him talking about seeking growth as a man and as a player. Kyrie isn't gonna peddle some soap opera bullshit that sounds good as the headline for some click bait, he's gonna tell you straight up, and intelligently, why he left. Y'all just gotta keep up
Can we jus acknowledge how ready Stephen A is? My man's readjusted his posture in the chair, hydrated his mouth, and gave that ole deacon look in tha church when a bad ting come by fresh from fuckin it up in the club tha night b4. 😂🤣😂
How does anyone not get this. Kyrie did not want to be overshadowed by lebron till he retired, but his team won a championship at that time he was having these thoughts. So he didn't want to leave cos his team might win again and him leaving could make a huge impact. So after that the cavs lost the championship, so kyrie is make the move so he can establish his own career and make a bigger name for himself. Timing is the key
Thank you Mega!! Man its crazy how people don't see that's all it is. If there's any beef, it was maybe after the trade. Like you said, Kyrie don't want to be second, but they went to the finals so he sucked it up. Then the next year they won it all so again, he doesn't want to rock the boat. Now they lost again, so he figures now I should make the move. Maybe there's a little tiff about it now but really Kyrie never wanted to be number 2 from the beginning. That's all it is. Kyrie thinks now is the time. I don't like the fact that he wanted a trade because I hate how these guys were going nowhere before Lebron and then when Lebron takes them to the finals and now everyone's value is higher, these guys forget what Lebron has done for them. I hate that. But at the same time, If Kyrie wants to be the man somewhere else, then so be it. Anyway, its clear that the real problem was Kyrie never liked being number 2 and is now using his chance to make the move. And that's all it is.
Agreed. Not only did they lose, but got nearly swept by the Warriors. KD was way better than Lebron in that finals. He knew Boston was going to be the best team in the East at some point given their talent and youth.
So basically, he left because he cares more about his image and legacy and not winning championships. He's the anti KD. KD left for the exact opposite reasons. He wanted championships and didn't care about being "the man" on the team. Kyrie can go F himself.
He shouldve said "I just wanted to take my talents to South..." cough a little then said "I just wanted to take my talents to a new team and see how much I've developed as a man, I've learned so much from LeBron" 😁
Hes just basically saying that being in Cleveland and playing with Lebron James will stall your development as a player especially if youre a young player like he is. You will end up playing for one man's (Lebron) wishes. Kyrie has matured and he met his ceiling playing at Cleveland, now he wants to develop some more and be better but he will only achieve that if he go out of Cleveland and thats what he did. Smart move and being in Boston was a great result for Kyrie. Being in a team with very competitive system and a great coach and no diva to control the coach and everything in the team. I'm happy for Kyrie. Hope the Boston Celtics make it to the Finals this season.
Pistol Pete Thats a pretty good explanation of the whole dilemma. Kyrie just basically feels like he can grow more as a player and as a man somewhere other than Cleveland because he reached that ceiling there. He is willing to take on the challenge of being a leader of a different squad and seeing where he can go with it.
If he explained it this way then I'd acknowledge his reasoning and move on. But he doesn't even though he's articulate enough to do so, which makes me think it's just not what he actually feels.
The People's NBA Mix True that! But by him saying he can do that in Boston vs. Clevland shows us that he's saying there is a team concept vs. an ISO concept. I think he wants to average double digit assists next season. We will see. But I agree he could've gotten raw but he didn't want to dis Lebron and Ty Lue....
2nd Lebron doesn't want to be number 2 just like kyrie and help a irrelevant so far basketball player and get trash talk loose money and might not win any more rings from LA'S trash team
A lot of people keep comparing Kyrie and LeBron's split to Shaq and Kobe's split. Shaq and Kobe were both two superstars who could lead teams on their own. LeBron , obviously, can do that. We're not sure Kyrie can yet. Personally, I don't think so.
Lol, no. He wants to be the head of his own show, and after LeBron made Cleveland his show again, he had to leave. LeBron's spotlight and leadership was too strong for him to ever overtake.
He wasn't relaxed or completely open at all. He was saying what he think he should say. He was being careful not to step on any shoes or ruffle any feathers!
Jay Anderson He answered clearly....he is his own man....period.....raised by his Father...the Fatherless and women are the only ones who don't understand what he is saying
I don't give a fuck no more. I'm a Lebron fan and I'm not mad at Kyrie for leaving it's not that serious. He just wants to be on his own team. At the end of day it's just basketball and it's business. Kyrie did his job most of the times.💯✊🏾
Jiggy Bah That's it!!! I don't get why folks out here calling these dudes snakes and getting angry and burning jerseys and shit. All of these dudes will be limping when they're retired, they're opening themselves up to arthritis and a later life filled with pain. Until then though, make as much money as you can and achieve as much as you think you can. He ALREADY has title. That's out of the way. He's young as fuck and can build a legacy on a team. Cleveland will always be known as Lebron' team. He can make Boston his.
And now Kyrie is sitting at home while LeBron is in the Finals yet again with the help of regular players. The question that wasn't asked was why you would leave the best player since Micheal Jordan?
