My wife dropped Galaxy S6 Edge in the water less then 10 secondes. Battery charge did not work.
I tried the alcohol solution for 30 minutes. Then 2 days in a box with Rice.
It works like it was never damaged before!!!
    Thank you!!!

After you remove your phone from the alcohol, you may want to also place your telephone inside a knee high stalking or any kind of nylon stocking and tie it off before placing your phone inside the bowl of rice. That will prevent any tiny pieces of broken rice or tiny grainy parts from getting into the small parts of your phone.

As someone who has fixed hundreds, if not thousands of phones - submerging your entire phone in alcohol isn't exactly the best idea. One of the best uses for isopropyl alcohol (aside from being a great antiseptic/disinfectant) is removing adhesives; whether it's residue left behind from stickers, tape, or removing the adhesive left behind while replacing a screen assembly. So leaving your phone submerged in alcohol for an extended period and giving it time to work into all the small areas, will loosen things like the back cover, display, NFC/Qi charging coil, etc. Of course I guess if your screen starts lifting but your phone is at least working again it may be worth it. But it'd be much better to take the extra half hour, disassemble the phone and dry/clean by hand, or if possible clean it in an ultrasonic cleaner for a bit. Then leave the parts in rice to ensure any moisture is wicked out of the metal shielding and other places it's not feasible to dry by hand.

I tried this after 6 days of my phone going into the pool. I had my phone in bag of rice for the first 6 days and nothing was working. I soaked my phone in 99% alcohol (which I had to order online, no one in my area had it) for 30 mins as directed in video. I put back in the rice & silica packs for 2 more days (I also left bag of rice in car with phone inside 1 day while at work (temp outside was in high 70's). Phone finally turned on but the touch screen wouldn't work and no sound. I put back in rice/silica bag for another 24 hrs and finally everything began to work. This saved my phone!!! Thank you for sharing this video!!!

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! I meant to write a review months ago! This has worked for me twice now on the same note 5. The first time at the beach water got in my water protective case and I thought I shorted the phone out, the 2nd time last week at my pool I dropped it in. I will say be patient with the process as the 2nd time I thought it wouldn't work I soaked it 30 minutes and waited 13 hours with the rice and it didn't charge. Then I put the whole bowl of rice and phone in the sun for a few hours for 2 days straight and just one day in the house, then fifth day I took out and blow-dried 5 minutes and it charged and came on like brand new! Don't listen to the cell phone repair shop people on here that scared me at first 2, its been over 8 months since the first time I killed mine...I buy all my phones outright so to me its not worth paying the repair shop for something they cant even guarantee

Just simply use hair dryer. Open all the ports of the phone so that much more air could enter the phone. Run heat and normal air flow alternatively (make sure you do not blow too much hot air inside the phone!) will do a great job! Hope you don't need to wait days!! and i always get success through the hair dryer method ;) It took less than 30 min if not other hardware damage occurs!

It works!!! I dropped my phone into a water-filled basin, and it was still functioning initially. However, the short circuit did occurred which meant the screen of my phone turn green and black instead of my original wall paper. Then, I faster switched it off, and put it into the uncooked-rice container for 24 hours. I did used air-dryer(only air mode/little hot mode) to dry the phone twice in the middle when I took it out and dry for 20 minutes. Luckily it works!!! My phone still functioning well until today.

Thanks so much for the video! I fixed my phone!!!!. At first, it tried drying it with silica gel packs and rice to no avail. Then had to wait for 99% isopropyl alcohol to be delivered from Amazon(it is not sold in stores here in Texas). So a week after I dipped my phone in a pool, I left it in alcohol for 1 hour. Turned the phone on the next day and it works like nothing happened! Yay!

Dina Stewart was the phone working at all before you tried this? My son jumped in pool with his, stated it worked for a few mins after he got out and dried it off from being in the water for at most 2-3 mins. Then he said he tried to power off, but touchscreen would not work. Then he said it just shut off. Imma try this first before i buy another. He has a s8, but the screen was cracked along the edge. TIA!

