A few tips Fred dont superglue the plug to the board because if you sell the radio another tech may go inside try to pull the speaker plug off and end up ripping the tracks up off the PCB.
Looking at the speaker if it has flat metal terminals you can usually get spade terminals to fit with a rubber shroud.
Oh and the antenna socket on the rig is called an SO239 just incase you need a order a replacement.
Thanks for the video Fred, always something happening in Fred's Shed
One of these days I may hear your Net on 305. Cheers buddy

The speaker wires are soldered right to the speaker. Might have to use a blob of hot glue if this problem keeps coming back. Cheers.

All good Ay Fred, glad it was an easy fix..Don't worry about what you called the PL259 plug, I have heard many a RUclipsr calling them all sorts of things so long as we understood you it's all good...PL for Plug SO for Socket and why they didn't call them both 259 is anyone's guess if it was my design I would of named it a SO259 instead of SO239 meening the Socket matched the plug.

Thanks Steve. Plugs from Rocket have arrived so will be replacing the dodgy one.

A small dab of hot glue or wax Fred. Just to stop it moving or pulling out. Have had the same problem with the pl259 plugs some seem to be longer than others. Try and get the shorter variety as they tighten up nicely. 👍

Yes i think the hot snot may work if it becomes loose again.

It's good to see progress on the 9900. Steam you say? That is certainly makes for good RUclips entertainment. I am looking forward to it.

I think I'd take the cover off and check the two solder joints for the speaker connector as well. They might have come loose some...

Hi whatever you do don't put vaseline on the plug get a new plug unscrew the outer cover of the plug completely and make sure the inner part of the plug goes right in the socket so the teeth touch the outer side of the socket if that makes sense if not you can always trim the inner parts of the plug down even on old plugs

Thanks mate. Whats with issue with vaseline ? Poor connection ? Iam thinking it could be an issue with the center pin being a little too long on the 259. Ive got a couple of new plugs so hoping one of them are better. You know you should consider putting the Gainmaster back up as we have a lot of North London stations coming in on the 4pm 305 and you would hear them. All the best mate.

@@CB-RADIO-UK hi you shouldn't put vaseline on the plug there's no need for it and with the heat from the radio we were eventually make it a sticky mess. The gain master is staying in the shed. As I said to you years ago just lost all interest in radio but I still watch your videos sometimes and leave comments and most of the time give them a thumbs up.

Check the soldering on the other side of the PCB. Don't use superglue, use hot snot if anything

Have you found when turning the channel knob on the 9900 the channel numbers sometimes don't move on to next channel they are not as positive as older CBS
Or would it be to do with programmed channel numbers

hi fred ,new to the cb world just got one of these last week from knights, good radio, silly question maybe, but when listening on 10 meters what mode are you supposed to use is it fm am usb or lsb .,cheers

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK 5 лет назад

Its a HAM question but i will try. I know CW (morse) is used at the bottom part of the range the then SSB AM and FM on the upper. I think you can use all modes further up. Just switch the mode till you can understand the receive. On SSB you will need to tune the clarify.
