    Helpful video. The nice thing about the Garmin when connecting to Concept 2 is that when you record it on Ergdata logbook and you connect Garmin to your Logbook, it transmits all of the data collected by the Concept 2 (including HR if you're broadcasting it, as well as pace, SPM, power meter, etc) right to your Garmin Connect App, so you have it all in one place. And, that activity counts towards all of your goals. You don't have to have multiple 3rd party apps to track all of this. Big win for Garmin and Concept 2.

      Is there a way to link the Concept 2 logbook directly to Garmin Connect or vis versa so I don't need to wear a Garmin device? I have a separate heart rate device. The PM5 logs info into the logbook so is it possible to just have my workouts upload automatically. I use Trainer Road for bike rides and I was able to link that account with Garmin connect so it send data automatically to Garmin and Strava. Thanks.

      My Garmin watch and HR are connected to my PM5, but I only get stroke count and HR data, but it never shows and pace, power etc. I wonder what I am doing wrong? I guess I will call Garmin on Monday as they have a place for distance but it always shows -0-. Frustrating.

    You can also work the other way around: you can add the PM5 as an ANT+ sensor to the Garmin, and then use that in the Indoor Rowing activity. This also records distance per stroke and breathing rythem.

      @rowalong by the way, you mentioned you may be able to shortcut the hr connection bit of the app, well u can. I have a Venu 2+, tap onto settings, scroll to controls and you have shortcut apps there, just tap one you don't use, tap +, then replace with the broadcast, hr button

      Hi, just as a footnote which may help with connection. I have noticed that if I use ergdata and connect to pm5 and my venu 2+, the venu 2 hr disconnects after a couple of minutes IF you don't programme an activity (indoor rowing, for example), on the venu 2. Once an activity is programmed on the venu 2, it stays connected.

    Holy smokes man, your heart rate is crazy low. I do a fair bit of hiit training like sprinting, and following your Vo2 max workouts on my concept. I also do high intensity training with weights. I consider myself to be very fit but I can’t get my heart rate that low. Lowest mine will go is mid 40’s to low 50’s. I’m 38, male, very active. Under 10% body fat. How did you get yours in the 30’s? You must be a runner too? Please share! Love your follow along videos. I have definitely made my form better on the rower.

      To be honest, it's just something I have. Maybe it's all the years playing squash, then cycling before coming to rowing, but I just have a very low RHR. I've never been tested to find out if this is bad (there are some conditions that cause a low RHR) but I think I'd know by now if something was wrong. So I'm happy to assume I just have a very efficient heart when at rest.
      And yes, I do run too - the HYROX training takes care of that, but my RHR is low regardless of what I'm doing.
      As to the videos - there has been a bit of a slow down over the past few months - but once I've sorted out the new design, they'll start coming back thick and fast!

      I wear my Garmin 24/7, and it reports my RHR between 36-42. (I enjoy giving the nurses a scare when they take my pulse!) The key for me is regular (once/day) zone 1 or 2 aerobic activity for 30 minutes or more. I do enjoy cardio. So, I would say frequent and consistent is better for RHR than intensity. Good luck!

    Do you start an indoor row activity on the watch or just let the c2 logbook sync to garmin connect? I am not sure what works best for Garmin’s training status features (load focus, recovery, etc…)

    I occasionally use the HR from my Garmin Vivoactive (when my chest straps break, which is often) and that suffers from erratic readings as you allude at the beginning - the solution, I shift it 5cm or so up my arm and that works fine.

      @rowalong I have a question please, I have a garmin fenix but would like to use exr and also log my rows, should I connect my watch to the pm5 and also exr to the pm5? How best to then log my rows?? Any help you're able to offer would be greatly appreciated 😊

      @rowalong  28 дней назад

      @@medwsc123sorry for the delay replying. My feed has been filled with people doing the RowAlong treasure hunt - and your comment got buried!!
      If you’re using EXR, the simplest thing to do is connect your rower and Fenix to EXR - and then make sure that EXR is connected to your logbook account. It’ll then upload row and HR data for you.
      As the PM5 only talks to one app at a time, that’s the best way to do it.

    I have programmed an EMOM training in which I have 8 different exercises. One of the exercises is a rowing exercise. Can I start EMOM training and have my watch connected to the rower at the same time?

    • @rowalong
      @rowalong  4 месяца назад

      I think so…. As long as you have your Garmin set to broadcast heart rate, and you don’t connect it to anything else.
      But, you’ll need to keep the monitor alive, as it’ll auto shut-off after two minutes of inactivity.
      You can keep it alive either a) by connecting an app like ErgData or Ergzone, and programme in the time, distance etc of your row - or you can turn on 12hr mode. Go to 2:40 on this video. ruclips.net/video/pF_J-Sp-XC8/видео.htmlsi=7HbPk6FjeXpkG274

    • @rowalong

      My suggestion, if you're using a Concept2 is to use ErgData to record and upload your rows. Then use a web-app called "ErgMonkey" ergmonkey.com/ to look at your stats afterwards. Garmin connect and Strava don't give enough data when it comes to rowing. ErgMonkey gives a LOT of data!! In fact, I really should make a video about it. Thanks for asking the question and reminding me!!!
