You came in a wrong time of year. The weather now is so bad. Everything is so gray and foggy. Belgrade during mid spring and summer is completely different experience. P.S. This corona crap is not helping either. Streets of Belgrade are packed with people, but now it looks like a ghost town.
Great video! We have learned in our travels around the Balkans that there is nothing better than freshly made burek. Loved those subway-like underground areas with the shops. Thanks for showing us the area of Zemun!
Belgrade has been completely destroyed and rebuilt 44 times, most of all cities in whole world, and has seen 115 different wars. Because of that you may see so many different style of architecture, like house from 18 century and next to it a building from the end of the 20th century. Sometimes it looks silly, but it is also part of the charm of Belgrade.
Greetings from Belgrade! :) Glad you can enjoy the city, food and I hope people as well. :D Just a quick remark, splav that you have been at is actually looking at Veliko Ratno Ostrvo (Big War Island), it is an island in the middle of Danube river. Confluence of Sava and Danube is in front of Kalemegdan fortress, they merge and continue as Danube. On Big War Island, once military places a removable bridge, you can cross and there is a beach, a bar, nice place for camping as well, some beach volleyball courts, etc... It can get a bit crowdy but it is nice. If you need any recommendations or someone to show you around feel free to contact me! :D
Once more, welcome to Serbia, we are very glad to have you! Yeah, I also hope that you will visit us during summer, after this pandemic is finally over and have proper slav - splav experience in Belgrade.. :D It is best nightlife area in Europe. Enjoy your stay!
Zemun was it's own place back in Roman and Celt times, when it was called Taurunum, while Belgrade was called Singidunum. So not built in the 18th century, but the place got it's today looks and urban layout in the 18th.
Нећу на енглеском да неби био сератор. Али нема толико сталних становника и уз то Атина има више него дупли број становника па и европски део Истанбула, тако да је БГ трећи а можда и четврти, јер је Софија скоро идентична по броју становника. Поздрав!
I might actually go to Serbia myself once the restrictions are lifted. Well, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. Probably add Montenegro into the mix as well. Have been planning to go the Balkans since 2011 and something or the other keeps coming in the way, this time it’s the damn Covid. Anyway, great vid.
That's actually the point that some of this splavs looks a bit ruff. Everyone have their own style, some kind or "relic" and some luxury. That's the beauty of that. 🍺😎
I love Belgrade. My favorite thing about Belgrade are the walking and biking trails on both sides of the Sava and Danube all the way from the "Sea of Belgrade" to Zenum. Belgrade just has such lovely waterfront..... On a side note what the heck is with all the NASA shirts and hats in Europe?? I've been to Europe twice in the last 2 months and as an American it is bizarre seeing so many NASA shirts every where in Europe (I can't remember the last time seeing one in the US).
Worth noting, I spend most of my time in Belgrade, the bars etc in n around the city, have them big patio heaters and supply blankets, we sit outside in December so outside end of February you'll be fine. Mrs is a Belgrade Gal, we have place in Kalenić, her favourite area is Zemun, I prefer Dorćol / Skadarlija. Hotel jugoslavija @ 3.06, was attacked by NATO.
I'm so glad you chose our capital for your travel destination, we usually don't get many tourists and most prefer other famous European cities like Paris or Berlin instead. Hope you had a great time, please come again :)
Zemun is extraordinary part, have its own history, as Roman military post Taurunum, and so.. For burek, try bakery Crvena Zvezda, best in Belgrade (in Google maps is)... You are both good story tellers, great videos
The Gardosh tower is about 130 yrs old, but the fortress underneath is much older. Bus 15 takes you to Zemun centre, but you got off several stops sooner. The ticket is more expensive when bought on the bus, you normally buy a BusPlus card at most kiosks which can be valid for an individual ride, or can be recharged as many times as you need. Once you validate the card in the bus you can change transport (bus, tram, trolley) in the following 90 minutes without paying anything extra.
Fun fact... Gardos tower was one of four border towers of Austro-Hungarian empire. There was one on North, West, East, and only one that still standing is that one in Zemun, southern tower..
If you stay longer, download app carn'go, it's similar to Uber, so you don't have to use public transport after drinking much beer. Taxi is an option, too , isn't expensive.
Guys, do you know if there is some public riverboat service on Sava and Dunabe? That will be way cooler then the bus. Is there like one that can take you to and back from Zemun for instance?
Nice video guys and yes mat’s burger 🍔 looked great and it’s nice to go out for a few beers but we can’t as here in Ireland we’ve been in level 5 lockdown since December and it’s been extended again till May it sucks over here and I was hoping to get back to Cyprus this year but it looks like it won’t be happening as I reckon we will be in some sort of lockdown till next year as I was hoping to fly my drone and put some videos up on my channel anyway if u have time have a look at my drone footage that I took from where I live anyway looking forward to seeing your next video take care catch you in the next vlog
The way you like beer and good food you have have to came to Portugal!! The north, the south and Alentejo! 3 countrys in 900 km! Portugal is one of the best!
*and that you must visit Belgrade in the summer, because it is much nicer, much greener, it is more magical than in the winter when everything is almost monotonous and boring I recommend you to visit Ada Ciganlija beach, Nikola Tesla Museum, Museum of Yugoslavia, monument to Stefan Nemanja, Avala Tower, and the new part of the city Belgrade Waterfront ...
