Those illustrations on the fence are from the essential California fish guide Miller and Leas whose 2nd edition was recently released. Dr Passerelli of CMA along with Milton Love from UCSB help produce this new edition another example of the science happening at CMA. Tons of research and conservation is done here as well. The people definitely make this a special place, including the very well-trained docents ;-)
Love that your videos don't use any music or special effect sounds. It makes your videos so calming to watch, not to mention I really appreciate you highlighting places and topics that are not famously discussed such as this and dingbat homes.
Excellent! very well done video! Added to the list of awesome places to visit whenever i get the chance to visit LA. Wish we had aquariums like this in Greece too but the few we have here are nothing exciting and not well maintained sadly... I really like your content i just discovered the last few days, more people should see your videos, they are very good!
Frank Gehry ALSO designed to Peter B Lewis building on the campus of Case Western Reserve University. You'll recognize that exploded shrapnel design instantly.
I was surprised I didn't hate this as much as I expected to. It does have a sort of dockside warehouse/cannery aesthetic that suits an aquarium. But yeah, other than that I think his buildings/home are hideous. My personal term is "Schizo Moderne" :P

Very cool. Did you get the place to yourself or was it just that empty at the time?
I tried to go earlier in the day to avoid getting in peoples’ way. But plenty of other people were there, just not always in the frame.
It’s mostly empty and it’s free

I went here a few times during middle school. Cool to learn about its history, will have to go back sometime.
Thanks for this video
Fascinating topic. Great editing and story telling :)

Amazing video!
great work!
my children loved it
cool, didn’t know this place was a thing!
Commenting for the algorithm, keep it up man
These vids are so cool
I love aquariums
did you ask them about the grunion while you were there? They love that little fish
Is this Scott Beyer's channel? Similar voice 😻
Gehry really left a wave of destruction on the LA architecture scene. The Simpsons did him right.
If it’s an aquarium, then when his roof eventually leaks- no one will notice.
its a sobering space. for a fish
Why do people think Gehry was good again? All of the stuff he built looks more like modernist sculpture than good architecture.

Notice how there’s no one there. Normal aquariums are packed
Yeah the aquarium is cool but now how will I explain to my wife that I'm putting on an addition with an industrial fishing village aesthetic 🤌
