One more comment: Frank Jenks was a most worthy actor. He was always a "second banana" but important in these forties movies. So many fine talented actors that were B movie star supporting actors that were unsung heros.
A great fun "wet Saturday afternoon" flick from 1945, when things were well and truly grim. Superb acting.... what a hoot! Thanks sincerely for uploading this!!
Isabel Randolph portrayed Mrs. Uppington on Fibber McGee and Molly and years later was Rob Petrie’s mother on the Dick Van Dyke Show. Gotta love PRC - lots of small, local, independently owned theatres made their living running poverty row studio films in the 30’s/40’s PRC, Astor, Grand National, Monogram.
Thank you again PizzaFliz. Wanted to watch some fun, relaxing, silly movies to relax and not the loud, crazy, exploding, machine gun crap that's on today.
Bromberg was the hangdog owner (w/o mustache) of the burley-q in Lady of Burlesque starring Barbara S. Both movies are mysteries w/humor--my favs. Thanx.
Thank you for the like and comment. I have watched "The Trouble With Harry", lots of years back, but surely will take you up on your recommendation, and thank you for bringing it back to memory. Nostalgia rocks!
Better get this bizarre film to a shrink immediately - it's seriously bipolar! Goes from practically slapstick to practically crime drama in a wink - and so does the music which changes as the mood changes. It's like you senses have been on the treadmill for an hour!
The cops and detectives characters were so bumbling but lovable in these old films. In fact the cops and the wise a## newspaper guys are my favorite characters.
No more ridiculous than watching 'any' Tom Cruse "Mission Impossible" film when you think about helicopters flying in tunnels with trains going through at the same time.
I've seen the actor who plays the chauffeur, Hogan, in other movies and every time I marvel at the close profile resemblance he has to Bob Hope! He has the same ski nose and other facial features. Wonder if he ever doubled for Bob Hope? Pretty good movie... :0) DBB
So many serious comments below-it's just a Movie,Folks! I thought it was Quite a lot of fun to watch- tho,I didn't understand Why the police officer remained in the house while the owner went fisihing? But then, again,it's a movie! Thx4 showing!!
I immediately recognised the butler from the Mexican Spitfire movies, Charles Coleman, who always played the straight man with impeccable comedic timing. Plus I just discovered he was Australian. Thanks Pizzaflix!!
What a delight, the judge, his family, the household staff, cops, thugs, the blabbermouth waitress at the diner and the dog. Does anyone know the make of the judge's roadster (car)?
The only modern era color movies that I can think of that are worthy of praise are Tombstone, and Young Guns. Unfortunately, if they came out today they’d be universally condemned because of toxic masculinity or some other stupid snowflake bullshit.
These writers are really too obvious! All their luggage and vacation stuff plus, 2 bags of lime...in the back seat instead of the trunk!? Who does that??
the chauffeur does look a bit like bob hope, especially in profile. he also looks a bit like bill goodwin and sounds like bill goodwin. the caretaker looks like an alt percy kilbride too. I hope pizza flix can straighten out whatever went wrong with RUclips. pizza flix is a great channel !
When I saw him I kept thinking of the phrase "The ol' Magoo" and couldn't think why. Then I remembered. Frank Jenks from Christmas in Conneticut" One of my favourite movies!!
In almost 50 years of driving I don't recall ever getting into the passenger door and sliding across the seat to get to rhe drivers seat, yet its a common occurrence in movies , and why do they always leave rhe lights on after shutting the car off, lol. With all that camping gear, they took the trouble of stashing it behind the seat in a two seater roadster instead of just dropping it into rhe trunk. Just little things I noticed , still a good movie though, funny and worth watching. Oh, what is "quick-line" they bought at that roadside stop and what was it used for ? ( I may have mispronounced that,it was difficult to hear )
I notice that too about them sliding across the seat ..and not using the trunk for the gear. lol Was also wondering what they were talking about 'quickline'?? So I had to re-listen to see what it was. Quicklime -- aka calcium oxide, was used in disposal of corpses, among many other uses.
@@robertwalker5521 I never thought of that. I've had many vehicles with bench style seats, but always lived in more rural area, so traffic wasn't an issue here. There was none, lol

Poor man! Who needs all that dead weight baggage, day in and day out? Weird comedy....really nothing funny haha.... in the entire script! Maybe it's just me and everyone else thought it was a riot!

He was the primary/lead star in two movies, I
believe .
Love old time movies! Thanks for showing these kind of movies!! 😂❤️
I can see why the Greatest Generation flocked to see this clever film.
. *THIS IS A REALLY FUN OLD-TIME MOVIE !!!*
Isabel Randolph is great as the Mrs Bennett comic hysteria character! Loved this film....

Richard W, Know who wrote it? Gypsy Rose Lee! (Louise Hovick)
I have watched this one before but it's still as fun to watch the second time around..!!
Missing corpse my arse, that was one of the, (MOST FOUND), corpses of all time! Great, and fun watch. Thank you PF.

Edward Bromberg is great. Why wasn't he more famous? He's much better than Edward G. Robinson.
Beautifully type-acted.
Fritzy is adorable! 🐾❤️
A rare (and charmingly funny) spoof on forgotten fatherhood... how we dads gotta do all the driving while taking back seat to all the credit.
Since when do cops just walk into one's home? He never even announced himself or said why he was in the house.

Do we really need the Disney cartoon-style score to signal the mood?? All the sublety of a frying pan upside the head.
Reminder to self to watch later.

1941 Buick Roadmaster Convertible
"Bacon and eggs! My word!" Great movie!
Does anyone know the name of the George Zuccos handyman? He appeared in so many westerns and always as an outlaw.
Fun movie. The daughter in this movie looked like a double Rita Hayworth.
Lol. Wonderfully funny!
I notice that the "daughter" , Phylis (Lorell Sheldon), is not credited. I wonder why? There must be a story behind it.
a good film, but bad lighting makes many scenes washed out unfortunately. but this was Hollywoods learning period so i dont mind too much.

Great actors in this. Certainly not “B” actors at all. Also actors in this day were actually ACTORS not ‘movie stars’.
What is it with the cops pants. Why would anybody come up with a design like that.
