I heard this song in mass when I was 12 and it stuck with me to this day, 20 years later. Not even catholic anymore but still moved the profound sadness and knowing of the suffering of the poor in this song. I hear it in my mind when I fight for human rights for those oppressed and enslaved by the fashion industry. The Creator loves and listens to us all.
Beautiful song, the lyrics is beautiful Is so thrue because God really hears the cry of the poor, he is closer to the one who suffered the most. BLESSED BE THE LORD. I LOVE ❤️ THE LORD. THANK YOU. BLESSING TO YOU.🙏.
One of my favorites...sometimes I play the verse a little faster than the refrain. On the final refrain I'll go through and sing it normally then on the second time I just play the chord in one downward strum for each chord strum while singing. I find it punctuates the feeling of the song more. It also adds more time for the offertory.
I love this, Chris. I don't know if you get bonus points for creating frisson while performing liturgical music, but this was truly lovely. This is our offertory hymn for this Sunday; one of my favorites.
Spirit filled, true delivery of a treasured hymn.
I sure do appreciate all his hymns he sang and accompaniment He is my Reference to most the hymns i play guitar at my church choir .
