Thank you for sharing and so kindly explaining this subject. I work with the recording of nature sounds and I think there are some parallels we can make. It's a very common practice that people in the Global North travel to the Global South and record in tropical forest, national parks etc.. (I have done it myself). I think there is a lot to be said here, but I always believed in context - as you said; and not to deny the right of appreciation of those people, but to look for ways to always doing it so in a respectful manner, which I consider to be to have some understanding of the local culture, having permission and benefiting primarily these places. Same can certainly be said for the furtherest regions in the north, with it's plurality of indigenous peoples. Trying to learn the much I can so I am happy to have been recommended this video.
