Through Heatwave you can hear why Quincy Jones/Michael Jackson wanted Rod Temperton so bad for the "Off The Wall album. Rod's an incredibly underrated arranger as well as a great composer. I fell in love with this track and the whole album as a kid and was so happy to watch Rod get the respect he deserved. The repeated motif at the end is typical of Jazz music and is wonderful when it's brought into Pop & R&B. Brilliant.

@@retroreactions....just thought I’d weigh in on this……Yes, I agree with Simon in that a concept album tells a story, and if you react to side 1, then side 2 shouldn’t be part of the normal “rotation” but should actually be done within the same week if possible …….it’s like watching half a movie and waiting months to complete it. You risk forgetting the first part before you get to the conclusion. Just my opinion, Brandon. You’re the dude in control. 😁
