Two great candidates for restoration. They were very much workhorses for a long time but need some repairs now.
Thanks for showing them Buddy.
The audio with the clip-on mic is great. And it's nice to see you in the picture-in-picture with that wall of gear behind you, giving Mr Carlson a run for his money
Those radios sure brings old memories back .............
Nice to see a post Buddy, your audio is definitely low compared to the noise of the fans. Have a safe and happy fourth!
Another winning video, Buddy. I like your logical approach to troubleshooting old radios like the one in the video. I was a CB'er back in '76 and remember Courier CB radios as being the top of the line. Back then, channel 16 was the SSB channel, 9 was for emergencies and 19 was for truckers. One challenge I've encountered when rehabilitating radios from the old days is those owned by smokers. Years ago smoking was so much a part of daily life and a radio owned by a smoker can be detected by brownish-yellow stains both in and outside the radio. Those always needed extra attention, especially with contacts, switches, and relays. Thanks Buddy and God bless.
Hi Buddy! Glad to see this antique on your bench! Your audio is perfect, from what I hear! Nice job, thanks for posting!
Nice radios. I have a 142 I have to bring back to life. Nice to see a video. 73
I loved the 142, Nice old radios
Audio quality is excellent!
I can hear the air conditioning in the background but it’s not bad. Audio is good. And THANKS for the new video! I really enjoy your content.
Nice two radios that are worthy of restoration for sure. Good to see you Buddy. Take care, 73 Joe
Rotary switch contacts were silver plated for better contact, the oxidation is silver oxide and the older the oxidation the harder it gets. Tarn-X and a Q-tip works and so does De-oxit for cleaning.
Your audio sounds real clear.
Interesting to see old CB radios, especially the Tram Titan! I had an all-tube Tenko 46T with 46 channels AM only, it gave about 8 watts out (we were only allowed 0.5 watts into the antenna.. I must say, your audio was better before, the "shop noise" is louder than your speech. You might try another placement for the mic. Otherwise, a nice video as always!
Love the 142GTL, that was my favorite back then. It had the greatest audio, the weakness being only single conversion and susceptible to bleed over. I used to add the CB City 7.8 Xtal filters to mine. I like your original video and audio better. The first part of this seemed to lack midrange or highs, like a little muddy, found myself leaning towards my speakers to hear your words better. Love your radio posts no matter...
Audio quality is very good. I remember that name brand radio.
Thank you
Have a good holiday weekend Buddy.
You do the same!
The Cobra radio, the crystal near the PLL and the blue electrolytic capacitor has brown glue (Sony-bond) disease on the bottom.
Yep, got to remove that stuff
Looking forward to the follow up video.
Thanks
Hey Buddy. I did have to turn volume up to full to hear you, and the sound was still pretty low. Your ambient noise did not seem to be the problem, just weak pickup.
Thanks for the feed back.
Background noise increased at about 4:08, hissing starts at 5:52 but the volume is better, volume decrease at 8:20, 10:20 background fan? more apparent. That said, all audio was easily understood.
Thanks for the report
Thankyou for sharing your videos. Will you be sharing the restoration videos of these two classic. Alex UK
Thanks, I will try and add them in.
The audio was a touch low using the computer speakers, but I just turned on my external speaker and all was okay!
I think that is one of my problems, I am using a headset to set the levels which is much to low for PC speakers. Thanks
Where you been? We are going into withdrawals with out you.
Too much work on the public job. Waiting on retirement
The audio was good in some segments but not too good at the end of the Titan segment.
I've seen some RUclips creators use a headset microphone (the lightweight skinny ones), it may work better for you.
Yep, just hate to spend 3 to 4 hundred bucks to get one. But may have to if I am going to use OBS. Thanks

Not really, the sound wasn't awful, just if you want a clear audio without background noise I think that's the only way you can go.
hi buddy, the audio varys and is low when the AC is running and it is good when you are close to thr mic.
I think if you can over dub the audio for all the video clips the audio will be at even on all clips.
Another thing is maybe you can use ONE mic for all the video clips but that may be very hard unless someone can tell you how to do it.
You need an audio engineer....LOL
Thanks for the video Buddy.
Through out the whole video the mics were 2-3 inches from my mouth. Both are lapel non amplified mics that are plugged into usb ports. No controls or adjustments. Looks like I am going to have to spend 3 to 4 hundred to get a decent one. Thanks for the feed back Bill.
D dropped back down at 8:15 scene change.
Thanks
They use to sale the echo-master miic for them which was better than installing it in the radio and messing it up
I agree!
Echo on a CB radio is stupid - PERIOD.
At the scene change at 5:52 it suddenly gor much louder. Like you went from 50% gain to 100%.
Changed mic, thanks
Yes low muffled sometimes hollow audio not like in pawst videos. Also mics picking up noise in the room. Video good.. Audio 4 out of 10
Turn up the volume on the lapel mic.
This is a non amplified lapel, no controls, just plugs in usb port
I watch a lot of your videos are you taking any work right now I have a Kenwood ts-811a need repair does not work comes on and no display modes there all lit up and stays on
the audio on this video is way to low..
Thanks for the feed back
Great Video Buddy I like the new camera look, I have someone in my neighborhood that has 3 of these radios his dad was a big collector of many radios I purchased alot of them however I missed out on a Browning Mark 4 🫤 maybe this radio is one of them I know his son has been selling the collection off one by one...
I have a browning mark 4, been sitting on the shelf for years. Not sure where he found this radio but was local
