I actually love Francesca and Michael's story... the scene of the mother's talking to Michael and saying "thank you for letting my son love her first"? I was inconsolable
It's just weird every women wore them even poor women who had to work. Like who did they went from basic underwear that helpt you boobs stay in place, to something that will torture you in the media. They were like old bra's before bra's became a thing
thank you for joining the war against corset hate, us fashion history enthusiasts appreciate anyone spreading the word that corsets were NOT uncomfortable
He's such a misogynistic ahole and absent father, their book made me so uncomfortable. I hope they change him significantly for the show because show Eloise would not tolerate that bs.
to sir phillip with love, the letters kinda give "with a comma after dearest" vibes iykyk. also i love gregory in his book hes really unhinged. i havent read hyacinths yet but she also seems kinda unhinged just in personality. but when gregory just broke into lucys room i was like " yeah breaking and entering lets go!" in a very fun way
Eloise's book is simultaneously my favourite one and also the most infuriating one. I appreciate the fact that Sir Philip is an absolute awkward idiot who just goes to tend to his plants any time he can't handle a situation over being just another scoundrel rake, raking up the place and gathering STDs. Which at times is absolutely hilarious. This book is definitely the funniest one of the bunch. The confrontation with the brothers literally invented comedy. Imagining that giant man (who apparently used to wrestle) just letting himself get dunked on by the 3 brothers (while Colin whines about missing Pen and being hungry) is really fuckin funny. And in other times this can get a bit infuriating because these books don't really like to focus on overtime development of characters gradually changing their behaviour. Which would really just improve this as a ROMANTIC story. I also wish they just had MORE time to get to know eachother before marrying eachother. (which I'm assuming is something the show will do, because i expect them to start writing to eachother during season 4) Phillip's socially awkward, can't string his feelings together in a sentence ass paired with Eloise's confrontational, literally talks circles around him ass creates a very interesting dynamic where i think it really gives both characters room to grown and match eachother's pace. And I really envisioning the show taking the really good parts of their story and expanding upon them. I get the feeling that the show, to match this story more with show Eloise's personality, might have her become something like a governess of the Crane estate. That's an idea that that show played around a bit with Kate, who Eloise connected with. That's also one of the jobs women could actually have at the time and something Eloise might want to pursue, rather than going there in hope of matching with Philip. It would also make sense with him wanting someone to take care of his children. I feel like that scenario will just make more sense of some things while letting others play exactly the same way. It also leaves them on a starting ground where it's a bit less confusing to watch Philip be emotionally stunted about liking Eloise and it will make him seem less like he is ONLY in this for convenience. Because if his children needing a caretaker is the setup, that being an actual JOB rather than them GETTING MARRIED being treated as a business transaction, gives room for the actual romance to feel more organic. Think. The Sound of Music or The Nanny.
(yes this comment is a copy of one i wrote in another comment section, i can't be bothered to come up with another way to say the exact same thing lmao)
To be fair isnt socially awkward man and woman who talks circles around him just lizzie and mr darcy lmao, except jane austen can do growth and development
He didn't wrestle, he boxed. I agree with liking that he wasn't a rake but his constant thoughts of "ugh I'll never understand women boohoo" drive me insane. He's so misogynistic and only wanted a house keeper and nanny who he could f at night (got a bonus since Eloise is pretty). He definitely doesn't deserve her or his children's love.
I really hope they make all 8 seasons (and a Violet and Edmund prequel series) It seems like they will considering how popular the show is.. I'm most interested in how they adapt the stories to suit the show and the characters they've created, especially Eloise
there's hope for a prequel, maybe even earlier, since there's the queen charlotte spin-off (with a young violet already casted who is perfect). i really love the parents and hopefully mama bridgerton gets a second chance at love in s3 part 2
i’m so excited for eloise’s season and hyacinth’s season. in season three hyacinth is very precocious and i want to see how she does on the marriage mart. if there is still a diamond i think she will be a diamond.
you should do a video on the prequel series about the rokesbys!! i found the books sm more entertaining/interesting than the main series' stories but they dont get enough love!
After having heard all the creepy things Benedict does in the book, I'm a show Benedict diehard. I do NOT understand why people like Offer From a Gentleman so much
Amanda could you do a video on the Disney show "backstage" I remember watching it as a kid and I feel like it would be interesting to hear you talk about it
the more i learn about these books, the more im amazed shondaland and netflix even picked that shit up for an adaptation 😭 dont get me wrong i love the show, but i couldnt get into the books, and i kept seeing little bits from them here and there which made me question how these books were even liked. i even saw a thread on why sir philip is horrible and all the toxic things he did with screenshots included, and it made me dread eloise's season. get rid of the whole man honestly
Honestly the way Netflix is I seriously doubt we’ll get to see all 8 stories. What I think is going to happen is season 5 will air and then Netflix will cancel it. Also I really hope the show reworks Sir Phillip because Eloise is such a strong character she deserves more than Phillip yelling at her to never complain that she’s not happy 😒
i had this playing in the background as i played videogames and i had to fuLLY PAUSE because i heard "maxon moment" and like i got the reference but the last thing i expected to ever hear was a selection reference. i know this is that kind of channel but still oufnvoidjpod
14:14 for real I love Benedict in the show so I had high expectations for his book but he was so annoying with how pushy and my way or the highway he was about everything. I haven't read past Eloise's story but I think hers is my favorite I love Sir Phillip. The tropes in that story in like every historical fantasy romance webtoons I have been obsessed with. I just prefer awkward kuudere guys over flirtatious rakes.

