    Greetings, Mark.
Currently owning this model for almost 2 years in CFMOTO’s motherland, China. Though it have plenty of designing problems, like high center of gravity, horrible UI design & interact logic and lack of electronic assistance, it’s still a great bike for it’s value. It rides smoothly and powerful, that’s the core of motorcycle experience right? And it’s super comfortable for long distance travel. For those who are interested in this model I highly suggest you to wait for the Explore version which I consider is the full version of this model platform, with new dashboard, new hand switches, rear radar system and most importantly TCS. Many details optimized too. And it stays almost the same price(even cheaper in Chinese market).
BTW, I just came back from your lovely beautiful country. Traveled in the United Kingdom for a whole month (a pity not on motorcycle) and you guys really have an excellent riding environment and atmosphere. The roads, the traffic, the landscapes and the weather, all perfect for motorcycle traveling. I do hope one day I could enjoy riding a bike on Great Britain Island.
    Best wishes.

I think CF Moto and Zontes are leading the Chinese pack in terms of quality. In 5 years time they will be up there in terms of mainstream quality. Nice to hear from an owner and glad you liked the UK. Need to come back for some biking and fish followed by fish and chips on the seafront!

@@mikehorton8603 CFMOTO is doing great both domestic and overseas. Probably the best motorcycle company of China and their cooperation with KTM made a great success. Actrually, Zontes is not that popular in Chinese market, they have bikes with a lot of features at a low price, but this comes with issues of reliability(in China, overseas models have better quality😅). They don't have bigger capacity engines, and many of their models looks emmm...weird. But I'm happy they put efforts on overseas markets and you guys liked it.
Definitely going back to UK in the future. I left so many things unexperienced and places unexplored. It's a great country and I love it.

Mark, I'm a big fan of your reviews. 2 years ago I purchased a Tiger900LR. In South Carolina I paid $18,000 with taxes and extras like center stand. No panniers or topcase.
Yesterday I met a man who just purchased this CF Moto for $10,800. And it was loaded, plus panniers and top box.
I am giving this a serious look.
I traded my tiger for a Bonne and then sold it. So I'm hunting another bike.

The set button gets you into the menus. The pressing and holding the up or down arrows will cycle you through the diff menu option like Bluetooth, heated grips modes bike info etc. same happened to me when I rode it. It’s a down side to have to press so many buttons to change modes and heated grips. But you really can’t beat the price for the features. Def a fantastic lite adventure bike/sports tourer/commuter. Does everything. Great review. One of the better ones on a demo ride. Probably the best I’ve seen. You hit all

As a tiger 900 gt pro owner I tend to agree with you, Although I was never a lover of any thing made in china but when you hear 🎉that CF Moto are now part of KTM and also I believe are now involved with Yamaha they must be upping their game on Quality and reliability from years gone by and with all the bells n whistles for the price seem very competitive and with good service intervals especially 18 thousand miles for valve checks as am presently saving up to put my tiger in for the big service and valve clearances at 12 thousand miles 😢although I love my triumph it does make you think your paying a big premium for a name 🤔so if your not bothered about a name brand these bikes may be an option to save a few grand and I think once they more established they could be a rival to the bigger name brands, love em or hate em it must only be a good thing for the bike market as more choice must make for more competition prices

Those bikes reminds me of the old super ténéré, they, IMHO, try to compete with GS/RT and target people wishing for a road bike with a trailbike look. The equipment list is long as a day without bread (tire pressure sensors, steering damper, centre stand...) The engine they build for KTM is sure well known and shouldn't be a trouble for the owners. It may be just a bit too sporty for the spirit with its torque at 8000rpm. In France they come with a 5 year warranty (not sure in the UK). I just don't understand why the cruise control only operate on some gears (4th and up) and only from 40kph to 130kph... I guess they don't target germans :D

Interesting, thanks. It sounds like fundamentally a good bike, but I wonder why we have so many 'faux' adventure bikes around these days....apart from fashion, of course! All these bikes like this CFMoto and the new Transalp are almost never going to go off road, but are afflicted by several 'adventure' features like hard to clean wire wheels, knobbly-ish tyres and the obligatory tin boxes on the back. These are actually good road bikes - far more practical than sporty bikes, but why can't we have something similar, but as a pure road bike without having to pretend that you are going to go round the world on them?? btw those panniers look irritating - they make the bike wide, but don't seem wide enough to get anything very useful in them!

Mark, how does this new incarnation of the 790 engine compare to our 790 dukes, i assume you still own yours.... apparently its got a 20% heavier flywheel, also that quickshifter seems to work so much better, i wonder if we can get ours re calibrated so they work just as good, or is that also a characteristic of the new engine.....ps still love my hunter..... i enjoy your reviews

    • @markpulling12

Hi it feels very similar....but in being in the heavier bike doesn't feel quite a fast and it has more of a roar from the air box....I've had my 790 duke remapped by j33 and it's way better than before or this engine in the cfmoto now

Nice bike, just wonder how it will hold up in winter weather…any thoughts? Also, and this is either a stupid oversight of deliberate, why no traction control. It has got an IMU and cornering ABS so the hardware is there. Not a real deal breaker but come on CFmoto just activate it with a software update!

This is good value if you can get on with the looks. 435-degree firing order? A slip up, I assume. It certainly goes well. Good review, Mark. 1990 [Nick J]

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  Год назад +1

      Thanks nick
There's a 435-degree firing interval, designed to emulate the firing order of KTM's big V-twins, with a crank pin offset of 75 degrees. The engine has a DOHC, eight-valve head, with one spark plug per cylinder.

I test rode one of these. I found the quality as per Mark’s review. The one I rode didn’t have a quick shifter (or it wasn’t working) - clutch was easy to use however.
Personally I found the fuelling appalling (even in rain mode). Even at constant highway speeds the bike was lurching back and forth. As Mark says definitely worth a test ride - the one I had could have been a Friday afternoon bike.

You obviously liked it. But my problem is this, it’s made by a company in a country with a government who regularly cyber attacks the UK on a regular basis and we could easily be at war with at anytime soon (if they attack Taiwan). There is also zero copyright laws in china and many companies just clone western products (although I understand this is not the case with cfmoto). On that basis, I try not to give too much money to Chinese companies if I possibly can avoid it, although due to the west blindly handing virtually all manufacturing to China, is very difficult.

Some of political comments here are a bit absurd and silly, the amount of parts used in every motorcycle/car/household goods that are made in China is huge ,, cfmoto are a Chinese company that build Chinese "stuff" ,, bmw are a German company that use Chinese "stuff" in their vehicles, just like honda Yamaha Suzuki etc etc,, the industrial Chinese world are who they are because we (the rest of the world) buy their "stuff" ,, without china we'd have very little in our homes,, how many items are made in the uk or usa or Europe anymore???? ,, ..
