My 2002 TJ. I paid 16k for it. Rust free rig from California shipped to MN. I have 41k in parts on it and I still have the 4.0/Automatic/dana 30 and dana 35 axles. My own labor. Its black, sits on 35s with lockers and full of top notch goodies and I haven't gotten to an axle swap or motor swap. Did this in 4 months, like you say don't tell the wife. 14000$ is decent for what you got. I got 30,000$ in my JL and haven’t even touched drivetrain ecxept gears yet lol I feel like for an older build vehicle like you have and what you did is well invested for what we do! Nice rig man, cheers from Canada 🤙🏻🤘🏻
Great video! Reality sucks when you put dollar signs on paper. I’ve always told people make a list, figure up what it’s going to cost and then double it.
You ty for your vid Question you left your vid 2 transmission connection your flywheel didn't line up at all then you went to vid 3 but never touched on what your problem was.So what was the problem and your fix please
Hi, love the build, it's inspiring me. Also your front JL grill, is that a JL grill that you modified to fit? I bought a Mopar JL grill to try and attach to my JKUR. I love the look!
My mechanic just told me my JK's engine is dead. What is the most economical way to get back up and running? And how much would you expect that to cost with parts and labor? Drop in another of the same (rebuilt) engine? I'm not trying to get beefier or higher performance. I just need my Jeep to work again. Thanks.
Most economical way would be to find another used stock engine. Most shops can pull off a turn key engine swap, factory engine for under $10k. If you want a turn key LS swap you’re looking at $25-35k
pretty much double that cost in Australia very expensive over here only if we can be your prices but our dollar rate is ridiculous and plus can't do any of that here as well pretty much a nanny-controlled Australia and yet we have massive land and bush.
The only expensive part of the entire build to be done in Australia is the wiring and having both systems work with one another. Plenty of ls and gearbox combos for less than 6k.
Did you put rtv or a gasket between your trans and the transfercase adapter? Also, your extremely thick radiator requires a very good fan. A thinner radiator would likely work better. I can sit and idle my LS-jk with stock rad/fan
I still have my stock rad/fan. Might switch back and see how that does. and yes I did use RTV between the adapter but that space should be dry regardless. the tcase and trans do not share fluid.
Don’t you have a 4l80? Then it’s a wet adaptor. Aka the trans will leak fluid into the adaptor by design. I thought the same thing coming from Jeeps, where the tcase-trans connection has been dry for at least 30 years. They don’t share fluid. The tcase is truly sealed, but the transmission relies on the adaptor for a seal.
That’s interesting, nowhere I read mentioned being able to Do that, there are freeze/orifice plug you put in when converting one to 4wd. But I haven’t heard of one being converted to dry tail shaft, I would like that on mine. With the cllocking ring I’ve got an extra spot for mine to leak
@@brs256ishI’ll do some more digging on it but that’s what I remember Novak telling me because it came with paper gaskets and I didn’t understand why it would need them if it didn’t hold fluid.
Ls will of ofcourse out perform and ol school V8 but screw all that electrical crap. I’m just gonna do a 305 or 350 v8 like I did my XJ a few years ago and save a lot of money
You won't be saving any money. A ls is stupid simple and cheap with a painless wiring harness. There is literally no point in swapping in a inferior 350

Also, I ended up going with a gm factory mechanical fan over electric and it solved my slow crawling temp issues
I pulled the tcase and used a ton of RTV to fix the leak. All dry now
About 15k was my guess and looks totally worth it. After I pay off my jeep going for lq4/9 swap awesome vids and sick jeep!
I'm not telling! "it was on sale" is always the right answer
Love my LS swapped Jeep..
Bruiser does sell them still. I contacted them and they are around $500
the holley EFI has a place for the trigger wire on the ac compressor also what about adding a fan on the outside of the radiator behind the grill?

$14k in just the engine swap. No clue how much in the whole build but it's all for the love of the game lol. Thanks for watching!
Look at Novak Jeep Conversions. They handle the whole thing, or sell you the parts. I love mine
Did you use a Novak Jeep Conversion Kit for the LS Swap?
Try Find a Crown Vic electric fan. Big fan relative thin and moves alot of air. Also cheap compared to others.
I’ll look into it. Thanks man

Thanks. The grill is custom. I cut the center section from a JL and JK grill and combined them.

Will a Hemi JL radiator fit?
Probably not drop in. You’ll have to make some brackets like I did I would assume. Probably easier to go with a JK specific aftermarket rad