Erica James yes, it worked - it would turn on in safe mode only, the back button looked like it was stuck and the whole screen was flickering because of that.. Touchscreen worked, but I didn't try to charge the phone. The glass on the front and the back of the phone was replaced many times, so there was zero water resistance when I submerged it into the water.
Anyway, all the issues were gone after I left it in 99% isopropyl alcohol for an hour. Just let it dry for a day or two before you charge or do anything else with it.

I think my phone was dead when it got wet. I thought I dried it and tried to turn it on. It did come on eventually, and did work but I think it may have short circuited from being powered on, and not being completely dried. I did not at all think about it being short circuited. I want to try to clean it using alcohol. Is this how I would possibly reverse the corruption from the mother board?

Does this work for the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus? My phone was alright and charging connected to the laptop. A few seconds after I took it out I realized the screen was yellow. Moreso on the top. The yellowing grew towards the bottom until the screen started getting lighter and lighter. It faded completely. After a series of turning it on and off and putting on rice, the screen returned to normal colour, then back to the yellowish fade. Then it went completely marshmallow green at the bottom. Kept it on rice again and it would not turn on. I would get notifications, so I know that the phone was on, but the screen would still not turn on. It's been a few days and I've kept it on rice for 24 hours. Still didn't work. I removed the sim card tray to allow more moisture to seep out when keeping on rice. Should I just follow this video? I'm afraid the alcohol might damage my phone.

After soaking it in isopropyl, how can I make sure there is no liquid left inside the phone before I place it in rice?
When my phone fell into a small tub of water, it was still working after i pulled it out and i finished a text (haha) but the battery charging became god awful and that's why I am considering your procedure. If my issue is the battery, should I even consider soaking it in isopropyl?

    • @TechvirusIndia
      @TechvirusIndia  7 лет назад +1

Not needed, just remove battery and dry with hair dryer and then dry it in hot sun for 30 mins. It should resolve your issue . If not put it in rice bowl for 2-3 days.

I wouldn't submerge the entire phone, especially with battery in. Get a disassembly video, take the motherboard out. check for any corrosion with a microscope or magnifying glass. Look for corrosion especially on connectors. Gently brush away corrosion with toothbrush and isopropanol. If the entire phone is submerged: the alcohol can damage the cameras, LCD and certain microphones. Ideally just the motherboard should be submerged in ultrasonic bath with isopropanol, then dried with heat gun, sun light or hair dryer. I was surprised that no alcohol went into LCD. Quite lucky I think. Why isn't there curry with the rice?

Ouch. Had to be a Note 5 used as an example! 😣
Very interesting video. I recommend doing the rice in a bowl method. Never heard of isopropyl alcohol immersion. I would think that would cause corrosion inside of the phone. From time to time, I clean my phone's screen with it, I wouldn't recommend putting more liquid inside of a digital unit. That just sounds nuts.
Good video. Phone still wasn't working after two days. Instead of calling it a loss and running out to get a replacement phone, you waited and kept up your method and it worked. Patience is the key.
Also, very interested that you had your phone encrypted upon boot up before the phone got waterlogged. Is that recommended to do?

what will happen to the phone if it is not being fixed right after it gets wet?
i have my samsung phone, I accidentally drop it on the water, I turned it off and wipe it with a cloth. After a couple of minutes, I dried it up with a hair blower and after that, i open it again and then the safe mode was enable so I restart my phone to disable the safe mode but after I disable the safe mode it turned off again and didn't open anymore. i tried to open it over and over again and then something shows on my phone it says " NO COMMAND". I tried to charge it but it only shows the grey charging icon and I can also see that there's a water inside my phone. what am I supposed to do with this kind of problem? will i just buy a new phone or repair it with a cp technician? would it be fix? would it still work? please dont ignore me. :) thanks :)
