I agree 100%... it's incomprehensible how so called 'professionals' would do that to an ED patient... like the whole point of recovery is freeing the person from all the rules and restrictions regarding food and helping them get a balance in their lives... yet instead of doing that they just continue with the strict rules... like not being allowed to have some cake on your birthday... really? Thank you Ashley. "Your bad days do not define you," is something I needed to hear. I am struggling with sobriety, but am a full 31 days sober currently. I wear my 24 hour chip around my neck to remind myself, just go 24 hours. This album has come at the perfect time for me. I hope the universe gives you a break to breathe and relax.

Some interesting facts about several songs:
ICU : Demi was most likely in the ICU area after her overdose and when she woke up, she literally couldn't see her sister Madison. Which is also ironic being that she once was told she wouldn't be able to see Madison if she didn't get clean years ago.
Melon cake : Demi's old management was extremely toxic, they only cared about her weight and appearance, not mental health and they tried to keep her fit.For example, they didn't let have a real cake for her birthday. They gave her watermelon covered with non-fat whipped cream.
15 minutes : This one is dedicated to her ex Max and how he dated her for "15 minutes of fame".She said 'praying in Malibu' - after breakup Max called TMZ to film him crying on a beach in Malibu where he proposed to her to leak photos of him devastated 🤣😩

It's impossible not to be proud of Demi. She went through all of this trauma and close calls with death, and she came through clean on the other side. Watching the first three episodes of the documentary make this album hit that much harder. Demi poured her heart and soul into this piece of art and it shows.

I was so proud of myself for not crying while I listened to the album...and then Good Place hit and I was bawling! For the exact reason you mentioned: If things would've turned out differently on that fateful day in July of 2018...she might not even be here to let us know she's in a good place right now. And that completely shattered me. That day was the worst day ever for me...I was so scared and worried and to see her being alive, and well, and doing all these amazing things right now just fills me with so much happiness. She really means the world to me and I absolutely love this album.

i honestly don’t think you’ve appreciated enough this album. it’s definitely her best project ever
It's not that she didn't appreciate it, but it was too raw and real. Ash has been through so much shit, but she isn't in the point in life where she can talk about it and confront her pain. Demi is in a point in her life where she is finally in a good place where she feels comfortable with being vulnerable and confronting all her trauma. Ash appreciates this album, and I think she is a huge admirer, but a lot of what Demi was singing about hits too close too home for Ash rn, so I think that's why she was a little less vocal on her album. Btw, this is just my opinion I could be totally wrong, but that is what it seems like to me.
I mean, she did say that she did not have energy while reacording because someone broke into her grandparents' house, so maybe she was not fully there in that room listening.
Also, personally speaking, it took me more than one listen to enjoy the album. At first, I was like “it's okay” but the more I listened, the more I liked it, but still it's not my favorite project from her.
You NEEEED to watch her new documentary if you haven't yet, then listen to these songs after, they hit different then. It is an amazing documentary.
