There was water in the phone, if they had tried to show it not working they coulda fried the bored, and thats harder to fix

hi po.. sana mapansin.. nahulog po kasi yung phone ko sa batya mga 11 am.. tapos nagnonotify na lagi na overheat.. tapos minsan biglang na'oooff.. nakapaglaro pa ko ng ml kaninang mga 6 pm.. tapos chinarge ko.. tapos nagstop magcharge overheat daw.. tinanggal ko.. tapos nakapaglaro pa ko ml ng ilang minutes.. then nagnotify naman na overheat.. so inoff ko nalang muna.. pero ngayon ayaw nang ma'on.. nagtry ako kung nagchacharge pa, overheat lang yung nakikitang icon.. maaayos pa po ba itong phone ko..? huhu..

Okay I am curious, usually when these stores tell us its water damaged, its usually where its unfixable but you telling us this works. I so want to try it. Lets say I don't have that electronic metal container of yours, would it still be okay to submerge it under the IPA solution.

It cant work like that cause the vibration methode is very important to remove the corotion on the electronic mother board
Stores / Repair shops usually give a warranty on repairs. That's a very high risk on water damaged phones because there could still be some corrosion under the BGA chips which have the solder joints underneath the chip so you can't see it without desoldering everything. That's why repair shops usually do water damaged phones only for data rescue reasons, but not until a point where they promise you to get a working phone back.

My note 9 was water damage as well. Outside was completely dry after 24hrs in uncooked rice + blow dry.. But when I tried charging, it works from 0% - 10% until suddenly it shutdown completely & I was horrified to notice moisture building up inside front & back camera lens. This means there is still water inside the motherboard. I regretted plugging my charger because my impulsive actions would hv caused a short circuit. Didn't want to take anymore DIY chances so I went down to a phone service shop today. They said they will help me do chemical washing which costs me $24.00. But won't guarantee results. If the LCD screen is spoilt, I've to pay $300.00. Please pray for me. I hope everything goes well tomorrow and I could use my phone again.

How is your data not erased when you remove the motherboard?
the data is on a hard drive which is a part of the motherboard. all you are doing is cleaning it with an ultrasonic cleaner.

If your micro sd is damaged no. If it isn't plug it into a micro SD to usb adapter and back your photos up to your computer.

TWO THUMBS DOWN! First of all who in the world is gonna recall all the parts and steps. Secondly, the peaces are far tooooooo tiny not to have fear of damaging the miniature phone peaces! Lastly, this should only be used for the phone repair shop! Damit I would forget what goes back where!
I think he is a professional and have all the equipment & tools ready to get the DIY job done. If you are confident enough & have the skills, you can follow steps by steps. If you forgot where each parts go, just get someone to help you film a video of you taking out the parts. Then you playback. If you can save hundreds of dollars, not sending to a repair shop; then I believe this video is helpful. I just sent my water damage note 9 for chemical wash services for $25 but the shop said they will charge me $300 if my LCD screen is damaged. 😭Now waiting anxiously for them to contact me today. Hopefully there is no internal damage.

I dont work at a phone repair shop, but regularly fix phones, i did go to school for information technology, however we didnt do hqnds on repair for phones. I self taught it and am highy competent in repair now. Practice on you own phones and be gental, you can learn to do it.

probably yes, you have to disassemble it and clean it well with proper washer or cleaner as soon as possible or rust could build up on the components.
