This is called: “ATTEMPTING TO SHIELD ASSETS FROM THE JUDGMENT OF THE COURT.” In almost all cases it is actually illegal. Every attorney, when counseling clients SHOULD advise their client this is illegal. While we blame the client, he should have been told he cannot do this. This client probably paid upwards of 250,000 dollars to his attorneys. He should have been provided with a list of things he should not attempt. I get a little sick of clients being blamed for attorney errors. I blame his attorney as much as him. Sloppy representation can cause all kinds of problems. This was legal malpractice. Thousands of physicians retire early due to risks against their retirement from spurious malpractice suits. This also extends to physicians who would like to administer charity treatments to patients when they can fit this into their schedule, or are ready to retire. I don’t mean to be unkind, but your view of judgment exposure is simplistic. I personally might have continued to practice non-surgical treatments after I retired on a completely charity basis. But a single malpractice attorney and their client could take away my retirement in the blink of an eye. I know nowadays everyone thinks they’re especially savvy, but lying to the decision-makers is such a tremendous risk. I bet Justin has 1 million of examples of this. As a rule don’t underestimate people.
There are other walks of life aside from federal prison sentencing where a husband and wife say they are divorced or separated and live in the same house so your case is not breaking new grounds. Most reactions are not as draconian and the man and woman are told that is not going to fly. Let’s face facts there are some people who may aspire to doing right but the pull to be dishonest is stronger and they need to learn the hard way.
Punitive judgment. Punishment is meted out and weighed. Some convicted can be barely scratched. You’ll pay for taking it in stride, standing defiant, tall, without showing “proper” remorse and deceiving the court. The high-priced attorneys got him probation. He thought himself slick while scoffing at the prospect of restitution.
@@WhiteCollarAdviceOfficial if the judge ACTUALLY cared about victims then cops wouldn’t walk away freely after murdering someone and would get harsher sentences than the average person. But we both know that doesn’t happen 🙄