And now he's never gonna sniff another Finals appearance, yet alone another championship. Hope he enjoys putting up nice numbers while losing to the very team he left every year.
TheAnswer3 you must not understand the celtics, they're made playoffs every year, they're team is stacked and now they have an unguardable player, they're going to do good
TheAnswer3 You really think the Cavs got better? Literally they just got a shorter Kyrie who is injured and cant defend for shit, a good defender (Jae Crowder), some bum ass nigga (Zizic) and thats practically it. And they got better with DRose somewhat because hes the only good bench player
Summed up Interpretation of these 3mins: I was tired of everything being centered around LeBron. I'm ready to play somewhere where "I" too have a voice and am not just seen as a "replaceable cog" as long as that team still has the "king"... Make your own "man" decisions kyrie. Cuz at the end of the day all of your critics do the same thing when it comes to their careers- I don't care if they're athletes, journalists, or a lawyer or a mechanic. Everybody looks out for themselves in the end. A life lived based on what others think about you is a wasted and miserable life, period.
Certified Finest maybe if lebron treated him better. he wouldn't wanna leave....lebron tried to son kyrie....kyrie has a dad...just because lebron ain't have a dad dont mean he should be a dad to everyone else....he ain't no real "king"
Certified Finest @certified finest. That's a perfect view in a world made of marshmallows and cotton candy where everybody holds hands and sings old Motown hits all day. But keep living and 1 day you're gonna simply "feel" that you have more value than the way you're treated by your friends, employer, man, etc. may suggest- and you're going to make a decision based on how much YOU value YOURself, and move on. When that happens THEN come back and rap to me about kyries "selfishness".
I watched this when it first aired and watching it again now I can’t understand why he wanted to do an interview if he didn’t wanna answer the questions directly
You gotta respect this guy and the decision he made for himself. He wanted out of Cleveland early on but did not let that get in the way of him giving his 100% while playing. We all saw what he did in the playoffs, especially the Finals, so big props for Kyrie for being a true professional about all this. And I'm not an Irving fan for that matter. (Just in case some idiot comes in here and thinks that I am....) Just giving where credit is due....
He choked 'cause aside from Lebron, nobody else actually competed against a well oiled machine like the Warriors, so they lose the finals? You actually forgot about him scoring 40 in game 4 to prevent a sweep. You're just hating on him now 'cause you're probably a Cavs fan and history tells us that you guys don't handle rejection and disappointments very well. Despite what you think, watch the finals again and tell me who among the Cavs other than Kyrie and Lebron who busted their asses to try and win it all. If you can't appreciate that kind of effort from your players, then it's no surprise they want to leave for somewhere else...
and just to add. Kyrie average 29.4 points in the finals. Only Lebron and KD scored more. so again, if that was a choke job for you, at least you can't fault the guy for playing hard despite the fact that he already wanted to leave. again, can't blame a player for leaving a fanbase that has no appreciation for the work put in day in, day out....
Matthew del Rosario I do appreciate the workload he carried. Without a doubt. I don't take anything away from him or his work, but how many points did he put up in game 2 and 5? That's a choke. You wanna talk about how you want to be the focal point of a team but you can't perform when it's needed the most
you sound like you're putting all the blame on Kyrie for that Finals defeat and said you appreciate the "workload" he carried but still call him a choke job. sounds contradicting to me. he wanted to leave for a while now, so he did the next chance he got. no matter what his reasons for leaving, just appreciate the fact that he still busted his ass off and gave his best effort in playing when other players might have just coasted along their way to free agency. he's gone, so just move on from there. anyways, he's decision just made the eastern conference more interesting next season.
or how much of a bullshitter he can be. He could have just directly said it all in a fraction of the words. And then he wouldn't have had embarrassing moments like "I felt it was best for my intentions to leave". Does that even make sense? lol
You guys say he's dodgy of the questions but yo, he said straight "yes" when Stephen A. asked him if the theme of him leaving was stirring for some time to that moment. He said it all: he didn't wanna distract the team from anything by announcing it, he wanted just to do his job and leave when the time is just right. And im so respectful of this approach...
Taurean Simmons - This nigga waited until after the draft, and after ALL of the good free agents were gone to demand a trade with 2 years left on his contract. KD left as a free agent and didn't do any complaining about leaving when he was in OKC.
Taurean Simmons thats a damn shame.. kyrie asked for a trade and KD had the opportunity to go anywhere he desire.. but KD still gets called a snake.. Lol I guess LeBron fan
Say what? He insists the earth is flat. Don't confuse vocabulary with intelligence ... lots of people can spout off a string of fancy words, but people listening are always asking, "what did he say?", "what was his point?", "did anybody understand him?".Intelligent people don't need to try to put on a show of words to try to impress you ... they speak clearly and concisely so that you can understand their point.
E Clarke I disagree. A large vocabulary and the ability to use it properly is a sign of high intelligence. Clearly he reads a lot and you can tell by the way he expresses himself. Very few NBA players are as articulate and erudite as Kyrie.