“a good old brother love triangle if you will… but one of them wins by default, because the other one is dead” made me cackle
I actually love Francesca and Michael's story... the scene of the mother's talking to Michael and saying "thank you for letting my son love her first"? I was inconsolable
the scream i let it out when you said "the cold never bother me anyway, apparently it did tho" KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
I just love whenever corsets are mentioned the entire historical fashion descends with paragraphs prepared
we’re out in the trenches here 😭

"How about you be my mistress? Deal or no deal?" Man I hate book Benedict 😂

R.I.P to your sister’s prom dress. She will be missed. 🫡
Maybe she’ll do another historical drama recap
Of a different series
OMG I HATE PHILLIP SO MUCH
I don't care that they end up loving each other, Eloise deserved better
PHILLIP IS THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE
AGREE, Eloise was my second least favorite book, only beaten out by Daphne's.
I couldn't even finish that book. I hated it and knew it would be a HEA so I just said nah and skipped ahead to the next one.
samee, i really hope they make eloise a lesbian 😭🤌🏻🏳️🌈

HAMILTON REFERENCE? Also, so excited for the two youngest stories. I am so sad we can't see more of their personalities yet.

Petition to have Amanda read all of the books to us like a bedtime story

I'm so hype you made this. I was not trying to read the bridgerton books but I love knowing the lore
why are all these men red flags- (except gregory my boi)
17:24 ThE CoLd NEvEr “BoThErEd me AnyWaY ✨ 🧊 🎶 apparently it did tho.. 😐” GIRL, THE WAY I CHOKED ON MY WATER
“Wins by default cause he’s dead” is so deadpan yet hilarious 😂
“the cold never bothered me anyway” except clearly it did
ma’am do you know how hard I cackled
Everytime i learn smt new about book philip i dread eloise's season a little bit more
Benedicts book is hands down my FAVORITE! Im so glad you enjoyed it.
"little use for large balls" is a phrase that will permanently worm itself into my brain
i’m so excited for eloise’s season and hyacinth’s season. in season three hyacinth is very precocious and i want to see how she does on the marriage mart. if there is still a diamond i think she will be a diamond.
"Im so devious" 😭 ily
there's gotta be at least two more seasons,, maybe 3. we NEED the cinderella plot + Gregorys story, probably Eloises for good measure too
21:28 Selection Series reference, luvvvv that 🔥
Gregory's is my favorite is so crazy, it's like a novela
I love listening to you sped up cause you're so passionate and say it all in one breath
girl I could watch you summarize books all day 😭😭 lmaooo it's giving "Bridgerton in pop terms"
you should do a video on the prequel series about the rokesbys!! i found the books sm more entertaining/interesting than the main series' stories but they dont get enough love!
I love your cosplay, Amanda, it's so divine.
Oh god poor lucy cant catch a break justice for my girl
This entire book series sounds toxic AF. I was considering reading them after watching the show (which also has its issues) but nope.
There are some weird entries and plot points indeed. I'm reading them but it's actually making me experience the TV series worse 😂
@@TheFantazingo because they changed so much for the show?
I think the only non toxic book is Polin's. Maybe Hyacinth. I hate Eloise's book the more I hear about it
After having heard all the creepy things Benedict does in the book, I'm a show Benedict diehard. I do NOT understand why people like Offer From a Gentleman so much
Amanda could you do a video on the Disney show "backstage" I remember watching it as a kid and I feel like it would be interesting to hear you talk about it
Ah I wish you were more known so that more could appreciate your work! :D Please, do more long recaps, I live for your narration!
the more i learn about these books, the more im amazed shondaland and netflix even picked that shit up for an adaptation 😭 dont get me wrong i love the show, but i couldnt get into the books, and i kept seeing little bits from them here and there which made me question how these books were even liked. i even saw a thread on why sir philip is horrible and all the toxic things he did with screenshots included, and it made me dread eloise's season. get rid of the whole man honestly
ooooh i hate that i immediately knew what you meant when you said philip had a maxon moment
Thank you for your sacrifice 😂 I wont have to read those books now
This is amazing! I really need you to do a recap of Marissa Meyer's Renegades trilogy, because I'd love to hear your opinions.
Thank you. Now, I know definitely, I am not going to read the books. 🙈
*although Gregory's sounds fun 😅.
I haven’t and will probably never watch Bridgerton but I loved hearing about the books 😂🩷
WAKE UP Y'ALL AMANDA POSTED

I felt like JQ got bored of the formula by the time she got to H and G. They're better books but really don't feel like the same series.
i had this playing in the background as i played videogames and i had to fuLLY PAUSE because i heard "maxon moment" and like i got the reference but the last thing i expected to ever hear was a selection reference. i know this is that kind of channel but still oufnvoidjpod
