Depending on the vehicle that the leaf spring they used came from, it could be 5160 steel. With that being said though, the machetes they use don’t always have to have or keep a razor edge and they need to be easily resharpened, so they are a little less worried about it as long as it *can* be hardened. Gotta make use of what you can.
+handel1111 On the crude local style ones is no hamon visible. The nicely made ones that I sell show a bit of a hamon if they have a satin finish. Like in the video " special edition survival bolo " Marius
+MSL Bushcraft & Survival what island is that mate? I go over there semi regular to study Escrima....well I go to Cebu....would be interested know where you shot that footage.
anyone know how to make a power hammer? id do what they did but I'm lacking in the man power. I'm able to one-hand a sledge hammer but it just gets me tired, so yeah any suggestions?... anything?... please help...!
Is this facility iso 9000? Osha inspectors would literally urinate themselves if they were called to a place like this in the US, flip flops, no shirt no problems.. Restrictions just keep getting worse and worse here, but that's life..
@Urban Student Prepper Yes nothing could be better than made in the west but these people here are making their best to live and are happy for what they have. About you ,are you happy with what you have? I always see you're trolling about blacksmiths in the Philippines and if ever you were born here and poor you probably do the same as these hardworking Filipinos! You are lucky you were born in a country that is well developed and probably born with silver spoon! I'm a Filipino living here in Canada and when I see people like these I appreciate the life I have here because I am more well off than them.A lot of "cry babies" are found in western countries because they are not used to hardships in life. This is one thing I admired among my fellow Filipinos no matter what life's will at throw at them they are still happy and smiling.
Damn... they were using sledge hammers at the start! Normally it's only 2 guys on the hammers but 3 at once looks even more amazing!!!
amazing workmanship and team work !!!
Watching that guy shape the handle was amazing. No wasted effort there.
+bwhip

Any chance of buying one of their machetes?
Look at the spark of the steel when they grind it, it's that the spark of tool steel or high carbon steel?