Gotta be difficult to to have a teammate who is essentially president general manager and head coach of the team you have to play on.
David Jaques ikr hahaha
I’m fucking dying!😂😂 lmao

Mega Keldeo EX more people need to see this explanation lol your a smart dude for dissecting that and making it clear
No when bron was in mia the cavs told ky that it was his team. Bron comes back and they back peddle. Every man wants his own.
So basically, he left because he cares more about his image and legacy and not winning championships. He's the anti KD. KD left for the exact opposite reasons. He wanted championships and didn't care about being "the man" on the team. Kyrie can go F himself.
Just gotta respect the man's decision. Cavs fan and still love Kyrie 💯🔥

@@ayazceyhan1968 : Your funny
Pistol Pete too bad, they won't.
we'll see...
AND NOW...the Boston Celtics will trade him knowing they don't need him...hmmmmmm
If he explained it this way then I'd acknowledge his reasoning and move on. But he doesn't even though he's articulate enough to do so, which makes me think it's just not what he actually feels.

A lot of people keep comparing Kyrie and LeBron's split to Shaq and Kobe's split. Shaq and Kobe were both two superstars who could lead teams on their own. LeBron , obviously, can do that. We're not sure Kyrie can yet. Personally, I don't think so.

Summed up Interpretation of these 3mins:
I was tired of everything being centered around LeBron.
A life lived based on what others think about you is a wasted and miserable life, period.
theshipissinking no and this selfishness is exactly why groups always break apart
Certified Finest maybe if lebron treated him better. he wouldn't wanna leave....lebron tried to son kyrie....kyrie has a dad...just because lebron ain't have a dad dont mean he should be a dad to everyone else....he ain't no real "king"
lol he just wants to be like kobe, he wants someone to push him harder to be remembered as one of the greats
Exactly... just stupid
(Just in case some idiot comes in here and thinks that I am....)
Just giving where credit is due....
Matthew del Rosario he choked in the finals this year. Fuck you talking about??
He didn’t say why he left. He just said he was patient.
And professional
@@Vandalio_Saez and an ego maniac
Kyrie responded to those questions eloquently and in a professional manner, goes to show how well-educated he is.
or how much of a bullshitter he can be.
And im so respectful of this approach...
at least he didn't do what Kevin Durant did and left to the team that beat him lol his move wasn't as shady
Taurean Simmons Yeah he went to a team he dismantled and got his playoff career high against (with the assistance of LeBron and co. Etc).
Taurean Simmons - This nigga waited until after the draft, and after ALL of the good free agents were gone to demand a trade with 2 years left on his contract. KD left as a free agent and didn't do any complaining about leaving when he was in OKC.

Taurean Simmons He did the opposite of kd. And he didn't choose to go to boston

Damn Kyrie is intelligent
Yea but look at him now
if you were being honest i would start reading some books friend
