Stand By Me will always remain as one of the most well remembered iconic films from the 80's and beyond, RIP River Phoenix.

i kind of hate the count down of where are they now . River Phenix is a total tragedy, dead at 23 . Wil Wheaton is a success story . Cory Feldman got compared to the other Corey . Sick sad world , they were all perfect in "Stand by Me" . It was such a good a good movie because the director fleshed it out so well . the screenwriter took a short story and turned it into a full length movie . Cudos
This ending really hits hard. Chris was the only one to die and so was River.

I get so frustrated over River's death. Creepy thing is that they all kind of ended up like their characters did in life... This movie is a true masterpiece and is one of my favorite movies ever, it just hits home. Only 23, whole life ahead of him... the kind of talent he had is something you don't see often. If I could bring back one gone celebrity it would be him. He was beautiful in and out. Today he'd be standing next to his little brother and they'd be taking the world by storm. I have huge respect for Joaquin, I hope they'll be reunited once again one day. I can't imagine losing your big bro in that way...
R.I.P. River. Your talent will always shine on in one of the greatest movies ever made.

He had horrible demons constantly pulling him down in their hellish pit. He couldn't find the strength or help to escape it.

This is my favorite coming-of-age movie. I can watch it again and again without ever getting bored. River Phoenix’s performance was just stellar. He would’ve been a Hollywood A Lister, just like his brother Joaquin if he was still alive today. RIP River.

@@Maxmorris12 River was the best actor of his generation, let that sink in. he was the ONLY actor to have been compared with James Dean, and he is also called the Vegan James Dean or James Dean of the 80s. River's characters were vulnerable, raw and genuine much similar to James Dean. River was one of the finest actors, ever.
Brad Pitt said River is/was the best of the young guys/his generation. River also dicaprio's hero when he was young.

Corey Feldman was also the voice for Donatello in the first 3 TMNT movies, you know the good ones, or well the first two anyway.
Oh damn didn't realize that, feel dumb now. I only watch the original now cause 2 is just ok and 3 is, well just awful. They're better than the Michael Bay ones which I guess isn't saying much lol

Stand by me is my favorite movie of all time😍
The first time I saw this movie was on cable tv in either the late 90s or the early 2000s when it was edited for television. I later saw the uncut version of the film and immediately connected with it. To this day, it remains one of my all time favorite coming of age films, as well as a favorite of Stephen King’s work. And I have actually had the privilege of meeting two of the stars of this film so far. Last year I got to meet Kiefer Sutherland at a convention along with two of his Young Guns costars Dermot Mulroney and Lou Diamond Phillips, and one Lost Boys costar, Jason Patric. Kiefer was super nice and friendly to talk to. And over this past weekend I got to meet Bradley Gregg at another convention. He told me all about how he and River had been the best of friends up until the day he passed away and how they had made this film, along with Explorers and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade together. I also learned that he served as a pallbearer at River’s funeral. I hope I get the chance to meet Wil Wheaton, Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell and John Cusack one day too.

You didn't mention John's role in Stephen King's 1408 or Casey's role in Young Guns with Kiefer. But my fave of Jerry is My secret Identity & Sliders...I'm a Slider addict since 1995. I love Stand by Me so much, it's a classic and the song too by Ben E. King awesome 🥰

I was about to say I don't know any of these since I never saw the movie but I picked out three I recognized. Obviously River Phoenix but I know Corey Feldman and surprisingly Jerry O Connell. When you mentioned he was married to Rebecca Romijin I instantly realized I saw her on this show called Haircuts in America and I instantly asked my mom "Wait a minute that's Jerry O Connell?" Which she nodded so I am like "I probably wouldn't have known him unless I saw that"
