I love Demi so much, I think she's so talented and have been listening to her for forever, and root for her. But I do feel like this narrative of 'self-empowerment' and 'i have overcome my demons' is pushed on her quite a lot, maybe by her team. Especially for her big singles - I know her album tracks tend to be more honest. I feel like her very real and complicated struggles are simplified used as marketing tools and packaged up in these 'self empowerment' jams. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but I do think it would be healthier to actually let her have a proper break/rest and come back when she's fully ready and healing, as well a care plan for when she's on tour. Really she hasn't been gone that long since her relapse, not to mention she was obviously working on new material during that time. This is all projection as I obviously don't know what goes on behind the scenes. I do feel like I like this song, the first verse feels particularly honest. Hope you are good Ash ❤️

it's so interesting and fascinating how shocked people were when the music video had the scene where demi passed by the ambulance. and now, demi completely re-enacted their OD in 2018 with their song and music video for "dancing with the devil." - i remember so many people (lovatics especially) were so shocked demi put that scene in the music video (i love me.) and now, we full on seen what happened that night. demi is truly one of the most strongest people in the music industry, they will never stop being real.
Truly this is probably my favorite song from Demi, regardless of production, the lyrical content makes up for any mistakes. And not to mention the music video was full of facts and truth! Her walking by important scenes of her life was heartwarming but also very sad!
